btw you can one click launch ryusak like an app by saving the command as a .command file on newer mac os versions. Simply save; cd ryusak npm start as a .command file in text edit and it will run like a normal app.
Genuinely an amazing tutorial; thank you so much, Andrew! I wanted to play Kirby with my SO, but the stuttering was frustrating. It works perfectly know! Would you know where I can find shaders for It Takes Two?
Here's my experience so far with the method using a MacBook Air M1: 1. The loading can be long, but it is longer only on your first time compiling shaders. The next ones is longer than usual, but not as long as on the first time you compiled the shaders. 2. Some games can broke after using RyuSak, my Mario Kart 8 wouldn't launch after downloading shaders. Deleting the shaders made the problem stop. 3. My Mac wasn't able to compile Xenoblade Chronicles 3 shaders, since it consists in more than 20.000. After 10.000, the system warned that I was out of memory. Had to also delete the shaders. 4. I wanna say that although the method can help you solve some issues, but as our guy said, it doesn't do miracles. Chances are if the game was running bad before, it's not going to run smoother after. But it can help a lot, mainly if the game does not require too much. We know that some games have issues even running on Switch. 5. I noticed that some games got better the more I played, that is the case with Mario Kart. The stutter sopped after some minutes of gameplay. 6. Be patient, I'm sure a lot of patches are coming and Ryujinx is gonna be better than already is. It's a miracle what we are able to do right now on a first release! 7. If you can afford, support people from Ryujinx, they have a Patreon! 8. The games I played: Animal Crossing (crashes after some time and stutters a little and has FPS drops), Cult of the Lamb (running smoothly so far), Fire Emblem (running ok), Mario Kart (some small stuttering at the beginning, very playable the more I play), Mario Rabbids Sparks (played very little, but noticed that it was a little bugged and had to download a newer update for this game), Pokemon Arceus (fairly playable), Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu (playable), Pokemon Scarlet (playable, it got better with shaders), Shin Megami (played only a little, but it looks playable), Mario 3D All Stars (only tried Galaxy, it was bad, laggy af, which surprised me), Mario Odyssey (got better with shaders, but it's not running smoothly), Xenoblade (it struggles a lot, don't know if it can be better). Summing up: only less heavy games like Cult of the Lambs are running really smoothly, but for a standard Macbook and considering this is the first version of Ryujinx, you can consider it is a smashing success! Also note that we are talking about being able to play really expensive games in our computer! This is amazing so far.
I don't know much about these issues! But I would have two questions before installing RyuSak! Well there are two problems! The mac gets too hot, it also has those sutters and I don't know how to save Mario Deluxe! Should I install RyuSak if I only want to play basic games? This would solve the temperature problem and could I memorize what was played? Thanks! I have a MacBook Air M1 too!
Hey Andrew did you know that the latest version of CEMU has fixed the Zelda botw all rendering issue. Now Breath of the wild is playable at 30+ FPS on base Mac M1. BTW good video 😀
To close a terminal that runs a program do the following in that Terminal window: ctrl+z (Suspend the program and put it in the background. The program will now be unresponsive) bg %1 (Background (bg) run the program %1 (the number 1 background-suspended job) disown %1 (Make it so that this terminal window no longer owns the process) You may now close the Terminal window while the application stays running
It really is man . Saved me some monies too because all I really wanted is odyssey and that’s a lot of cash just for one game. And will get switch when it gets cheaper down the line of course
Quick question on Ryusak. Since Ryusak is currently dead, is there another option for Shader Cache downloads so it fixes the stuttering issue on certain games?
@@backwrdsmusic I wouldn’t trust em, it’s definitely better to just get the cache files yourself because it’s completely possible it’ll make your loading times way longer than they need to (ex.: it’s loading extra caches that you don’t even need)
Does it works on Macs that doesn't have the M1 Chip? because I follow your steps, everything was working until I get to the cloning ryusak and npm install. It appears a bunch of errors. Can you help me pleaseee?
Since I updated to Ventura today, I got a lot of vertical lines on almost every game on MacBook Air M1, with Monterey I had no issues. Do you know if there is a fix? Thank you 🙏🏻
I tried this some days ago. The problem is that loading all the shaders takes a lot of time. For pokemon it had to load circa 7500 shaders and it took more then ten minutes. This would mean planning my game session half an hour in advance lol
When using community sourced shaders first launch takes longer. My 7.5k shaders take around a minute to compile now, on the first launch it was like 8 minutes.
Do you know by chance what resolutions are supported in Ryujinx? I have a studio display that I want to play fire emblem on. I downloaded everything last night but didn't have enough time to look around in the settings but the game looked fuzzy by default.
Thanks for your very helpful video, but how you did you get rid of image tearing ? On my M1 Mac, games constantly tearing and v synch doesn’t seem to make any difference at all
It's a known issue on all operating systems, but it's particularly noticeable on MacOS for some reason. There's an open issue on the ryujinx github page.
@@Barrowsx Ok, thanks for your answer, but I really haven't noticed the issue in his video while on my machine it's really very aggressive. Is there at least a way to make it a little less noticeable ?
@@Account_old For me personally on my M1 Max, I noticed slightly less tearing when I maximized the window instead of running it in fullscreen, but IDK if that's just placebo or not. I've kinda just resigned myself to just living with it for now tbh.
With all this awesome, comes a lot of heat. My M1 Air hits 99% cpu (and no fans). Any idea how to keep my Macbook from exploding?. Thank you for all your effort.
I've been trying to play Triangle Strategy but the game keeps crashing after like a min or two. I have a 2017 intel iMac and I already tried the 60fps thing (which works but crashing still hapens) and the RyuSAK mod but the game keeps on crashing, any solutions?
what to do when it say error: Not a valid ref: refs/remotes/origin/master fatal: ambiguous argument 'refs/remotes/origin/master': unknown revision or path not in the working tree. Use '--' to separate paths from revisions, like this: 'git [...] -- [...]'
i do own a hackable switch and i do own the game i want to play on my mac as well but i would rather keep my switch as a handheld to play online with so here is my question: is it possible for ryujinx to execute harmful roms that can install a keylogger or some kind of virus? i am very security focused on my mac and would never install pirated software and dont want to start doing it just for the sake of "saving" my switch. Would you recommend me to dump the files myself or is it considered safe to execute downloaded roms with ryujinx on mac? thanks in advance
First of all thanks so much for all ur work. Really helpful. I got something strange with this shader cache method. After I downloaded for example Shaders for Zelda Links Awakening, I start the game, and it loads the Shaders (downloaded 2022) .. after I start the game the second time, it started with a lower number to compile (around 1000 .. this was my own shaders) it there a way to set the shader cache permanent?
I have a base model Mac mini M1 with a 1080p monitor attached over hdmi. Even with V-Sync on, I experience tearing and general non-smoothness even with games locked at 60fps. Cemu and dolphin don’t have any V-Sync related problems and run games so incredibly smooth. What could possibly be wrong with ryujinx?
Thank you. But now Mario Kart 8 crashes on loading, Luigi's mansion crashes when loading shaders, slow performance on Crash Racing, and my dock keeps disappearing for some reason. When I enter "cd ryusak" in Terminal it says "-bash: cd: ryusak: No such file or directory." In Ryujinx it says Docked 2x- is that an issue? Thanks
@@brian-jv1nw yeah- i did the same. Mario Kart works now. But Luigi’s Mansion is still crashing. Thanks for the feedback. Don't know why Luigi’s Mansion keeps crashing on loading screen with the ghost dog..
There is a new version RyuSAK v.1.6.0. How to install it? Just delete previous folder and follow the tutorial from the beginning? And what will happen with shaders downloaded earlier?
I got last problem fixed, now when compiling shaders my Mac says its run out of memory , I am only updating one game and nothing else running, Ryujinx is using 96gb ?
Wish there was a way to have the shaders to auto load and not take super long at the beginning of the game like Smash which takes forever and have to purge the shaders for it not to crash
That’s how Cemu does it too. All emulators need to get their shader’s eventually otherwise it will stutter a ton every time something new is on screen. It’s something every game can suffer from. A great example of this is with some UE4 games on PC having major stutter thanks to no shader compilation
@@crestofhonor2349 I mean I don’t mind doing it once so the shaders gets cached or something but every time running the same game and shader compiling is not my cup of tea.
Could you help me resolve my issue, everytime i try to launch my game it crashes, no pop ups or anything just kickes me out of ryujinx, ive already installed all the firmware and the keys.
Help, Super Mario odyssey on my Macbook Air M1 crashed idk I forgot the name of the kingdom but its ( at the dragon level where mario fell with cappy )
Thank you for the tutorial, but i got a question why do the shaders compile so slow compared to cemu i tried to startup pokemon violet an it took like 10 Minutes to start up
Not sure why our case is different but turns out my Ryujinx folder is just directly in the home folder, no need to navigate through a hidden .config folder. I just dragged that folder to favorites as the video suggests and followed along after that and it seems to be working.
Does anyone have heating issues with the macbook air m2 when running the game? everything feels smooth but when I turn off low power mode, my macbook gets really hot
Just get a Steamdeck, it runs Switch games with no stutter. Unless the emulator is compiled to run the Async shader compile on a separate core, it will always have stutter. In theory Switch games should run better on M1 chip as they are both ARM systems. However you are currently using an emulator hacked to run on the M1, the codes are optimized for Intel chip.
