five watt live - Fender Deluxe Reverb: The Best Amp Ever? 

My favorite is still my ‘64 Deluxe Reverb . Bought it in Memphis in ‘67 played through it with Box Tops, Billy Preston, Dobie Gray, Willie Nelson, etc. Jeff Hime at Hime Amplification in Nashville says it’s one of the best Deluxes he’s ever heard. I’m a lucky guy.

My two tied-for-#1 amps are my vintage ‘67 blackface DR and ‘74 silverface Princeton Reverb. I’ve gone through a ton of amps, but the Fender tone is just tough to beat, and the amps are so pedal friendly. And while many think of a Tele or Strat with Fender amps, I’m primarily a Les Paul player. LP+Fender amp is tonal nirvana.

I bought a Black Tonemaster Deluxe back in November. In love are the only words.

Could not catch you live, but just loved this video and these exchanges. My favorite was Mick Taylor's quote. He's got such a great way of saying things like that. You continue to teach us lots - and at 51, this type thing you, Shawn, Rhett, Rick, the Pedal "boys" as you say - and Zac: these are the shortcuts we all needed all of our lives.

Princeton Reverb in a head cab is my vote. My preference is to plug mine into an open back 1x12 with a JBL K120. Keeps up with drummers most of the time.

I'm lucky to live 45 minutes away from Dave's Guitar Shop. Such a cool place!

Thanks for the live cast, which I watched yesterday. I just picked up one of the Blonde Tone Masters today and sold my '75 Silverface. That Celestion speaker is fantastic.

Often the quest for tone leads us back where we started . I started with a blackface deluxe . In pursuit of tone I went to a Dr zZ maz , to a Kendrick black gold , now back to that deluxe platform again . So many great takes on that amp out there , my favorite of them are tone king , milkman , and Fat Jimmy . I bought the fat jimmy because it sounds amazing ! Looks great , and who doesn’t do a double take when they see that name on the amp !

My experience is similar to Jared's. I bought a 64 custom deluxe reverb about 6 months ago and it has become my favorite amp ever. I have owned/played amps by Carr, Supro, Marshall, Divided by 13, Ampeg, Louis Electric, Vox and Magnatone, among others. I keep searching for something that can beat it but it's such a warm, sweet, amazing sound. I love it.

"Three Watts is really loud." -- Amen to that. I have a wee Marshall DSL1 combo in the bedroom. At its low-power 0.1 Watts mode, I _still_ get complaints from the neighbours.

I've had a metric shit ton of amps - probably like 15 over the years. Some great ones in there, like the AC15HW, the Lone Star Special, but once I got a Fender Deluxe Reverb 68 custom reissue, I was just done. I now own that amp, and a vintage 67 Fender Deluxe Reverb I bought in Nashville, which I love but keep for studio and home only. I've had this amp for years now and still love it every time I plug in (daily).

Purchased a black tonemaster when they first came out and used it in a hybrid live/recording environment for over a year As part of the backline and just loved it- After many performances 90% of the guitar slingers could not believe it was a digital amp And it records wonderfully - then when I built my apocalyptic mix suite and recording studio (In late 2020) I picked up the blonde tonemaster - And I picked up a couple Captor Xs As well to use with some Vox and Matchless amplifiers to use with my band both in the studio and live performances " God willing in the summer and fall " Thanks for sharing and I look forward to that fender deluxe reverb episode ...Maximum respect

I use my Tonemaster Deluxe with an XLR cable from the direct out a lot. After 50 years of various amps including many Fenders, I’m very pleased with everything about the Tonemaster. I also currently have a ‘68 Custom Deluxe that I love but don’t want to carry a 50lb amp to gigs. I’m having no luck selling my ‘59 Bassman RI but it will go eventually.

I have a Deluxe Reverb reissue that I re-tubed. It was very time consuming trying different types but I'm never changing. After 50 years of amps it is my favorite.

I think the fender deluxe may likely be the best amp ever-the debate though for me is 5E3 vs Deluxe reverb.

I'm staring down the barrel of selling a bunch of gear I accumulated through the height of quarantine, mostly- I realize now- out of depression, boredom, and a fear of never returning to performing again that combined into this gross acquisition frenzy that- at the time- felt like I was "getting ready for gigs when they come back". I wasn't, and I now own stuff I don't use and that frankly doesn't work well with the pieces that I love and am inspired by. I'd love to talk shop with you one day, as it was your videos that pulled me out of the funk. You're doing really amazing work.

Keith, there are 2 channels I make sure I watch when they post new content. 5 Watt World and Philip McNight. I could list 20 other channels, including Beato, that I really enjoy and find value when it comes to investment of my time. However, I'll watch your live streams (w/o question/idea time stamps...and that is not a criticism) and feel like I've learned something and been a part of a community that I respect and appreciate. This inspired me to use my Deluxe for my Facebook Live over the weekend and man, is it hard to beat. I used my tele into my pedalboard (Xotic EP Boost, Mad Professor Royal Blue, Jetter Grissom and J Rockett The Dude) and it was amazing. Thank you for this.

Bass player here who knocks around on guitar for kicks. What’s amazing to me is the amount of “stuff” you cover that I already know, about an instrument that I don’t even really play. Just got a fantastic deal on a Princeton Reverb ‘68 with a Celestion G10 Gold from a dear friend. It’s my first “real” amp. I don’t anticipate ever getting another amp in my lifetime.

Came here too late for the stream, but your other video on the Deluxe Reverb made me upgrade the firmware on my blackface TMDR to the blonde version... And if I could ever love that amp even more, well, I do now :) I've always been craving the sound of a good Fender tube Deluxe Reverb, but at the same time I consider myself an enthusiast of solid state amps (because of their convenience, stability of tone, price, weight and silent operation), so when the Tone Master first appeared I felt like the perfect amp for me could actually exist... Love Deluxes, both tube and digital, they're just amazing :)

Just thought to say hi, watching the vids after a bit of a break. Always enjoyable stuff! Still impressed how quickly you got the whole talking in front of the camera and making a professional documentary type of production work. Even on a live stream, hard to keep the act together on a live stream like another pre-recorded show! And how much content you have today, in a form that is rare to see on youtube! All that information is difficult to piece together if there was no 5 Watt World! Especially for kids today. And you're starting to get recognition by other youtube channels as well! Nice to see the good content starting to get good visibility. Hopefully it helps with the channel's future, whatever it's gonna bring! My personal favourite amp must be the Laney VH100R. Bought it as a teenager trying to figure out something affordable but "real amp" and as always what kids want, "versatile". Got a single recommendation of VH100R from a guy I knew online, a sample recording of his and decided to go for it. Also learned my favourite band at the time was playing them. It wasn't perfect, but it had really good cleans and some marshall heritage on drive channel. And brilliant spring reverb tank, the best I've heard. Funnily enough, bought it to get marshall like metal tones and I think its best feature is the cleans. Then later bought Lee Jackson GP-1000 preamp that was like my holy grail and it does one sound, isn't perfect but I really like playing it. For one sound it's my favourite. There's been a sneaking GAS towards Soldano SLO100 even though I don't know if it's my forte. And of course before master volume JMP 1959. And Mesa Mark V:25 (or JP) has looked fun for a long time. Definitely Mick Taylor syndrome here.

Talking about Deluxe Reverb amps.I just recently acquired a newer Fender ’68 Custom Deluxe Reverb (Silverface) and I Dig it. Talking about JD Simo I have been aware of him for some time, but recently I saw a performance of his that was recorded at Carter Vintage for the song "Help" and I was like is this the same JD Simo. I did some catching up on his career and I really enjoy his new direction. Talking about downsizing gear? Same here, I sold off a few of my guitars and pedals to buy a Gibson Goldtop R7. Now I just have two guitars an R7 Goldtop and a R7 Les Paul Junior and I'm fine with these two. Also we all like your genuine honesty "Changing out the pickups? I am" @ 59:00 so keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to the short history of "Gorilla Amps".

My one-and-done amp is my Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature 100W with 2x12 cab. But I did just purchase a PRRI FSR w/12" Celestion Alnico Blue for those situations that I wouldn't want to (or couldn't) drag the TR to. The PRRI is remarkably excellent.

Great Live Stream! Sorry I missed it but watched it after the fact! Had to take care of dogs. But as far as amps if I had to choose would be rough if only one because I’m down to 2 amps and both are fenders: 63’ VibroVerb RI (2x10) and a SuperSonic 22 (Clean Ch is a 65 Deluxe Reverb for the most part). I love this stream and look forward to more.

I agree with you on the guitar selection. I have a Japanese Strat from 1984 that I've had modified with a bunch of custom pickups and I love it my main gig guitar. I have an 80 Les Paul Delux. And I really want another Telecaster but I don't know which one. My amplifiers include a vintage vibro champ a 65 Deluxe Reverb a 61 super and my main gigging amp is a 72 Pro Reverb. I've owned a ton and I keep thing it out. I love your Channel you are so informative

At one point I owned and used a 1973 Fender silverface Deluxe Reverb amp. Great amp! I guess that's because it uses the nice tone of the 6V6 output tubes and a 12" inch speaker. It can hold up in a rehersal room even with a loud drummer. But I found that on a large stage it was lacking some power. So I bought a 1968 Fender silverface Vibrolux rated at 35 watts, modified it with a custom baffle that now holds both a 12" and a 10" speaker, and my good friend amp guru Rick Onslow modded it further with 3 channels controlled by a 4 button footswitch, KT66 output tubes and a switch to put it in class A mode. I'm very happy with the result! Best tone! And enough power for any of my gigs.

It's funny to listen to this discussion about the reissue Fender amps, because today I sold the very last Fender tube amp I owned that had a circuit board. The old Fender tube amps (ca. 1946-1980) are amazing and are pretty much the standard by which all other tube amps of the era were judged. They are serviceable, and I personally have Fender tube amps from three decades that are working fine and rocking out every day. I would be willing to bet that there will be very few operating Tone Master amps 40 or 50 or 60 years from now. The new Fender handwired amps are nice but for their cost a real vintage amp can be obtained, complete with the mojo that every old amp possesses.

Love my Gallien Kreuger 250-ML. 100w/side in a lunchbox sized footprint. It’s SUPER lightweight (lt 15 lbs, I think). Had it for 40 years. It’s been re-coned once. I don’t use the onboard effects, other than the KILLER chorus. Great clean tone that can be pushed pretty hard. I’m new to pedals, so next mini-project is to see how the GK takes pedals.

Fun hangout Keith. Yeah-that Barber direct drive in your video with Jeff sounded amazing. I would love to test out a custom '64 and a tone master. Haven't got to try either yet, but I am leaning in the direction of a Deluxe for my next amp purchase, and like you probably with a captor or something similar.

I honestly like most amps and feel l can get an acceptable tone. The sound will influence me and the style l play. I have been a Kemper guy for years now. On occasion I get to play an amp a so called “real amp”. This week a played my guitar through a hand wired VOX AC 30. It’s been quite a while since l played through any amps since Covid craziness. Honestly l DID not miss anything. I love my Kemper and the options and tone shaping.

I run a stereo rig with 2 deluxe reverbs one a blonde and one a black face. It's a great combo!

Favourite amp is a teal stripe Peavey Bandit. Amp I mostly play is a Fender Mustang I at home. Got it for the apartment-friendly replication of a Super Sonic, fell in love with the '59 Bassman setting.

I have the Tone Master. The only way I've found to use headphones is to run the XLR output into a cheap mixer ( Behringer 302 etc) to boost the mic signal and then headphones into that. Tedious, and I agree for the money a headphone jack on the back would have been nice. I have one on my Fender Rumble Bass amp and that's solid state. Very happy to watch the growth of your channel from the first video where you told me I should sell all my gear or some such thing. Regards. N.B. David Attenborough the natural historian and broadcaster always wore the same coloured shirt (for continuity) for the whole series of his show. So they could edit the scenes from around the world later and the clothing wouldn't jar. I think of you in this light. Continuity is a good thing in these interesting times.

Many of us have been through the amp dilemma of wattage vs tone and hitting the sweet-tone-spot for gigging. What has astonished me is the cheap Joyo American OD pedal can dial up tones very close to blackface Deluxe. I run a Joyo through a 50 watt fender style amp...and have the clean head room I need with Humbuckers and any amount of Blackface type OD required to give me that tone. Wouldn`t have believed it if I hadn`t tried it.

I have a 72 ( my first tube amp..I sold it to a friend & bought it back 16 yrs later)..a 65DRRI & a 65Princeton RI...I love them all...& I love my Green Direct Drive..(& Lightspeed)

I think all Fender amps are great. My personal favorite is the Twin Reverb. It's only downside is its weight. My personal thing is to play with a Fender and a Marshall half stack in tandem using a stereo pedal or effects processor. To my ears, the sound is heavenly.

Been using the 68 drri for four years now. It already has the bright cap from the 65 removed. Really awesome amp.

I bought my 65 Reissue in 96 after I bought my 96 Strat. I bought both of them at the GC in San Francisco when it was still down on Washburn Street (now an 11 story residential complex), in the SOMA neighborhood. Aaaaaanyway, I new nothing about amps, really, and I was just trying out a few of them, and playing through the Deluxe Reverb next to the others, it was truly no contest. It sounded so much better than any other amp that I played, it was literally, a no-brainer.

Own a ToneMaster and and 65 Deluxe Reverb. Love em both. The TM is close, but lacks some depth and warmth that tubes deliver. It makes up some ground with the attenuator and light weight. Can't go wrong with either.

I have a 68 custom reissued, absolutely love it.

A friend had a silverface Deluxe I would occasionally borrow. Such a cool, great sounding little amp.

Funny- I watched the replay and when he asked everyone if they could just own one amp- I noticed one person mentioned "Honestly- just one amp- it would be my Boss Katana"- Have to agree there 100%. My modded Katana (100 watt head in a custom-built 1x15 tweed cabinet with a 15" Celestion) get's me every tone I could ever need- from Fender cleans (really- I even nailed a match to my friends Tone King Imperial MKII when it was here for both channels- which is an awesome amp in it's own right) to all the Marshall stuff I own- and can play it anywere- from the bedroom with people sleeping to the stage. I also LOVE the feel of the amp- as everyone talks about how great tube amps "feel"- I find I get that from the Katana at any volume- I have to get my tube amps (12 of them- mostly vintage- mostly unused now!) to their sweet spot to get them to stop feeling stiff- the Katana gets there all the time. Just a terrific amp. Modded.

My main go to amp is a Maz 18 jr 2x10 with a Wamplerer Dual Dusion and a Barber Direct Drive. Great combination with my Teles, Strats, Les Paul and arctop....have used Fender amps for most of my playing/gigging life...Maz 18jr really works for me.

My dream amp is luckily the amp I own - a Fender '68 Custom Deluxe. The '68 omits the bright cap, which I would have had to remove if I'd bought a '65. I prefer the sound of the Celestion on the '68 compared to the Jensen on the '65. It also has a Bassman tone stack on the "custom" channel. I only ever use the "vintage" channel, but it's nice to know I have that Bassman sound in my back pocket, in case the mood strikes. I feel very fortunate to own this silverface Deluxe. It's exactly the tube amp I've always wanted and needed.

I have a Groove-Tubes STPG- which is not far removed from the Deluxe (minus reverb)The addition of a five position "tone" adjustment gives different mid shifts etc , to approximate other than fender amps. As an amp, it can output 30watts(using EL34's) or about15 watts (using 6V6's) but sounds amazing- once you've dialled in your sweet-spot.As well as being an amp, it has an early inbuilt attenuator, which allows you to feed the loaded output straight into the console.The " filtering " is supposed to be modelled on a vintage celestion, and has been called a " treble cutter". Despite having to compensate for some of the high end loss, I've managed to find a fabulous sound in several recordings.I'm unsure as to how similar,if at all, this GT amp is to a Fender deluxe.Although this amp has a master volume and gain adjustment on the preamp, it is just a one channel amp- perfect for studio use( comes with rack-mount ears) but live I have had to use a high-headroom clean sound, and pedal up to use it as a platform: but still I would choose it as the one amp I'd have, if by necessity.Of course, in a live situation , you can also feed the so called "emulator" out- put to the house and get a perfect sound for P A.

i have done so after i saw a picture on a forum from somebody who hooked up the berhinger P1 to the tonemaster and i can play with headphones now and it sounds great

I have a 67 blackface deluxe reverb (my no 1 amp) and a 66. To me the deluxe reverb is the all time best amp ever. I play mostly classic rock (allman bros, zeppelin, etc). But dabble in clean blues and jazz. The DR can do really anything. With or without pedals. To me speaker selection changes the amp a lot and I have gone through a lot of them. Removed 4 bolts in the baffle so I could try celestions too. My favorite speaker after 10 yrs or so now with my 67 is the 55 hz heritage celestion G12H30. I also really like the eminence GASC 64. Both I find to be really versatile to play really anything and both can tame just a little of the brightness of a DR down. I also tend to remove the V1 preamp tube for the first non vibrato channel as I never use it which juices the vibrato channel just a bit. But it is a fantastic amp. Followed closely by my 59 5e3 deluxe (with a 75 hz celestion G12H30 70th anniversary in it) and the Princeton reverb (with a 12). I have a magic amps vibroprince (67 Princeton reverb clone) which is fantastic for that style amp. Old Fenders really are the king of all amps to me. Love the show!

I’m not going to say my tweed blues Jr is the best amp ever but, for whatever reason, I can’t get away from it. It just sounds good to me, takes my pedals well and I like the reverb. Tried changing the speaker but went back to the stock Jensen. Only thing I’ve changed is the tubes and swapped the 12ax7 in the V1 for a 5751 and love the tone. My handle is going to shit but I’ve had it for years and it’s done me right so far. Loud enough to jam and good for home use too. Got my eye on an orange rocker 15 or 32 but I’m in no rush and I’m not totally sold on it yet. So many different options for amps these days, like pedals, and it’ll drive you nuts if you let it.

I love to play my old Princeton. For me it's the best amp from Fender. Got it now for nearly 20 years...

February 1965 all original DR combined with a June 65 SR. Little Apex 808 and zendrive for drive. Heaven. Awesome DR live player is Luke McQueary in Nashville. Sick, monster tone at of that little workhorse amp.

Ha ha two connections from what you’re saying - I have the Red Dirt Mini on my board. I use it in conjunction with two other gain / boost / fuzz type pedals. Also, I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 1958 Champ in absolutely amazing condition ... all original parts. Had to replace a couple of capacitors, which we put inside the covers for the original ones. My favourite amp. :-)

My favorite is a Dr. Z ZWreck. I can do anything I want to clean, including pedals. It sounds great distorted and seems to have a lot of sustain. Most of the time, I use an attenuator.

I have a ‘70s vibrochamp and a ‘63 vibroverb reissue. The reissue is amazing - great cleans. I think the 2 x 10s give a cool sound. I’d like a deluxe sometime - the tonemaster sounds like a good gigging amp.

Dr. Z Z-Lux. Maybe the best amp ever for me. And I've gone through a lot. But I also visited Mark at Victoria recently to have him work on my Vibro King and my Vicky 45410, and he showed me his new creation, the Club Deluxe. Wow! A Blackface Deluxe circuit in a tweed style combo cab. Awesome!

I'd have to say I think it's the Bassman. Most every amp manufactured since is based on it. From the 1959 Superlead to the SLO to any modern Push-pull amp has the bassman as its foundation.

Also wish the Fender Deluxe Reverb ToneMaster had a headphone jack. If it did, would be perfect for my needs

I've had a couple of '60's vibrochamps, a '62 Princeton, a '78 Valley arts stage 2 mod Princeton reverb, a '68 Princeton reverb, couple of early '70's Deluxes, a '68 Super reverb and now a '76 deluxe reverb that has been blackfaced, both channels put in phase with each other. a Vintage 30 speaker and both tremolo and reverb available on both channels. For relatively cheap, this amp rivals my (now gone) Valley arts Princeton and has everything you could want from a Deluxe type amp.

I bought a '79 pull boost SF Deluxe Reverb this past summer, mostly after hearing and watching AskZac channel and coming to the conclusion that 22 Watts is really, power-wise, kinda the best place for me at this time. I disabled the pull-boost (its horrible) the only and year they did this I believe and modified it to be a pull bright (used same value cap that is used on Super Reverbs because I think the typical vibrato channel on Deluxes to be a abit too bright) and this allows the vibrato channel to have the same tone as the normal channel. The only issue with the amp I am experiencing is the tremolo, I think the "roach" LDR is going bad in the trem circuit as the tremolo is abit weak sounding and needs to be replaced but thats for next time when I feel compelled to look into the chassis as its already fully re-capped. I'm a pedal guy and I agree I have not had any issues with most overdrives/distortions thru a deluxe amp, fuzz is a little bit of a different story but fuzzes can be finnicky with many amps,. You have to use a fuzz thats voiced well with the combo of the type of guitar and amp you are using. I think that most of my playing days of playing loud noisy post-punk are behind me after playing a Fender Twin Reverb (back breakers!) and then 50W Traynor (Made in Canada, YBA-1s... their version of a Bassman meets a Marshall Plexi w/o pregain volume) for years thru a 2x12 cab, the vintage Traynors are amazingly loud Fender-clean for the wattage, have solid tone and still a good bang for the buck though that has changed the last 5-10 years. I'm closing in on 50 years old and lugging a heavy combo (like the twin) or a head and 2x12 or even 1x12 are getting to me physically (sadly, I have low back issues). The Deluxe isn't terribly heavy and power-wise is really the ceiling of where I can play it at a low volume and have good enough recording tone at home without upsetting the neighbors, I'm not a big fan of attenuators. I still lean on my "blackfaced" - SF Princeton Reverb more for my at home situation. Waiting for the pandemic to end to see how this Deluxe Reverb will perform in a band situation and louder rehearsal small gig situations (thats why PAs exist) but I think I'll be just fine.

Opened for Van Walks a couple of shows. . He gets amazing sounds out of his Fender Deluxe Reverb RI . So I bought one too. ! Put a Celestion G12H30 in it. Oh yea !!

Maybe you guys could use a good laugh... My first "amp" was a hand-me-down stereo (silver face now that I think about it LOL) from my older brother. I rigged a 1/4" jack from Radio Shack to the RCA jacks and played my first guitar, some ES 335 clone, into what I think was a DOD overdrive right into the stereo. Second amp was a POS Gorilla that had the scratchiest pots known to man. Third amp was a Squire 10 watt, my first new amp purchase, that sounded pretty good but didn't have reverb. Fourth amp was (still have it) a Fender Sidekick Reverb 30 and I still love it. Fifth amp (still have it) was one of those novelty "Little Smoky" amps. Last amp purchase was about twenty years ago and it's a Peavey Classic 30 which sounds best on the clean channel when the volume is 75% or up. That volume will tear your head off and since I like my neighbors I hardly ever play that Peavey. The Sidekick is my favorite by far because there's no tubes to worry about, it has that lovely Fender reverb and it's loud enough should I need the volume. Just wish it had a second channel.

My number one amp is a custom amp that Bruce Zinky built for me, heavily based on a blonde Bassman/63 vibroverb. Channels (normal and Abby-normal) are in phase so they can be blended and you get reverb and trem on both channels. Trem is VERY intense. I called it the “Other Amp Killer.” Bruce asked what the other amp was and I replied, doesn’t matter.😏 Honorable mention: my Boogie Mk III

I have a vintage ‘65 Deluxe Reverb and they are magical indeed. I would have a tough time choosing between my Fender Deluxe or my Bogner Shiva as my one and only amp.

The closest I've come to a classic device was a toastmaster blender. I bought it primary due to name recognition. It performed the function. But I'm much more sophisticated these days. Now, I listen carefully beforehand.

The best amp I ever played in a studio was a 1974 Deluxe Reverb. That’s a silver face and it was very impressive.

Firmware updates for TMDR (black) which address the bright cap and reverb sensitivity issues are available. I'm currently using the update that does both.

I've played through Fender amps for decades. I've owned (and/or played a lot) 69 Champ 76 Bassman 10 64 Bassman 70 Deluxe 72 Bandmaster 76 Musicmaster Bass 68 Showman I think the deluxe has the nicest reverb interaction with the amp. (As most Fender 6 spring tanks are identical in circuit) My favorites are the tube rectified, class A Champ, and my very favorite, the Showman. The Showman has incredible headroom and power. None of the other Fenders I listed do metal as well, because the norm is ragged bass freq. Hooked to 2 (or 4) 12" speakers, the Showman will keep up with the loudest drummer at the biggest venue, and when properly attenuated; it's as quiet as electric guitar should be.

Best thing I ever did was to never sell my 1968 dripedge Vibrolux. It was the first amp I bought and it's still with me and an incredible very unique sounding one. Sort of in between a blackface and a silverface. It also has a metal Fender logo on the grillcloth, like the older Fender white amps. All original except for a few tubes! I've had 2 players play through it and immediately go out to buy a Vibrolux. Then they spent hundreds trying to get it to sound like mine. When you find magic, hold on to it! I've had many amps bought and sold. It took me quite a few to realize the ultimate amp for me was right there all along. I lucked out. Not so smart with guitars though. Sold a few guitars that today would buy me a few cars. But I was almost homeless and desperate. I don't like to dwell too much on those (it hurts). The new Blackface RI are really nice (not so much the silverface ones).
