Hey everyone! Have you been able to snatch a PlayStation 5 recently? Or are they just not showing up right now? I hear it will be summer before you can just walk into a store and buy one. Crazy!
Hey Caleb! Love the videos! Yeah, I got my PS5 the beginning of Feb. 2021. LOVING IT so far! You asked about the graphics. WOW! So Assassin's Creed Valhalla is GAWJUSS! As well as the PS5 version of Immortals Fenyx Rising! Even the Resident Evil VIII demo (The Maiden) looks absolutely insane graphically! The only issue I've had so far is......sorry to say: I had to replace one of my 2 PS5 controllers for stick drift. :-( But other than that, I think this system has a bright future that will only get better as more PS exclusive games come out for it!
I got a PS5 on Launch, and paired it with my 65" X950G. So far I have been more than impressed with the game quality in both PS5 native and PS4 back compat. Compared to my base PS4 the PS5 has been a revelation revelation showcasing 60fps games, and even 1080p/120 with Borderlands 3 Performance Mode. I had an unfortunate error with Control Ultimate edition that resulted in my entire save getting corrupted and losing a week of progress. Other than having to do a factory reset in early December due to some data corruption errors playing Days Gone its been quite solid. I am still avoiding rest mode. Playback on 4K blurays is quite an experience but I dearly wish the console supported Dolby Vision.
I have a ps5 and vizio 65" q9 tv. Yes I have to reboot it. I'm about to get a remote outlet to turn it on and off wo going thru admin tool lol. Other than that it looks great. Ghost of Tsushima is awesome. Spiderman is great.
Start of video: All of the automatic settings on the PS5 may not be the best choice. End of video: Leave all of the settings on automatic for the best picture.
Very funny, see the beginning of this video in the morning and push myself to get up to try some new settings to get better experience. End up with changing no things at all.
Going from 30 to 60 does that. Especially since it says at 60 and not at 45. Hell, even playing gta 5 online at locked 30 is better with it not going to 18 fps in some areas.
I am impressed with my PS5....I was lucky to get one from Best Buy....but for those that are having a hard time getting one, relax....your PS4 will be fine until you get one.
It looks ight. Rather have some new games than just uprezd games I played years ago. I’m forced to play sack boy and destruction all stars. Where’s the ps5 games?!
I was avoiding these videos for the longest time due to salt and fury towards the scalpers. Last Thursday morning I was incredibly lucky (after much vigilance) to secure myself a unit. It came Monday morning. Upgraded from a slim model. 4K HDR gaming, the amazing DualSense which expands and improves on the already best-in-class DualShock 4. The benefits that come from the super-fast SSD, the all new, superior dashboard with fully integrated store. That alone would be enough to sell it to me. Improved graphics with Ray Tracing support are just the icing on the cake. It's still early days and things look VERY bright for this console! So far not disappointed in the slightest. Even more value seeing as I wasn't upgrading from a Pro. I mean, I know I'd be still seen as being in the honeymoon period but I swear to god, in my own opinion, the PS5 is well worth the hype.
thankfully I already knew it's best to leave things on automatic and just adjust initial HDR settings correctly. I'm fine with the picture quality from the system. think it handles it well. I'm a simple man listen when you've been on the Wii for 3-4yrs, no recent next gen in awhile, then this is golden.
Making sure you are using the HDMI input with UHD color is really important. I found out only one of my HDMI inputs supported UHD color after owning it for a while, and it was a game-changer to turn it on and start using it
How can you tell if an HDMI input doesn't support it? Is it just a question of whether the HDMI input supports "ultra HD deep color"? All 3 of my HDMI inputs support that.
@@thatdudeACES the numbers will be in the thousands. I was blessed enough to get one through Target nearly 3 weeks ago. Hopefully everyone else will get one too!
One thing I wanted to mention, not every Hdmi port in a tv will support 4k 60. If the PS5 is only detecting 1080 probably on the wrong port. Also on some TV'S you may need to switch that port to enhanced.
FINALLY! I have a ps5 and a LG c9.. been having big problems with Big time FPS loss.. but when i enabled the settings you said on my LG tv it suddenly got perfect.. im talking about the SIMPLINK HDMI.. i had it off.. now on.. and i have full fps now..thank you soooo mutch..
Not only the graphics, but the speed and usage of the system is way better than it was with ps4, I´m really happy that I bought one, also, 4k is one of the best upsteps in my settings.
I'm impressed with my PS5's graphics to be perfectly honest. And i come from a PS4 Pro. But i'm much more impressed with the speed of the system, i mean, the startup process is really a couple of seconds. The loading times of any games are so much faster as well. Fast traveling, again, is blazingly fast, (it's actually incredible that fast traveling actually really means fast traveling!) And god, that PS5 is quiet! I mean, sure, you can hear the disc spin from time to time, but that really means nothing compered to the PS4 (Pro). It's crazy but i appreciate that so much and it's something everyone will appreciate once they got their hands on one. The gamers who already own one will back me up with what i've said i'm sure! I hope that everyone who wants one get one very quickly!
@@porreca30 a shame they didn't do that though for ppl that have been members for years. I haven't and not saying I got one just saying I know quite a few that have been and let's just say they weren't happy not getting an offer to preorder directly from Playstation. guess most of those offers went to streamers and famous ppl.
I wish I found this video when I set my PS5 up, it took me so long to work out that my Tv needed me to switch it to the HDMI 2.1 setting you mentioned, it also needed me to have the PS5 plugged in while I did it otherwise it just reverted each start up lol
You're probably a causal and have a life. Most hardcore gamers who stayed up countless nights and days, refreshing, sifting through websites already have one.
I spent a couple days playing on the Switch and some MMOs so i hadnt really been on my PS5 in a minute. And then the other day i booted up Miles Morales in Fidelity mode and holy crap I thought I was looking at E3 footage. The graphics and the level of detail, with the amount of stuff going on at once, It was breathtaking.
What is confusing in video setting is the TV's own options with their fancy names. I use Sony TVs for my PS gaming, but in the end, not sure do their work/communicate together that well. I would like to see Sony to make their TVs automatically work the best intended way with their consoles. They could actually sell more Tvs that way.
I was a Sony TV user as well, but then I switched to an LG C2 OLED. Couldn't have made a better choice! It pairs excellently with Sony's PS5 and gives me the best gaming options, including VRR, Allm, Low Latency mode, G-SYNC and FreeSync. Best gaming TV I've ever seen.
Thank you for this video and explaining all the video settings. You are right about one point: The HDR On/Off setting. I still hope that too that there will come an additional option for HDR. I actually don't use the HDR mode on my PS5 until this prob is solved.
I keep mine off too. I seem to get better color with it off. When it was on Auto I was getting black flashing. So, I’m wondering how this is effecting my graphics. My tv is set to HDR, but the PS5 HDR is off. So, am I seeing HDR? It’s kind of pissing me off.
Thanks for this! I also agree about the automatic HDR forced at all times; it’s annoying and should be fixed by now. The PS4 handled it perfectly fine so I don’t understand the change.
As.a boomer and coming from the Flintstones pc gaming all the way back to just text only! , this new console PS5 , is outstanding. Super vibrant colors, inky blacks (with LG OLED) and just besutiful non blocking non flickering motion.overall a breathtaking new experience. Thanks for what you do.
While I don't yet own a PS5, I gotta say this is really was a really handy explanation of the settings options. Also good tips on what to look for in TV settings.
I know I’m late to this video but I just picked up my PS5 and have an LG C9 OLED and my god does it look amazing. I thought games like red dead 2 and god of war were unrivaled in their beauty, but popping in a PS5 exclusive like Ratchet and Clank or even Astrobot is just- there are no words. That quote “it’s like your playing a Pixar movie,” well this time it’s not hyperbole, it’s that damn good. Looking to get a C1 this Christmas to spoil myself even more
I've been running on performance mode for every game. I just bought a 55" LG Nano cell that supports 120hz and it's AMAZING (especially because this is my first experience with high frame rates like this). I think that's it's only gonna get better. Thanks for the help with the settings!
For the second time in 5 days I tried to get one in the Playstation store online Waited almost an hour combined both days, never got chosen to check out in line.
The ps5 graphic are essentially an evolution of what's on the ps4. I play mostly with performance mode on so I can almost always have 60fps. If there's a 60fps with RT on I choose that option
When I was buying my TV I did research about the terms shown on the website and read about HGiG but forgot about it until I saw your video, Also found the other information useful. Thank you
Very handy info about that 4K Video Transfer rate. Didnt understand why my tv colors seems more washed out with the 120HZ perfomance mode. But could be because of the 4:2:2 mode instead of 4:4:4 on just 60hz i think?
Great information. Was able to correct a couple of small issues I had when I setup the system. It is very nice how you explain so many things that alot of presenters just fly past. You explain so we can make good choices about our specific setups.
Wait, for the best settings and fixing most of the common problems i need to change all the settings from Automatic to Automatic? WOW! MIND BLOWN!!! You good sir are a tech genius! LMFAO
Addendum. Make sure to set your HDR where the image just disappears. There's a video on it where if you set barely visible you miss out on a 100 peak nits on your display.
This channel is very cool. We always receive great information. I'm part of a large, very cool gaming community and only 3 of us have a PS5. We are close to 100 members and the rest of us do not have this system. 5 months later and still can't buy one. On a side note this channel and Vincent Teoh have my Oleds at peak picture quality. Thank you. :)
Caleb back to giving us the keys 🔑 of success for the PS5 🤜🏾greatness . Hey Caleb.... can we get a PS5 4K Ultra HD movie Blue Ray settings ? I think I’m doing something wrong
@@Caleb_Denison I bought Tenet on Blu-ray 4K Ultra Hd and the sound and color looks off on my LG OLED I switched from PCM to bitstream and that helped the audio a little. But we need a full PS5 settings for watching 4K content
i had a pc a long time, capable playing 4k at max but a ps5 on an 49inch nanocell 120hz tv is a diffrent story, Now I am playing games with way more fun than before
It seems like the fidelity and resolution is dependent on the game but the most impressive thing is how much stuff the developers can fit on screen in real time
If you have wireless disconnection problems and you have 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi with the same name change the name of one of them. Then on the PS5 connect to your 5GHz connection and change WiFi frequency bands option from automatic to 5GHz
The only thing that I, or most people, have trouble with is the HDR adjustment, It says to set it so the logo is almost invisible. There are rumors that you have to set it one click past barely visible.
@@deskmanatee I'm having a Sony Bravia KD85005XD TV, It's an LCD. Shouldn't the sun almost be invisible? It sounds like you say that the sun must be gone, If so, doesn't that make it overbright?
I bit the bullet n gave in to scalpers smh. I literally just got back home about 2 hours ago from picking up my ps5. I paid 700$ for it n it’s worth every penny 🤷🏽♂️
Just picked up a PS5 from bestbuy Friday 7/22/22. We bought an Xbox series X while trying to find a PS5. My dell 32" gaming monitor seems to be able to display sharper on the Xbox but the feel and response of the controller feels quite different coming from a PS4. Playing the PS5 on the same monitor at first seemed worse until I realized the game was a PS4 game. Once I saw the PS5 version, I honestly liked the PS5 better. However, I can see little things here an there that would make one choose Xbox vs PS5. Both are good either way. Can't complain having both. lol
Great info...Txs. Being a Newbie -, at times I wondered if I was doing the right thing in changing as described ? Guess, a bit slower walk through May have helped.
On oled tv always always set black HDR settings on console all the way down and don't look too almost see the image. This will give full black color. Also other settings set not too see the sun because oled is not really bright tv. This is a suggestion from Vincent he mentioned in the video.
Thanks to you I noticed the difference between what I used before and what you recommended, but there was one thing that you didn’t mention and that ( Enable 120 Hz Output ) and I guess this came with the latest update. Again thank you so much
Graphics are awesome and are only going to get heaps better, man I was playing a ps4 game on the5, and I could even see the sweat coming out of their pores.
I know it sounds crazy, but In 2-3 years and going forward after that; games for this console are going to somehow make early games seem “bad” in comparison. I mean look at day 1 ps3 games compared to later games like the last of us on ps3, and similar things with ps4, when developers fully grasp how to develop for the new hardware and leave behind having to “dumb down games” due to them being on ps4 and ps5, I think more options on resolution and frame rate will come along with games exceeding these early ps5 games by more than you’d think.
I’m playing my PS5 on my 65 Inch Samsung Q7FN. I definitely have to get a tv with hdmi 2.1! I have my eyes on the Sony A90J this year but it’s way too expensive
I'm very impressed, I'm seeing visuals, most notably from Spider-man remastered/Miles Morales that I thought wouldn't be possible till the end of the consoles life cycle with the performance rt mode. 1440p@60fps with ray tracing or you can have native 4k@30 with ray tracing or native 4k@60 and it's only going to get better.
Great video as always Caleb, I have the LG 65 OLED C9 from 2019, my tv only has HDMI Black Level Low or High so I have left my TV on Low and and set the PS5 RGB Range to Limited as this way keeps the picture from coming too dark and keeps the shadow detail.
That’s the correct way 👍🏻 setting the ps5 to auto will make it output at “full range” which conflicts with the standard “low” setting on C9. They need to match up and “full” is 0-255 which really only meant for PC.
Sony needs to change the HDR always on feature. Some games don't look right with the hdr always on so I have to manually turn it off. It'd be nice if it only came on when the specific game or app supports HDR.
You know I have a 32 inch 4K Samsung QLED and I feel like something looks wrong... you get that same sensation? Almost as if it’s just not communicating with the tv properly or something
O haven’t tried any ps5 games but only have gotten to play god of war for an hour just got a lg Cx tv along with the ps5 (tax return money) and with default settings it looks amazing
Not overly impressed with the graphics but we are just at the very beginning..what I am impressed with is the Controller..I was impressed with the ray tracing but that's been about it tbh.
