Hello my friend can you please help me out if you can, I followed all steps port forwarded activated DMZ I'm online my inbound has a check mark but outbound has a red X how to fix the outbound?
My hotspot has been relaying for last few days despite troubleshooting with helium guidance. Then followed steps in this video and it stopped relaying first go! Great explanation now even a pleb like myself can fix it Thank you 🙏
Phenomenal explanation. I was able to open up the port. Thank you. I will now wait 8-10 hours as you suggested to see if the relayed problem goes away. The only thing that I would add, that was not necessary for the routers you showed, is that some people need to add an external IP address (their router's public IP address) in addition to the local IP address (the helium hotspot) when setting up the port forwarding.
I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. I had to adjust the steps a little based on my specific router but other that that the video was spot on. Thank you!
Dropping a comment to show some love and appreciation - after following your clear and concise guidelines, I now get the message that my port 44158 is open. Will give Bobcat Miner some hours hopefully the Relayed message will now disappear. Many thanks Tario!!
Ty for this video!! This was the easiest tutorial to follow I have found so far ! I have a relayed bobcat I need to fix through a friends router and was not understanding the process. You made it very easy to follow.
Dude you are the man!!!!!! I did everything you did and I’m set up with open port 44158!! If you’re reading this. This is the way to handle the relay troubles. Thank you Bratha! I am in great debt to you and I’ll let everyone know to check you out Bratha!
I have watched many, many videos on how to fix this, but I was unable to be successful until I followed your video. It may have been the disabling of the UPnP that finally did it for me. Now my port is open and I await the network to recognize it. Thanks again
Going to apply your video on my relayed issue with my Syncrobit Miner Again really appreciate the discord group & your assisstance with this easy step by step video.
@@tariosultan Thank You I did a new ping test on Helium Status cos my bobcat was offline status today. It fixed the not synced offline status and see there the relayed sign is gone- all clear. :)
Thank you! I've been putting off trying to figure this out. I was able to set it up and see that the port is open in Port Checker. Now waiting 8-10 hours to see if that "Relayed" status goes away. Thanks again.
IT BLOODY WORKS! why didnt i just follow the guide before posting my previous comment. outbound and inbound both active. lets see if its the case in a couple hours. fingers crossed.
Great video! I was wondering, though, since this is not mentioned in the setup, is this something that should be done for every hotspot during setup or should we wait to see if 'relayed' pops up to address it? Thanks for all of your very well-done videos!
@@tariosultan OK, so now I'm trying. Unfortnately I just found out that my ISP won't allow residential customers to set static IPs or do port forwarding. I'm going to be looking into changing ISPs or trying to hook a second router to this network (not sure if that will work or not).
I purchased a Netgear Nighthawk cable modem router and have successfully assigned a static IP and opened port 44158 (checked with Portchecker). My miner, however, is still showing a yellow light (I can ping it locally) and the Helium website shows 'relayed' and syncing. I am not unable to run Diagnostics with the app (shows the miner but then errors out when trying to access it; rebooted many times). I apologize for bothering you here but I am unable to get on Discord to ask any questions (my phone is associated with some phantom account). Any suggestions? BTW, I do have a second, brand-new miner but I was planning to use it in another location. If I were to use it here, would I be able to move either one to another location later and reconfigure it a second time for the new location?
Probably one of the best videos regarding this fix, i have tried everything and still no luck, it went off relayed and then after a while back again, could it be the NAT type, as everything else seems correct, and in this case i cannot change it from my settings, should i contact my ISP to open the port for me? thanks again for the amazing video
You’re welcome! Glad it’s helpful. I have one miner that had similar issue like yours. The relayed came back after a week or so. Here are a few points you can consider: 1. Firewall security: I set to NAT only. 2. IPv6 Firewall security level: off 3. DMZ hosting enabled and added bobcat miner in the setting. Give them a try. Best of luck!
Great video - my situation is a bit more complex. I have a base router/modem from the ISP but the signal was weak. So I added two routers in different rooms and then connected the miner. Done port forwarding in the base router/modem from the ISP but the miner still says Hotspot is being relayed. Must I do a port forwarding on each of the two added routers as well and exactly how.
hey I see you posted this 3 months ago and I am in the same situation as you. If you figured this out can you tell me how because the last 3 days I cant get the relay to go away
Hi Tario! Great video, was able to open the port, however, my helium still says relayed. Do you know how long should I wait or if there is anything else I should try? Thanks!
Hi , thanks for the detailed guide! I saw this "For support and firmware updates, we will need ports 22 and 443 open Outbound" How do I do that? Is it the same process as port forwarding?
Thanks for showing this in so much detail and with two different router admin panels. Made it easy to understand and translate to my own router admin panel.
Thank you so much for this great video for dummies like me. Did this a few hours ago and I'm reading it can take 48 hours for the relayed issues to go away. lets hope it worked.
Tario, thank you for all the help you've been! Great videos! I do have a problem I need help with and that is removing one of my miners from my hex. I asserted them both at the same location to allow Bobcat to update the software from 2019 to current. That took over a month! Now, both are online and working but they are impacting each other (transmit scale .43) and I need to remove one of them but have only seen how to re-assert at another location. I don't have another location and just need to "de-assert" one of them! Any suggestions? I would be asking on Discord but my account was mistakenly shutdown and I'm waiting for Discord to re-enable it :-( Thanks so much!
Things to consider: 1. move one of the miner to ideal location. 2. connect it to the new location wifi (or ethernet) 3. go to helium app 4. choose the miner, top right corner you'll see a gear icon (⚙️) 5. Update Hotspot 6. Update Location -> Change Location
I have Telus and did the port forward and DHCP reservation but it was still relayed.. Then I disabled the UPnP and rebooted and presto its no longer relayed! Thanks so much!
Hi Tario, I was able to get the port open during syncing (when I got the relayed message). I left it overnight and the next morning, the port is closed and I did the same setup but port remains closed. Any thoughts why?
Hey Tario, I followed all steps as mentioned in the video. I even disabled the UPnP but I am still getting port is closed when I check at portchecker. Do you have any other suggestion? Could it be the ISP blocking this port? Do I need to request for a static IP from my ISP to solve this issue? Thanks, Jean
@@digsy23 it’s open now if you have a motem and router open ports on the router admin settings and then port forward the router in your modem settings that is what opened up the port for me
Thank you I was sitting waiting for status to change untill I watched ur video I’m gonna go to sleep and check on it in the morning you definitely saved me time I hope it works I’ll get back to ya definitely subscribing
I really appreciate this Video I tried firstly without disabling the UPnP but this didn't work but I went back in and after I disabled it, I havent had any issues so far.
Thanks for video! I have xfinity and I was able to login to my account online added the port forwarding address and it instantly removed the relay status! Thank again!
@@tariosultan actually it did but I still have status of relayed and as well as “Your hotspot has a different listen address than the one listed in the Helium API.” It’s been over 12 hours does it sometimes take over days?
You're the man, great video! After a couple video's on RU-vid I found yours. You do a great job of breaking it down for any router so I can know what I'm changing and not just showing how to change it on a specific device. Just got mine updated, let's hope I'm good to go!!!
I did not have any luck until I setup the DHCP and fixed the IP address for the Bobcat, took about 15 hours to cycle through before it stopped relaying. This was after port forwarding.
Thank you so much had to do a little research on my router but got the info the same. mine no longer says relayed so yay. I saw one near saying relayed but still 1.0 so it's possible to still get paid but I want the most possible.
Coming back to this video to comment, since this video is what helped most for previous problems. My bobcat has been offline for a few days now. Problem is when I run a diagnosis, the IP address provided from bobcat isn’t working when I am trying to add it into my router for port forwarding. What used to be IP : 192 is now 169… Router is saying that IP is invalid
Hello there, I have a Verizon router as well... Do you think you could help me with listing the steps... I don't want to mess it up.... Thanks so much in advance!
@@ArtisticKid23 sorry for the late response. 1. type ip address in browser. if using chrome tried another browser chrome does not work for some reason. note Ip address for your verizon router 2. user admin and password is on the router 3. once log in, advance tab. 4. firewall>general tab . (switch to low security for both ) 5. firewall> port fowarding (orignal port 44158, protocol tcp, fwd to address; your miner ip address, fwd to port 44158, always 6. network setting>universal plug and play, leave box blank. relayed should update shortly hope this helps.
