Thanks from my bottom of heart .I m suffering from pain since 2 months not relieved by anything. But by this foam rolle exercise I get relieved in 1 day
Thank you so much for these exercises, I have Herniated C4,C5 from hockey and have living neck and headaches for 6 years. Almost pain free for the last 2 weeks !
I only have Tone and Tighten, and Bob and Brad in my saved Physio videos. Excellent recommendations for pain and/or proactive exercises by both couples.
Wonderful, Kendra! I'm stoked you got a foam roller and that you're liking it! We're on ours ALL THE TIME. Here are some more you might like: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GmpaoGCmOyI.html Thanks for commenting!
I ordered one of the 36 inch foam rollers, and it arrived yesterday. Today I did my first workout, and can't get over how hard the roller surface is!!!
Congratulations for 100k subscribers i wish again that you reached 1 millions subscribers soon . God bless you. And i am feeling soo happy when you replied .💛💛
Thank you and thank you again. I have been in pain and unable to sleep because of shoulder and neck pain radiating to my fingers. This has help tremendously.
Holy shit man. That was an insane difference. I wasn't feeling the stretch that much in the chest and shoulders but when I laid down after it was an insane difference.
Thank you for your videos I've been watching all the upper back and spine for only two days and it has really been helping get my day started. I wake up in so much pain, I also watched your how to sleep video last night and ordered both roll and incline pillows I can't wait for them to arrive. I have cervical disc degeneration c4-5 and c5-6, Paresthesia, Cervicalgia so this is a big help trying to prolong surgery. This is like having physical therapy at home which is a lot better because I don't have to drive in pain to go and get relief.
AHA! Love this one. It's easy to do with correct form and relaxing/slow which makes it a perfect morning routine :) and seems to be very efficient in terms of time vs benefit, thanks to the foam roller + gravity. Later in the day I add in more of the isolation stretches like doorway stretches when I don't have my foam roller about. Thanks as always :)
Isn't it amazing, DC? I love the immediate feedback it offers. Now to strengthen muscles to hold you there and you're golden! Thanks for watching and commenting on your success!
Wow! I feel amazing after just one session! I have been suffering from neck and upper back pain for 6 years now. Thank for posting this video. You guys are great!
(NEWLY UPDATED VERSION OF THIS VIDEO NOW AVAILABLE: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-042b7nPnNIk.html Hope it helps you!!) How many of you tried it with my wife? What did you think? I LOVE how immediate these results are! Leave me your thoughts in a comment below.
Hello! New to your channel. Could you talk/discuss/show how breathing can be improved with better posture? I'm someone who has trouble breathing comfortably, and would love to hear your insights. Here's an article for reference: www.inc.com/wanda-thibodeaux/want-more-energy-focus-try-this-change-to-way-you-breathe.html Thank you! Your channel is super helpful!
I do floor bench presses. I felt that I wasn't lying flat on the floor enough and too rounded on my upper shoulders . I tried what you showed us and it worked . Now i feel more flat and comfortable when I do floor bench presses . thanks .
What a lifesaver for my spine! I stumbled upon this video today and am a witness to how much more aligned to the floor I feel after these simple foam roller reps. Thank you for your help!!!
Thanks for the exercise class! Much easier to do with someone than alone. Lol. I have been working on my posture for several months and it has been a somewhat painful process. I’m so glad I came across your channel because these exercises and the strength training exercises are doable and they work! Still feeling pretty fatigued at night but wake up every morning feeling better. Now, any suggestions for being able to sit on a stool or on bleachers without hurting?
I hate laying down flat with my knees straight because I feel my lower back arch too far forward when I do. After the exercise, it was more comfortable to do so. I was really baffled and did this exercise without expectation, but it worked for me. Thank you for having this kind of content available online.
I tried it and was very surprised how much comfort it brought to my shoulders and back. I was careful not to overdo the stretch, as my right shoulder did feel tighter than my left. By the end, I was able to get my arms comfortably over my head and touching the floor! Thank you and your wife so much! I'm determined to achieve better posture and appreciate your videos!
At the gym today I asked for a good video to watch with the foam roller, and the guy there recommended YOURS! It was great and I did it at the gym and now tonight doing it at home. Thank you so VERY much! I also think you are the best thing since sliced bread!
I have a very soft mattress and it shapes around me and i get so comfortable and especially when im stressed. I did these stretches on the rounded part of my couch and this fixed my back but my neck is still not feeling right, but i will for sure buy a foam roller now. Do all of these stretches to the best of your ability if it hurts so be it. When i did these i felt my arms and back tingle and it felt like blood just surged in my body with a lot of energy. Best video ever.
Amazing what 6 minutes can do ! I felt a LOT more contact with my mat. A had stem cell therapy 2 years ago for arthritis in my lower back and neck. The last few nights my shoulders were very tight. So here it is New Year's Day, I did 40 minutes in the hot tub and two video. THANKS! feelin' great from a not so great night of "rest".
I can feel an incredible difference just standing up straight! It no longer feels as tiresome having to force my shoulders back. Thank you for sharing these exercises! My only question is, my foam roller is only 18 inches, so either my head or my hips have to hang off the foam roller. It strains my neck/head to have it hanging off, so is it fine if my hips aren’t propped up on the roller? Thanks!
Many thanks for your beneficial video, I adhered to your instructions using the six-minute workout and found instantaneous relief from a trapped nerve somewhere in my back. I am relatively flexible for my age, 73 years. I still teach and train in Jujitsu and suspect I acquired the injury from overtraining. I have tried numerous exercises, all to no avail until now! I would highly recommend your videos to everyone who is suffering from similar conditions to mine. Once again I would like to express my gratitude for your professional advice. Regards, Alan in the UK.
Wow my upper body felt so grounded into the floor after doing these 6 minutes, off to do some strengthening exercises now!Thank you for all your videos, they help sooo much!👍🏼
I totally agree with you about how long it took to develop my poor posture... I can remember several significant accidents which contributed to my aches and pains (going clear back to my teens - I'm now in my sixties) so I know it's going to take some time and perseverance! I actually tuned into this video for the link to the foam roll, which I ordered immediately. I will get back to you on my ah-ha moment, which I am certain will come, after it arrives. And yes, I will try then with your wife. I will say that I've been doing the stretches in many of your vids and after only a couple of weeks my neck, hips and back posture are greatly improved and that spot in the middle of my spine that always goes out (and even my chiropractor has trouble getting back in) actually goes back with these stretches and hardly even pops out. When it does I can easily get it back in now. THANK YOU! Also, Camille sure looks relaxed after these demonstrations. If it were me I think I'd fall asleep (which I've also been doing much more restfully).
I really like your guys's exercises alot! especially this one. Coincidentally we have the same "Gaiam" foam roller. So how long for phase 1 do we go until we do the workouts? because i think i did it backwards with strengthening then stretching like this video.
Early on your emphasis should be stretching. Later make the transition into more aggressive strengthening. The idea is we want to get into the right position first (stretch) to be able to stabilize in that position (strength). Thanks for your comment, Niko!
Thank you both. After doing the exercises, my upper back was flatter on the ground. But I still feel a strain in back of my neck as my head touches the floor. A small pillow helps alleviate this. Also, I can still almost fit my flat hand under the arch in my lower back when lying on the floor. My guess, when you put these things together, is that I have forward head (and shoulder) tilt, along with a little lordosis (lower spine). The two work together: head goes back, lower spine immediately curves inwards. So I've been doing "wall angels" and following your videos to try to correct nearly 60 years of ingrained habits! Thanks again.
Wonderful, David! I love that about these exercises - the relief is almost immediate. Keep in mind - it took a long time to get into this posture; it's definitely not corrected in 6 minutes. But performing these regularly over weeks and months will make a drastic improvement. Thanks so much for your comment and your support!
S. David Hicks if your head was touching the floor you might just need to scoot down a little further so that the roller is supporting your head. Your head shouldn’t be hanging over the end... that would definitely be painful! Also, you mention the lordosis... search his videos on Anterior Pelvic Tilt because from what you described, this is very likely what is happening. Keep at it and I wish you anotner 40 years pain free!
I have been doing these exercises along with using my posture pump for about a week now and it has made a HUGE difference for me. I was having severe headaches, neck pain, vertigo and other problems. My back feels so much better now and it’s only been a week and I am looking forward to having my life back again. Thank you so much for this video!! I don’t think I can express enough how much it helped me.
@@Alejandra-vj5ux I feel great as long as I do these exercises. They really keep my chest muscles from becoming too tight and relieve the neck and shoulder pain.
@@Alejandra-vj5ux yes! I was having vertigo as well due to muscle spasming in my neck so I get how much it sucks. I took this exercise a little bit to an extreme and now have the roller on a weight bench so I can stretch even further. Getting massages helped some too. Hope u get better!
Just ran across this video as I was looking for foam roller stretches…. Holy Smokes….. this was amazing. I like spinal roller massages or even spinal hand massages. This was like I got not in one. And the end result was significantly better. Truly does work.
So the thing I don't like about that, Paul, is it makes the activity a lot more active. For example to lay with the foam roller perpendicular to your spine requires a lot more ab and glute activation to hold yourself in that position. This position would also pin your shoulder blades down to your thorax, making the arm motions much more difficult. In contrast, laying on it along the length of your spine can be completely passive (no muscle activation which is ideal for stretching) and keeps your shoulder blades mobile (necessary for full overhead flexion). I hope that helps answer you question; thanks for asking!
Did follow along Just did this after the one with neck pain. Yes, hit the "aha" moment I feel SO much better Thank you for taking the time to do these videos. I will be sharing with family and friends and now... Besides building things, reading books, watching Netflix during this unfortunate pandemic, I WILL be viewing and doing your videos. Thank you much!
I'm a Kindergarten teacher working remotely since March. My back & especially neck are in almost constant pain and my shoulders are quite rounded (that's not new though). I couldn't believe the difference I felt laying on the floor after the 6 minutes. I will do this everyday in hopes it will relieve my pain & un-round my shoulders. Thank you
That’s amazing! I’m 65 and cannot lay on my back without a pillow. After the 6 minute exercise I could lie down without a pillow and feel no pain!!! Thanks 😅
Omg! I cannot believe how different my back felt when I got off the foam roller and lie on the floor. I’ll be sure to make this exercise a part of my daily routine. Thanks for sharing this exercise with us and the nice demo by your wife❤️💙
Great video!! I have been following you for the past month for upper back and neck pain and have seen dramatic improvement. Sitting behind a computer for 12 hours a day has taken a toll and these stretches have helped a ton. Thank you!!
I was just told that I’m starting to develop kyphosis of my upper back. Looking for exercise to help and I’m gonna be starting with this one thank you very much for a detailed in-depth use of my roller to help with my spinal health!
I use a foam roller everyday!! I love it and recommend it to anyone who ask me about it!! Your video has given me some more things to do with it!! Thanks
I haven't used my roller yet, but I will, mostly to add some variety to my posture exercises. I might add that I just started using the Wall Angel exercise but on the floor. It isn't easy, and it hurts like hell but there's less pain each day. Also, the first time I tried it, because of pain, it took about a minute before I could lower my back to the floor, but each day there is less pain and I can get my back to the floor quicker and quicker. Now I'm going to watch your video again.
Wow, there was a definite difference from start to finish! Am in my mid-70's do Yoga because body gets "stiff" have old snowmobile injury in neck so must move! Thank you!
OMG, I finally got around watching this video (I am having a horrible lower back pain right now) and I just know these exercises are going to do me a whole lot of good. You guys are simply FANTASTIC!!! I am just going to watch now because I don't have foam at hand but first thing tomorrow ima gonna get me one of those and enjoy the healing!! Thank you so much for posting this. Keep up the wonderful work you both do and all the love and support from Barcelona for the loveliest fitness' couple on youtube :))
What a wonderful comment, Just Me! Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you get a foam roller soon and I hope it offers you some good relief from your pain. You'll have to let us know how it goes once you get it. Thanks again!
After open heart surgery my shoulders have become a total mess. I just tried this for the first time and could really feel more contact after the 6 minutes. Thank you.

Great Ramya! I'm glad you found it and I know it will help you out! You'll have to comment on how it feels after you try this series out. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Good stuff, I try it today... I had done the exercise (2) standing with my back on a wall.. (recovery for my shoulder injury... I think this will help me.! Thank you
This is amazing. I will practice this be shavasana. I never get really relaxed because I am so aware of those hot spots. I am including this in my daily practice! Thanks.
