A huge tip from a janitor! Be ye consistent and learn to maintain a clean workplace! Clients would love you and that fuels your attitude towards your job and that means you’ll end up keeping your post for a very long time with zero to no complaints! I’m a janitor who is very consistent! If you’re inconsistent you won’t keep your job for a long time or get complaints tossed your way. Consistent brings you respect from clients and they would love to treat you like a coworker. If you’re inconsistent though they won’t speak to you at all which may make you feel like they must be thinking of you like a human trash! And I hear this a lot from many janitors on how the clients looks down on them. Perhaps is their attitude towards their own job or their inconsistency’s! Don’t just clean but try to maintain a clean environment (workplace).
A custodian means you have keys so you can access certain area.Your considered a trusted person,like working at a school.A janitor would be someone who works in a retail store doing cleaning.
Yes I think this every time someone calls me a janitor, it’s just so wrong to me. Mainly because I clean class rooms, not just bathrooms. My sister now I consider her a janitor, she works at Wally World and considers herself a maintenance..hehe when she cleans and doesn’t know how to install a toilet..or fix outlets.. I know custodians that fix more than her.
That's bologna I was a lead janitor and had a key to every door in the building and also did maintenance tasks like using a scissor lift to change light bulbs and changing all the faucets in the bathrooms. A janitor is not below a custodian it's exactly the same thing. Now I'm called neither I'm called maintenance. There are people in maintenance that are called building engineers who have college degrees and make big bucks. There is all different levels of janitors, custodians, and maintenance workers.
💯 I had access to many businesses after hours working for a private cleaning company. I also had the security code to disarm the security system, bring in all my cleaning equipment lock the door behind me clean the place rearm security system lock it back up and since this was late at night I always watched my surrounding since I had access to stuff worth in the thousands at just one of the many places I cleaned. It is a trusted job indeed.
I was a janitor for a private cleaning company for 10 years. I cleaned businesses after hours. I came across all kind of interesting things. Than I was also a janitor for Walmart for 5 years. Most people look at janitors as being below them. But I got paid more than most of them, because no one really wants to work in maintenance at Walmart, so they paid us more than most positions and since we are all over the whole store and not confined to any specific area like most all the other employees are. We actually know where everything in that store is better than anyone else in there. all day spot moping up and down the isles . With the private cleaning company before that I had the keys to many different businesses and had to go in disarm the security system than bring in all my cleaning equipment. I worked alone late at night cleaning place, but working alone was nice.
As a janitor this job has a lot learning curves I struggle with a process disablity and low blood pressure fast heart rate one time we where done for the day my blood pressure dropped really low I looked at my smartwatch and luckily me and my sister work toughter I my sister was putting supplies away at the venu we where cleaning came out my blood pressure dropped so much along with my heart rate that I was eating yougert and I started foaming at the mounth know that happened I never leave the house with out my smartwatch and took my medication it took me two weeks of training if not longer and with my medical and mental health struggles I have almost lost the job but I did find this one relatable especailly with walking in the bathroom and someone’s in there especailly when it’s guys thanks for this video keep up the great work
it is a hard job but honestly I have been doing this shit for three years and when I see shit on the ground in the bathroom I don’t even clean it up because it’s disgusting it’s nasty hell 85% of the time when I see shit on the toilet on the wall I don’t even clean it we have so many Custodians in our job and I don’t even do it sure I do clean the bathroom but not the toilets
They have me doing 3 buildings for one company if a toilet is clogged I don’t do it after this one time I did and it was nasty as fuck , shit everywhere had to dig in there with bag over hands. Now I just don’t unclog it and I literally don’t have time and someone is always clogging up the same toilet. I just remove paper or feces and have maintaience do it which maintaience is suppose to unclog toilets anyways not the janitor. It’s literally maintenance job to unclog it and they never do it or do it after a week
They don’t pay me enough to unclog when someone always clogging it up seems on purpose . I just remove some toilet paper or don’t bother at all. If they fire me idgaf
