Five Years Later… Is TikTok Still Cringe? 

It's cringe but not because it's a cringe thing by itself, but because it's a mirror to our somewhat embarrassing society

You know what really grinds my gears? RU-vid shorts users that think TikTok is cringe like they aren't taking the 3 month old scraps of TikTok.

Ironic reality: Harlem Shake would've be a cringe trend if it had existed in the TikTok era.

It still is cringe, but I still acknowledge the fact that it’s by far the dominate social media platform for anyone under age 20 by now. If it is banned further though, people will just migrate to RU-vid shorts or instagram reels.

TikTok isn’t really that cringe, but it IS extremely bad for your attention span. I honestly hate that all other social media platforms have their own form of TikTok now, because it is quite literally designed to keep you watching for as long as possible without you realizing it.

Short Answer? Yes. Long Answer? Yes, it still is cringe.

Vine had its cringe moments, TikTok is nearly 100% cringe.

As an Australian, I can confirm that we think tiktok is still cringe due to our severe lack of internet access.

Watch it be praised the same way Vine is right now, after it eventually shuts down perhaps a decade or more/less later It's all about which age demographic is the dominant voice of the internet at the time. It won't be long before said demographic becomes those who grew up with Tik Tok, making them way more sympathetic (and eventually nostalgic) about the app.

Tik tok has a reliance on pop culture music at its core and that is why I don’t use it regardless of the quality of the videos on the platform

About 3 years ago, when I was still in high school, some of the girls in my study hall would always try to make videos on whatever asinine trend was going on at the time and without fail myself and a few others guys would make obnoxiously loud sounds to disrupt them

Cringe occurs in all social media sites. It's easier to find "relatively objective cringe" on short-form content since it's easier to finish and find anew, therefore subjecting yourself to more cringe than most other forms of content. The reason however I refuse to use tiktok is not because of the cringe within it, do I think majority of the things I've seen on my relatives/siblings tiktok cringe? Yes, definitely. But my main reason for not having touched tiktok is because I am one of thise cyber security freaks who thinks tiktok's one of the most invasive websites in regards to privacy. Unfortunately as easy as it is to label specific social media apps as "cringe" or "annoying", these apps are only what they are because of the PEOPLE behind them. Humans make the content, humans support the trends. Its people that are cringe, not the apps themselves.

(squishy, floating bread because it's "funny" and totally not cringe) "DiScOvEr SaTiSfAcTiOn" (whispers, I don’t get asmr) I even saw an ad with someone putting a fart machine on a dog to wake up another dig with the first one's farts? No thanks. DikCok isn't for me. I'm not even 20 and I still feel like I'm too old for it

Tiktok isnt cringe. The people on it can be. But we've all watched at least one funny TikTok whether it be on TikTok itself, or on a different website.

theres some ight content on there, but most of it can be found in instagram reals or yt shorts. my distaste for the app comes from the interface and its constant barrage of videos that dont stop, its a messy interface that makes my head hurt

Tik tok isn't inherently cringe but the people who use it and some of the systems used are abhorrent and is why I don't want to use it, particularly when other site do the same and have a larger amount of users who aren't socially deprived

Tikity tok is the cringe epicenters, the nucleus of all that is cringe. It in of itself feeds on cringe. The very idea of cringe spawned from tiktok just as tiktok spawned from cringe you cannot erase or destroy it. Only by becoming one with the tok will you find true happiness with the cringe.

Ah yes, TikTok, the app where once you download it and make an account, the Chinese Government collects your phone information from the day you sign in until the day you delete it.

Not anymore. Until i started using TikTok I've realized how fun and entertaining it is. After being on the app for a while, TikTok's algorithm (better than youtube's), already figures out your preferences in content. If you hate cringe content, than your most likely never going to see it after an hour or two. Maybe even after 30 minutes. I )Know people on RU-vid hate TikTok, but once you download it, you're gonna realize how fun and entertaining it is, and how TikTok has hundreds of thousands of videos that can easily satisfy YOU, not just one cringey community like you guys think. Personally I do think TikTok IS funnier than RU-vid, and TikTok is 1,000,000x better than Shorts.

It's still for losers, nothing has changed.

I like clips that trancend TikTok and make their ways to other platforms. This way this type of content goes through kind of a moderation, leaving mostly good and enjoyable bits for me to consume without ever needing to install the app and dive into it myself.

I used to have the tik tok is cringe mindset but I eventually gave in and downloaded it. It's not bad at all. It has the same amount of cringe content as any other social media apps. The communities are much better there than youtube honestly. Half the memes uploaded to youtube are either tik tok reposts or inspired by tik tok templates. most people who say it's cringe consume content from it daily

It's always been, and will always be.

It worsens your entire mental health and attention span, and while some of the content isn't that bad, most of it is just really cringe gen z stuff. Tiktok has just become the gen z platform and it now supports all of the stupidity that gen z has come to. Not to mention all of the stuff in the terms of service that lets tiktok practically spy on you.

I know its a meme but; It's only cringe if you watch cringe. My tiktok is filled with useful info/tidbits/news, motivation, movie/tv clips, memes, skits, gaming, art and recipes. I don't get any dancing or lip sync stuff since i never watched them when shown to me. Sure there are times like when I'm playing totk where I get more gaming stuff or I watch some tv show clip and get mor of that but I dont get anything bad or cringe, my selection gets temporarily changed. I'd say i use it more than youtube at this point, most youtube shorts for me end up being reuploaded from tiktok to boot.
