In this video, I wanted to show how I fix pulleys on lawn mowers that are noisy. This process can be used on a lot of different applications. I really just wanted to show that you can prolong the life of the bearings, save some money, or just help in a pinch. If the bearing is sloppy or has a lot of play in it, this process won't work, it will just need to be replaced. Thank you for stopping by the channel.

Great tip my friend. These pulleys can be crazy expensive for what they are. Hopefully this video will save a few people some hard earned cash. And oh yeah… CONGRATULATIONS ON REACHING 500 SUBS! 🦅🇺🇸

For sure especially when they still have a bit of life left in them. At least get the yard cut a few times while parts are on order in the very least. Thanks you very much Steve!!!! I can’t believe so many folks are enjoying the content.

You can get a needle attachment for your grease gun. No need to disassemble the seal. I got mine at O'Reillys.

I use a grease needle to get grease into those bearings using your method of removing the seal and cleaning out all the junk.

I’m right there with you. I usually use a grease needle as well, but wanted to show folks an easy way to do it with basic tools. A grease needle gets in there quickly.

Well you did one side of bearing. Now you need to remove the other seal and do the same. I have done this and it works pretty well.

Nice tip. I do that on deck bearings! I use the red and tacky. Less mess spraying it directly in. Later....

I've done it for years.. but.. use your finger to keep sliding the grease around and forcing it into the race until it won't hold anymore grease. I always use a grease gun and leave the bearings in place. you don't have to clean up the bearing cover and then just snap the cover back in and use a small flat screwdriver to make sure it is pushed in place. Glad you showing others what to do at least every few years. The bearings will last forever. NOTHING is ever permanently greased. That is a lie. 🙂 thanks.

Yup, saving bearings that aren’t really worn is a good thing to do! I also pull the seals off spindle bearings to do the same thing. Yes, you can just throw money at these and replace pulleys and spindles, but I really like saving my money and spending a little time cleaning and repacking any bearings I can. Instead of a brush or just using your hands to repack the grease I use my small pistol grip grease gun to deposit the grease exactly where I want it and then smush it in with my finger. This is the same grease gun I use on chainsaw bars, etc.

Just re grease 12 bearings for my lawn tractor fleet because the mower shop wanted $70 a bearing. I'm in the busiest time of the year being an Australian lawn care company and I argued with my mechanic that you can repack sealed bearings while he sooked you should just replace it. Even if it lasts 3 months we won't have machines down and customers sooking.
@freedommowers420
@freedommowers420 6 месяцев назад
Yes a lot of the time you can get away with greasing them sealed or not unless they are just too worn. People just don’t want to take the time. Thank you for stopping by.

The metal outer case you can drill tiny hole and pump grease into it, just turn it as you pump grease Then silicone hole

Well if I hadn’t been filming it took me about 10 mins and a little grease to get it fixed. Regardless of greasing or replacing you still need to remove the pulley and spend the time.
