I am working on my first video in Descript, and it takes a bit to remember all these little details. Previously I just recorded straight to my iPhone, now I have a camera set up with the Elgato Prompter. I guess we will try again tomorrow with claps...lol. When I start editing with the Underlord, it makes my text off, then skips words at the end of sentences. Very frustrating.

What about captions being not in sync. Do you know how to fix that?

Good to know this kind of stuff Ms. Meredith. On occasion I'll have to sync my audio to video, but I just eyeball it in DaVinci Resolve (I use the free version). I've been lucky that I haven't had to sync more than one or two clips. 😎

I wish I understood why this happens and doesn't happen all the time. I have done quite a few budget videos of my work for RU-vid, but my head ends up "swimming" because I get impatient!!! Not your problem, but one thing I'd love to resolve in an economic way would be to find a prompter so that I wouldn't always have to memorizes and at time follow a prompter when I perform, or at least make videos. How might I reach out to you?

Hi Meredith, mine are always about 0.4 secs out of sync too. But I’d have just given up defeated if it wasn’t for this video. Question: what’s the benefits of using squadcast with descript vs just descript? I’m about ready to trash the whole software as it’s super laggy and having constant issues but I keep going back to it trying to give it another shot. Maybe squadcast is what I need to make things work again?

@@cocoscott1898 I don’t think using squadcast is going to solve your lag problems unfortunately. I think lag is a result of a bunch of things, one possibly being the computer you’re using (but I could be wrong). I have been recording externally (with ecamm) and importing it and haven’t had lag problems or out of sync audio!

How are you messing with the size of the clip? How did you zoom in/out?

What about if the audio and video are in sync together, but the script is out of sync? I've got an issue where the words of the script precede the video/audio by 2-3 seconds. How do I get those synced back together?

What if you record audio in something else like Audacity, can you merge it with the video in Descript?

@@meredithmarsh You are the only person who has said yes to that question. Can you point me in the direction of 'how to merge' audio and video files in Descript. Or record video in Descript, audio in Audacity and merge them in another piece of software? The reason is on tutorials (like you talk about in this video), the audio portion is so much more important to adjust. Because my voice is droning on while my audience is looking at a Google doc. Adjusting voice levels in a robust audio editing tool is SO important.

@@juliegroth3427 so I was just testing out something similar to this. And it doesn’t exactly merge if you have recorded the audio separate. Because ideally, you would have to add the video first and then add the audio also discovered that if you add the audio and it’s not in the script sequence it won’t transcribe with the words. This software hasn’t figured out yet. But if you are bringing over footage with the audio, then it’s fine.
