Crazy how I've bought cheap keyboard my entire life and they've never given me issues asides from drops/massive spills. First time I buy an "expensive" keyboard, nothing but issues. The amount of corrections I needed to make typing this is insane.
They all fail eventually. Unfortunately, some do it sooner than they should. They can test to make sure every key works at the factory, but no way to know which ones will fail on key press number 350,000.
Got that same exact keyboard in the mail today and didnt realize until later that the "B" key would double press. This trick fixed my issue immediately, thanks man! bbbbbbbbbb :)
I was halfway through writing an essay for school when all of my E's started double or even triple-typing themselves. It was absolutely infuriating and I tried lots of things including restarting my computer. Turns out I just needed to remove the key and blow some air into it. I didn't even have compressed air, I just gave it a few good blows, and it completely fixed the problem. The E Man, you really lived up to your name.
Well I'm glad I could help you figure out EExactly how to fix it lol! But for real, double typing is super annoying when writing, glad you could resolve the issue, hope you get a good mark!
omg i tried what you did too and it seems to be working for me too! just that in my case is c and i gave it a few good blows. hopefully this would last!!
@@THEEMan been some time since I tried it, and it's working now !! slightly long msg if anyone's interested. I got my 2nd keyboard from taoabao (china amazon) and the "c" key kept giving me issues, almost had to pay for return and all. so glad I came across this vid! After giving it a few hard blows, it was double/triple typing lesser, and after a few days it miraculously worked properly. so all's good and I don't have to get a new keyboard wooohooo~ :D
If you have a faulty switch, you can also swap the faulty switch with another good switch that you never use, such as the bottom right ALT, FN, CTRL or menu switches. Or even the top right PRTSC, SCRLK and PAUSE switches. I do this whenever one of my switches double-clicks.
I already wanted to replace the keys completely, but with air spray the problem has fortunately solved, a lot of dirt came out of the keys and fortunately it no longer writes double letters. Thank you very much.
Okay so the space on my keyboard (5 year old Razer Blackwidow) was double typing, happened after i cleaned my keyboard. Tried with a blow gun, vacuum. It only worked when I poured the 99% alcohol inside the switch while pressing it, the tactile sound started to be audible again and when i turned it on, it was fixed. Thank god, saved me from buying a new keyboard. Thanks!
Lol I clicked on your video because my E key is broken today and thought its a common issue when I read your youtube channel name. Thx E Man, I'll givee it a try!
Thank you for the help. Cleaning it by blowing compressed air (well, okay, I used an electronic dust blower thingie on the highest setting) into the switch fixed my e key!
I have a Razer blackwidow v3 tkl and i just sprayed a can of compressed air around the affected key without removing the key cap and it solved the issue. It was probably just some dirt or debris messing with the activation.
Over the past few months I suddenly had my typing go from working normally, to double typing/not typing certain keys, to a few days later fixing itself completely, to breaking again, to fixing itself again, back and forth several times. Yesterday I couldn't type without tons of errors and today, having done nothing to fix it, everything is typing perfectly again. Does anyone know what the issue is that's happening here? It seems quite clearly not to be a physical keyboard issue at all.
@@THEEMan Thanks much for taking the time to reply. So this keyboard is a Logitech G810, it's fairly new and is in excellent condition. The wire is a heavy braided wire. One of the things I tried doing was simply unplugging and re-plugging it, but the problem persisted, so I don't think it's a damaged or a loose wire issue. I'm concerned that it's a virus or some sort of piggy-backing going on but I couldn't find anything in a google search for this issue aside from fixes that have to do with the keys physically needing cleaning. I don't recall how many times it's happened now, but it will work perfectly and then for a few days or a week it will suddenly get constant double typing and key presses not registering, and then the next day without my having done anything it will go back to working perfectly for weeks.
@@myrrhbear I've never heard of a virus messing with keystrokes registering, but I won't say that's impossible. I know when my keyboard gets dirty it'll only effect it sometimes, coming and going. But the fact that cleaning doesn't work, I can't say what the problem is. It's possible the key switches need to be re-soldered, maybe the physical connections on the board are weak? But that's behind my know how, I'd probably pay someone to fix that for me.
@@myrrhbear I have EXACTLY the same issue with my G810. It's really incosistently broken. Some days the whole keyboard double taps, others it works mostly fine.
@@LoLeanderx I'm sorry to hear you have the same problem, and thank you for replying to let me know. It makes me think maybe it's something possibly specific to the G810 since that's also what I'm using. If you ever find a solution I'd be very appreciative to know what it was. So far I haven't found any solution. Right now it's been a couple of weeks without any double typing happening at all, but that's what happened before, and then it came back, went away a while, came back, etc...
I own a TTEsports Poseidon Z with Kailh Blue Switches. Around 2 Years after purchase the Key Chattering started. And it was bad. Really bad. At the time I had a backup Keyboard lying around (later got fried thanks to a USB port connected to a Firewire. Lol) and never really gave it too much thought at first. At some point it started to bug me, and being a technical person I came to the conclusion that maybe a chip or so got fried. Or some contacts just shorted. I opened the Keyboard and tried to ascertain if there was any damage. None. Even tested the conductor paths. Nothing. After some more research I found out the Problem was common and called Key Chattering. I never even thought of that before. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Don't think to complicated, even if it is something you do on an every day basis. And for every German watching this, you can simply use some lighter fluid as well. (In Germany this gets used for cleaning quite a lot.) Thank you for the Video mate.
I'm experiencing a strange issue with my mechanical keyboard. When I press the right arrow key, it not only moves the cursor right but also sends additional signals, such as typing the number "0" or occasionally triggering the "Insert" key. This behavior occurs inconsistently but frequently enough to disrupt my work. Here's what I've tried so far: Tested on both Windows and Linux: The problem persists across different operating systems, so it doesn't seem to be a software issue. Changed USB ports and cables: No change in behavior.
guys if u have hotswap keyboard and it happens you need to add layer of tin on your switches, also i have this problem only with gateron switches and similar, cherry mx have thick enough legs and there is no problem
Logitech peripherals are just poorly made and overpriced these days. My G913 is still under warranty and it's already having the double typing issue. My MX Anywhere 3 is having clicking issues with the left button (also under warranty)... I'm speechless. I'm without speech.
What anime is your outro song from? I know I recognize it, but I cannot place it for the life of me! EDIT: Nvm found it, The second op from Hero Academy, good stuff!
I showed this to my friend. He goes "I'm a man like Clarkson. I like Tools. When i had a keyboard issue i took a hammer. After one to three swings it worked perfectly." The funny part is. I was there when he did so; and legit it fixed his stuck key.
I chose this kind keyboard because in lot video said the benefit it can least for "forever" but no one ever mention this problem. now I experienced it and feel very disapointed like I hope never choice it.
For me, it may be a problem in Windows because no matter what keyboard I use, it writes twice and when I use the keyboard on my friend's PC, everything works normally
Important: I don't talk about lubrication in the video. The alcohol will remove most or all of the switch's lubrication and this should be replaced, you can buy a tube of switch lube cheap on Amazon. If this problem persists, you can keep reapplying the treatment, but you might just have to replace a switch, which in most cases will require a soldering iron.
Thank you so much for the solution. I bought G915 keyboard in 2020 and it is the best keyboard I've ever had by far. I don't want to change it by another. After some months the E key started to double typing. Then I changed the keyboard by another (it was in guarantee) and the new keyboard started to double type E key after 1 year (the same key!!). It is not in guarantee anymore and your solution worked for me!! Thanks! Let see how much time it will work 🤞🏻Should I apply some lubrication as you say in this message or just continue working with it until next double typing?
I've had this bullshit happening for over a week on the newest replacement of my Logitech G513 kkeyboard. I'm on my 4th replacement at this point. Frankly, Logitech needs to get their shit together.
I bought this keybbooard and withhin 2 weeks of using it ssoo many keys double click (it was 160$) thhis is ridiculoous seeing as i boughht 2 othher before this and they broke within 3 wweeks, i guess 400 $ cant even buy you a couple months of a keybboard thhat works. (im not even boothering correcting the typos jusst to show yall hhow terrible it is) DEFINETELY RETURNING THIS.
because i dont own any compressed air, and I'm too lazy to go to the store to buy any. Instead I blew on the switch and it fixed the double clicking problem. lol
I bought a loogitech keybooard and I am totally furious that this is soo common. I thought buying logitech was like buying toyota. Can you tell which key is doouble pressing?
While very useful tip, I'm truly perplexed why you didn't mentioned replacing the faulty switch, like, at all, instead going to the nuclear "replace the keyboard"... lol
You definitely have point there. I didn't want to cover soldering in this video, but I could have mentioned it as an option. I figured for the majority of users with non-hot-swappable keyboards, returning a faulty board covered by a warranty is a more likely option.
I recommend using an Air Duster & Vacuum Cleaner 2 in 1 instead of compressed air as this can damage your electronic devices over time as I have recently learnt this.
@@gamernature That only happens if you're overusing and tilting your can for a while. You'll feel it get cold in the hand before that happens though in which case just let it rest for a minute or two. Important part is bursting it, not holding it when using.
@@ExySmexy I do know that and also I have worked in IT and watched video's so I Recommend not using it as I use to use canned air and now stopped because it can cause damage to equipment overtime. I now use a eleltric rechargable e in 1 air blower and vacuum as it is much safer.
believe it or not this can be a software issue as well. i have one of those razer black widow keyboards and it had some weird double typing going on, but once I had razer synapse installed and running, the problem completely went away.
I have a question, I bought a new mechanical keyboard and in the past few days, the keyboard has been producing a double keystroke and then it stops after a few seconds. However, it happened again the next day for a few seconds. Is it normal for a mechanical keyboard or should I replace it? thank you
i have used 70% isopropyl alcohol but only used it when the switch was out of the keyboard. it seems to have fixed my issue tho. is it fine that i did so?
for me its not just one or two keys, its literally all of them, and it not just double presses, it rapidfires any key i just barely press. it started just now, and im clueless on what to do
I have never tried the alcohol thing. Too afraid to try. What I initially did was swap the switches (I don't throw them away as they might still be usable). But when this turned out to be costly as more and more switches are having chatter after just 2 months (Glorious Pandas), I decided to install the Keyboard Chattering Fix software which does take away the chatter but not the non-responsive keys. So I changed all switches to Drop + Invyr Holy Pandas and still chattering started after 2 months though of course I was not bothered anymore because of the chattering fix. Then lo and behold, I changed my keycaps from SA to MT3 to finally cherry keycaps and all chatter simply disappeared. Even if I am still using the chatter fix software at the end of the day, my logs always show 0 chatter. It really is probably the stem. Plus I always make sure to blow air into my switches once in a while and ensure that they are still not getting loose as sometimes happen with hot-swaps when you are using the keyboard too vigorously.
How is it possible that a literal keycap would fix a problem? I would understand if a switch did the fix but ironically you said they are the problem after two months.
@@innogz6200 it's because the higher the profile the more wobbly they are which can also cause the chattering. at least on my GP they were. so when I changed to the lower profile, the wobble was noticeably gone and so was the chatter
I was thinking the same. My RK61 which has a default OEM profile is working fine even after doing some mods, but after I changed my keycap to cherry profile, a few keys start to chatter. I'm also using the software you mentioned but it didnt help me that much. Now, I'm waiting for the new switch which I hope solve the chattering (tho i already tried using extra switches but nothing happened so i bought other kind of switch). If it still didnt solve my prob, then i might stick to the default keycaps 😭😭
I would argue that applying alcohol and massaging the switch is significantly less risky than all the soldering you have to do to replace the switch; especially if you're an amateur.
Tomorrow i'll try the compressed air and if worse comes to worse i'll try the 99% alchool, i did try to blow, and it's really odd. The issue istantly goes away even with a quick blow, and it comes back with TIME not even by pressing the key, any ideas? Like, if dirt was the issue, it should not come back without even pressing the key down, it should eventually come back cause it's stuck in there, but if the switch was faulty it shouldn't be fixing itself with a quick blow.. Sooo yeah, don't really know wtf is going on
I feel you man, I've had the issue come back after a while even after doing the alcohol treatment. I think some key switches are just more prone to having the issue, like maybe they aren't attached as well or something and let more dust in. Anyway, good luck with cleaning your key!
Someone in the comments stated it doesn't sound the same, the person who made this video stated in response maybe it acted as lubrication. Let me clear something up, switches use lubrication, when you use alcohol especially 99 percent alcohol but any really, you strip the lubricating oil out. This is not a wise thing to do. Typically you use alcohol to clean electrical contacts and that's why his method is working, but you are stripping the lube from the switch itself. You will need to re-lubricate the switch, go look up a video on how to do it. If you have hot swappable switches absolutely don't use this method, take the switch out, clean contacts, and relube the switch if needed. After blowing it out of course.
This is an oversight with my video, I should have mentioned to relubricate the switch. I meant this video as a quick fix, which is why I suggest returning the keyboard instead of trying to unsolder and resolder the troublesome switch, since most users won't. But I will add a note about lubrication to the pinned comment, thank you for this comment!
@@THEEMan hey no worries man, I honestly didn't expect a reply lol. You did a service by bringing content to help people I hope you don't take my comment as a negative. It also turned me on to checking out other content of yours. Thanks for vids man.

@@refleccos2079 My dude did you fix the space bar problem? I just bought the same keyboard tkl version and I'm having the same problem with my P key. the keyboard looks an feels nice, I'm just disappointed because of this issue.
I think they are made to fail... My g512 started to have issues a few months after the warranty expired. It seemed somewhat randomly as sometimes i noticed doubled letters or missing ones or added ones in weird places of my words. Just now and then but became more and more often and annoying. So i tried to drop some alcohol in between the plastic somewhat like here and didn't fix anything. Then went and desoldered the switches that i thought were problematic, open them and cleaned them and issues persisted. Desoldered them again and replaced them with others less used from f keys, pause, scroll lock and such. Seemed to had worked for a while but started to have issues again and didn't had the papers with my notes so i guessed if the issues are new keys or same ones. It would seem are mostly the same. So i figured maybe to try and change them altogether but didn't found romer g switches locally so i bought a second hand g910 which the seller said it has only a few keys with issues. After testing it it had a lot more than my g512 even though initially seemed being mostly in good working condition. Its issues were similarly random making it difficult to determine which ones are faulty and which are good to use. So then i went back to my 512 and to my surprise was working way better with almost no issues, but after several weeks the repeating annoying issues came back. Now i'm suspecting that maybe the switches may not have issues at all and the problem be with the board's chip or somethin like that. And seeing many others having similar issues it may be that it's either intentional or they cut some corners in their build and the chip or something on the board fails that results in some sort of ghosting and repeating inputs.
My pricey evangelion 02 keyboard does this crappy thing of repeated keys even when I don’t press Was gonna return it to the retail store until I saw this vid
Uff man... I just bought my asus rog... Y key is double typing, sometimes even triple typing sometimes no registering.... This is so scuffed, i hate returning items but i guess i have no other option ....
Like the oil for putting on cutting blades and clippers? I never considered that as an option, but I wouldn't recommend it, putting anything in the switch that won't evaporat could potentially mess up the switch
Weitrdly enough my keyboard gives a double ' and a double `. Tjose two are the only keys that are doubled. Weirdly enough on my Whatsapp on my pc it works like it should. I have no idea what option in Windows triggers this.
I use 95% alcohol bought from a pharmacy, waited 15 minutes for it to dry. The issue is gone but I thinksome switches are not clicky anymore... Some have lost their tactility even. I don't know what I did wrong.
That is a pretty severe reaction, but the alcohol probably also removed the switch's lubrication, you can get some new switch lube pretty cheap on Amazon. That might help.
@@THEEMan Thankfully it's not a big deal for me right now, otherwise I would need replace the swithces eventually and resoldering with a cheap soldering iron can be hard.
Vaseline can be damaging to plastic, you should never put it anywhere near key switches. I'd clean the switch as thoroughly as possible with alcohol, but wipe away any external Vaseline before opening the switch
@@steadystopmotion6361 you shouldn't have to completely remove the switch to clean it out, unless it's dead and needs to be replaced. Technically even non removable switches can be removed with the use of a soldering iron, but that's a somewhat complex job.
@@THEEMan @THE E Man I see, I cleaned it without removing the switch. If the problem persists I'ma search on how to take it out with a soldering iron. Thanks again, I appreciate that you took time to reply to my comment.
I can see that, I'm sorry to hear that. Sometimes it's cause by an actually faulty switch, not uncommon for Logitech. I'd try to return it or have it replaced via warranty
