THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! The Fluidmaster in our guest bathroom decided to keep running with the tank full. Guess we don't use it often enough. After rwatching your video, I was able to get the cap off without breaking anything, and cleaned the valve seal with a tissue. I somehow managed to get it reassembled without breaking anything, and.... it works!! No trips to Ace Hardware! No major plumbing fracus. My wife is happy! Thank you.

Thank you! Cost me less than $2.00 for the new valve. I am a older female that has very little skills or background in repairs for my home. With the help of these You Tube videos, I was able to stop 2 running toliets. One only needed the flapper replaced and the second, a new valve seal. Thank you again!

Very helpful video. The only thing I would add is to turn the water valve back completely on after changing the seal. I tried only turning it a bit to make sure it worked, but the water pressure must not have been enough to make a good seal, because it just ran and ran with the water on only a little.

Attention: if you have an American Standard fill valve model 0925A (blue top) it was made by Fluidmaster and takes the same washer. To confirm, just look at the top of the black float for the Fluidmaster brand and model number (400). If you have an older valve you won't be able to disconnect the float rod but you can follow the same twist-and-remove instructions to get to the washer.

Our valve didn't keep running, it just slowed down to a trickle taking 30 minutes to fill. I took it apart and cleaned it but no luck. After buying and replacing this little valve seal it works like new. Crazy to think that all these years I have been replacing the whole thing every time it malfunctioned. I still don't understand why the new one worked and the old one didn't. They both look exactly the same, no wear or broken parts on the old one. It's a little more stiff is all.

My problem is that the valve won't open when the water level drops. I have to bump the valve arm to get it to open. I replace the valve, and a couple of months later, it's the same thing again. How do I fix that? I'm tired of buying/installing valves every couple of months. Is there a better brand I could switch to?
@HacksbyDad
@HacksbyDad Год назад
I've only used Fluidmaster fill valves and haven't experienced a similar problem. If you disconnect the valve arm from the float screw, does the float freely move up and down? Does the float rub against the tank wall?
@johnstorton
@johnstorton Год назад
@@HacksbyDad The float moves freely. When I flush the toilet, the water drains normally, but no water flows (usually). The slightest tap on the valve arm gets it to work.
@fredbadgett7962
@fredbadgett7962 Год назад
@@johnstorton Did you hold the float under water to put a little water weight in the float reservoir? a tiny amount helps overcome friction. On extreme cases i cut a 3 inch piece of solder bend an L in it and place it in the small hole on the float. Adjust the water level accordingly.
@johnstorton
@johnstorton Год назад
@@fredbadgett7962 The float drops immediately after flushing, and the arm goes down as well, but water doesn't flow until I very lightly tap the valve arm sideways. The float is definitely not the problem.
