FIXED!! - BRIGGS AND STRATTON (NIKKI) CARB - surging, misfiring, low power, turns off 

Exactly what my mower is doing atm.. Tested the coils today and all good and replaced plugs and checked fuel flow and filter. This is my next thing on the list - Pull the Carby down. Thanks for the upload.

The pins need to be torqued when you reassemble. The spec I found was 65 in/lbs. If you overtighten them, the intake plenum face can warp and you develop an air leak. The symptoms of a warped intake plenum face is motor runs well for 5 to 10 minutes then will seem to lose power, sputter and not run well. This is due to heating of the plenum and warping causing an air leak.

This is the older style Nikki Carb, new style has plug going into coil on the end of the solenoid. If there is a spring on the choke it needs to hold the choke butterfly open. Never get carb and choke cleaner on O rings...they get larger and will no longer seat properly.

Just finished watching the video. But I don"t know if it was fixed or not. There was no before operational run that showed the problem, or no after operational run showing it was done.

Skipped the main jet orings, one of the main problems

Thanks for making this . But it was not clean after the chemical dip on the outside so this means the holes in it are still clogged. a 3 hr soak may be required do not put plastic or rubber in that dip if you do it will disappear. And it needs the be washed off w/water acid don't wipe off. Also don't re-use gasket unless you like redoing this when it runs bad. And the pre filter goes on top of air filter not under it. Just to let you know . This is fyi and not trying slam you for doing this video.

Had this exact problem, spark plug wire shorting intermittent with steel shroud

Very poor. remove and clean main jets and replace O rings on them if needed, also showing that there is a laft and right order for their placement. Just a t partial take off and clean some of it is not good.

What is the gasket for? Making sure too much fuel isn't drawn in?

Didn't remove and clean two small jets--Why???

Just curious why you didn’t change out the main jets o rings while you had apart?

absolutely NOTHING on the two small jets being 2 different sizes.....and which one goes on left and which one goes on right. a lot of times the "o" rings on these 2 small jets are worn out and fall out and no one knows that they are two different sizes and have to go back in (with new "O" rings) left side or right side. numbers stamped into top of the jet / example 111 , smaller one, goes in left side. 114 , larger one goes on right side. no matter what number is stamped on each, smaller / left..... larger / right. ////// look for the "L" and "R" stamped on carb....ALSO...3 different kits for the NIKKI, B&S, v-twin, one is for " WHITE " plastic fuel transfer tube. one is for "BLACK" plastic fuel transfer tube. one for "METAL" fuel transfer tube.

you failed to clean the idle and run jets or to replace the o- rings on them, that's the biggest proublem with these carburetor's bad o-rings around the jets, you took a lot of steps not really needed to straighten out one of these type carburetor's.
