The Sony PS5 launched alongside the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S a few weeks ago. While it has been nearly impossible to get one with scalpers buying up every console available, many of us have been lucky enough to get our hands on a shiny new PS5 and Xbox Series console. The PS5 has cutting edge technology with an incredible AMD SoC based on Zen 2 and RDNA2 that offers stellar gaming performance with ray tracing, the option for 4K 120Hz and even 8K. But not everything is perfect with the PS5. The glossy plastic is horrid looking, the console can capture 4K gameplay but doesn't do so by default, the 667GB of user storage will run out soon, and more. Let's fix those issues in this PS5 troubleshooting video!

EDIT: Want to address a remark I think many missed... you needn’t disassemble the console to perform this modification. Doing it with just the side panels off works very well. Take care of the area with the buttons and you’ll be fine. take off the side panels and apply a 3m carbon fiber vinyl skin from amazon. ezdubs. would take lots of razor blade work but would be hella clean.

Get a microfiber towel or swifter duster, and use it gently every other week for dust. No need to do all of this, will keep it clean.

With the amount of time spent disassembling and reassembling you could have earned enough $ to just buy a skin for the glossy section and slap it on. ... Or use a brush or brushed wheel for the brushed look....

@@snazzy you just have to skin both sides of the panel. Or even better; they make this stuff called paint! ... Those external panels are some of the easiest shapes to paint. If you're gonna spend all that time disassembling the machine you might as well do more of a dynamic aesthetic change.

Yeah, you can only skin the middle part, and you also won't damage a single-use thermal pads for the memory because it's already being run at temperatures close to the red line.

Well he did provide step by step instructions. But also if you spend the bulk of your time building things, its obviously much easier. Linus can put together a computer in his sleep whereas others would need every manual/tutorial video out there.

I see that all the ps5 problems are more common on the disc version . Glad I got the digital. Had mines for months and haven't had any issues or problems. I'm so happy with my console.i will never be taking mines apart ever nor will I be trying to fix it myself if I do have any issues or problems in the future. I will be sending mine back to Sony to get replaced if anything happens. I don't see the point in fixing a broken console.just send it back and get a new one

I use a 500gb Samsung T5 on my Xbox One X and it’s the single best “upgrade” or accessory to buy for it. Games like Forza Horizon 4 or GTAV are so much faster than before it feels like a totally different generation / console. Forza loads in about 1/2 the time and the menus and selections are significantly more responsive. An external SSD (especially a high end Samsung model) will always be a console recommendation for me.

People are concerned over lots of things that others find weird. I wouldn't disassemble it that far either even though I dislike fingerprints. But I also don't get how people are concerned about clothes/shoes, hand bags, cell phone brands, etc, etc. Some people love $500 jeans, some people love $30 jeans. They're both still pants.

It's NOT easy to pull the PS5 apart like that. Noobs are going to damage stuff and misplace screws. Why wouldn't you just buy a Dbrand strip or something and do a simple overlay without ripping the console apart? It's a bit more expensive than buying a pack of scourers, but much LESS expensive than replacing your PS5 or sending it to a shop for fixing.

The black plastic on the PS5 reminds me a lot of the finish on the Wii U. That console could also be scratched by a fingernail, annoyingly, but given the lighting in my room it's very hard to see the scratches and I barely touch much of either console so I'm not too concerned over it. Wish they had gone with a different, more durable finish though.

@@fisniksertolli I don’t believe there were any scratches when I bought the console. Honestly, I’d recommend getting a dBrand skin to cover it up and protect it. I’ve got the matte black one and it makes the console look so much sleeker!

Yeah I agree. There's nothing worse than having to remove and especially replace 50 tiny screws and all those tiny, fragile parts, while remembering exactly where everything goes. And 1 screw up and you don't have a console. But hey we managed to scratch the living hell out of it so it uh....looks so bad that it looks better so yay. Ugh.

I haven't watched yet, but something that aggravates me to no end is the lag when in a game, pressing the PS button on the control, and it taking 15 years for the quick menu to appear. It drives me absolutely nuts!

This is a very difficult and complex diassembly. Very easy to mess up. You can mix up a screw or damage a connection. Edit: At 12:56 he removed the heat-plate. DO NOT DO THIS! You will damage the heat transfer pads on memory chips. Gamer Nexus showed that this leads to memory overheating in PS5. It's not worth it!

Why? You don't need to wait for a new game/app to buy a new PC. I think of these as hardware upgrades. Especially since they both play previous generation titles.

@@Daphoid Yes it can but if you have titles from the last gen you have a console to play those games, until there are more notable exclusives I see no need to waste money like that. Especially with the whole scalping debacle that's going on online storefronts.

@@snazzy True, I did see that, but dbrand and Dave2D were referring to the whole console, I was talking about the middle piece, you just showed everyone how to take it apart and modify it. But to each his own, something that is fugly to me is beautiful to someone else and vice versa. The beauty of choice!
