Leah, that was way too short. I choose 2 or 3. Three seems to pull that terracotta from the floor, but may be too overwhelming. Sorry, Espresso Beans may suck the light From the room instead of lightening it up. This is great fun, looking forward to your next!❤😙

Completely agree. White ceiling does not preclude light colored walls. While dark might be dramatic to your tastes would be dingy to another's. So I'd lean conservative for resale value if it were my place.

I would probably go with #2. Recently repainted an ugly room myself and a lighter neutral really brightened it up.

Color 2 jumps out at me. I agree that bringing in the dramatic color should be with pieces of furniture, artwork, and dressings for the room! Gonna be fun to watch it all go down!

I immediately chose 3, Leah. I've always liked a warm café au lait color. I wanted to paint my kitchen that color but they sold the house on us! Yes, I am a DIY tenant. Replaced all the nasty old ceiling fans throughout the house, pulled down and cappex off an ugly old chandelier in the living room, put in a screen window in the porch, replaced the super low toilet with an ADA height one and more. I used to work in apartment maintenance.

I always love Leah; what a genuine person she presents to us. I would like to make the comment that somebody in the past seems to have tried to "pick up" the color of the floor, resulting in the weirdo color of the built-in.

I would bring the espresso tone to the built in, give it a rich dark tone. As for paint color I'd go with #2 due to it's light neutral look. I like #4 but it might have too much pink in the undertone. The same goes for #3 which has an orange undertone and personally an orange room makes me uncomfortable. Dark walls in a room make me feel like I've stumbled into an unlit cave.

I'm picking 2 or 4. The floor is so busy and deep I think either will just brighten and calm the room down. Love the idea of the rolling ladder. And love the idea of bringing in the espresso with furniture, curtains and cushions. Leah you're so skilled I just cannot wait to see what you do with the house as it progresses. Good luck with it all. Will be here for the journey.

I like #3-it's the warmest and should contrast with the floor and white nicely. You could then add expresso in furnishing or pillows. Definitely keep bookcase but I would try accenting colors in a different layout.

I commented on Natalees (?) channel earlier this evening when she and Leah were talking about the built ins, we had floor to ceiling wall to wall book cases built in but before the build I painted a very textured wall black! It looked beautiful and people thought it was slate. It made up for the fact that I at one time had painted that same wall Whataburger orange! (My worst design mistake ever!)

Hi Leah! Great to see you bringing in other RU-vidrs! Love the floor and I would def want to keep it as well, despite being so busy! By the look of it, the floor was put in properly and neatly so there's no structural reason to get rid of it either. I would choose between #2 and #4. Can't wait to see what you do with the built-in! Hi Leah! I came over from Natalee's channel. I'm with many of the others my eye went straight to 3, but 2 is also pulling at me. I once based my paint colors on some beautiful Travertine tiles from my kitchen backslash for the whole first floor(open concept). I chose the lightest/most neutral possible for the walls and darker colors for accessories. It really kept the space from feeling small while incorporating all the beautiful tones of the tile and really pulled the whole floor together nicely. I know whatever you choose it's going to look incredible, that room has a ton of character and good for you keeping that flooring, it's really unique and cool!

2 or 3. I'm leaning towards 2 to break the wall from the flooring. I feel 3 would extend the floor color up the walls -- too matchy-matchy. Expresso bean furniture would be fun in that room with with the oranges/terracotta and bright white. However, I would do a contrasting paint color with the terracotta floor. Muted blue-greens (you're in FL after all, play with color!) Sherwin Williams Dew Drop, trade winds, festoon aqua, open air, jet stream are muted blue/greens that would work well with expresso bean and terracotta.

Re: painting the built-ins... I'd definitely paint the bottom all one color. That brown frame around each door is too busy with that floor. But consider what you'll display on the shelves. If you'll display white pottery, you might want a darker background. If you have a collection of leather bound books, you might choose a lighter color that coordinates with the books, but you don't have to go white. It's a pretty sunny room so you don't have to go light for the reflective value. A little bit of color will bring warmth to what ever collection you place there. 💖🌞🌵😷
@avacadoes4853
@avacadoes4853 Год назад
Also, consider if you are adding in any plants, a bright pop of green from a fiddle leaf fig tree can really be beautiful, or a pilea or peperomia. Plants add a lot of depth and just a good vibe to have something fresh and growing in the space, plus can help clean air. Of course you have to find ones that are safe for your kitty! Love you, lady!!! You are awesome! So excited for all you are doing!

My first question is... Are you keeping the house or will you be selling in the next 5 years? If you'll be staying, I'd choose the dark brown because it makes you happy. If you'll be selling, I'd choose a more neutral color... One of the creams, because prospective buyers can imagine their stuff better. When I was house hunting... homes with bold colored walls didn't make it to the top of the list... The home I did buy was more move in ready. The guest room was butter yellow on three walls and the turquoise wall was easy to paint. The laundry room is still turquoise, which is fun against the white machines and cabinets. The turquoise primary bath is now a very pale pink. And the goldenrod kitchen is bold, but in a task room like a kitchen, bold color is stimulating. The rest of the rooms are off white and are relaxing. ... The house with the red room, the dark purple kitchen and grass green bathroom didn't make it to my short list. 💖🌞🌵😷

Leah, I am looking forward to seeing this home transformation. I'd like to comment on the oil paint you mentioned. Please be aware that oil paint yellows with time. I know from experience when I used high gloss white oil paint all over my home trim, windows and doors. You don't notice it, but if you need to touch up, that's when you'll see the difference. The upside is that the brush strokes practically disappear. 😊😊
