Thanks this really helped me. If the tire has been flat for a while and has a permanent flat spot just soak it in hot water for 10 to 20 minutes (or just warm it up) then squeeze the sides right next to the flat spot A ratchet strap works great for this!
9 years later video still helping folks. This just happened to me for first time. There's a first time for everything! Didn't know where to start and now have much better idea. Thank you!!!
YOU ROCK Miss Michelle!!! Thank You!! My Husband of over 20 years abandoned me when I lost my fulltime job...so learning how to fix things myself is critical...Just by you sharing this one video took the biggest burden off of me..Many Blessing!!
Thank you so much for making such a great video. It saved me a lot of stress and I bet my kids think I'm a genius for getting that tire back on the rim.
This totally saved me! I hit a hole in my yard and knocked the seal loose and had the same thing going on and now I can fix it without enlisting my Dad. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Kudos Chiquita! You definitely went thru more than I had to to raise the tire off the ground, I did use my car jack as soon as my son finished his much more important bs and returned home with my car. I just knew this could be done simple without having to take the tire off run 18 miles to the nearest tire repair and pay $10 or $15 . Can not thank you enough for being here for me to find you so easy. You saved me so much time and money that I didn't have to spare.. Much gratitude, sister! Muah!!
lol. Women will always find the easy way. So efficient. Our tire just did same thing. My husband has been trying to figure it out for 30 min now. Here I go showing off my new skills. Thanks for sharing!!!!
This video saved me from having to call someone for help. When I found my tire flat, I was very aggravated (i had just bought this used mower). Even though your way was similar to others, it was just simple and straightforward. Worked like a charm the very first time. I didn't have enough lumber sitting around, so I did have to get my car jack out, LOL.
Absolutely Brilliant!!!! I went through a half can of starter spray to "light it up" it would never catch. Your solution worked perfectly. Thank so much!!!
Thank you so much! You are the reason I was trotting around all puffed up after I fixed the tire on the lawn tractor. I was at my wit's end when I came across your video. I am my own superhero, thanks to you. 🦸♀️🚜🙏🤗🥂
Superb. I have a massive snowblower where the tire bead separated from the wheel. I was investigating using lighter fluid and a bunch of different actions that seemed very dangerous to me. I used your simple method and just jacked up the blower on 3 2*4's tied some rope around it and twisted the rope using a wrench, pumped air into it and, voila, I was back in business. Didn't even have to remove the wheels from the snow blower. Saved me a lot of effort and money. Thank you.
+Dinakar Rajkumar Great that you got it fixed. I really never imagined this video would be so helpful to so many people. Thanks for sharing your story and stay warm.
Thanks from a born-and-bred suburban wuss transplanted to rural Ohio. I’ve learned to do a lot of handy things out here in the woods, but when a tire on my tiller came off the rim, I figured it was a job above my pay grade. Found your video and was back in the garden in twenty minutes. Thanks so much!
You just saved my life. Snowed in, no way to get the car out without the snowblower, and the snowblowers tire fell off, but this saved the day. Thank you.
Thank you so much. Your video clearly articulated what the problem was. I never thought I would b able to do this without a Jack or boards to make a lever. Because I understand the concept after this video, I only purchased rope and used the wrench to tighten It. Then I used a bicycle tire pump for air because it was all I had. Amazingly, I am back on the road, now. This video was so amazing that I had to make a comment to let people know that this truly worked. This is my first comment to a video ever in hopes to show others that you should always try repairing something yourself before seeking out others. The video has also emphasized the importance of regularly checking me air n the riding mower tires. All of my tires were low in air And I had kit realized this prior to this video.
It worked! After watching guys in videos using carb cleaner and a lighter I was ready to give up but your video was great and I saved the money and finished mowing!
Thanks for posting! I just pulled my tractor out of my shed after the winter and found the front left tire deflated and detatched. Your vid helped me fix it. For noobies like me it helps to pull the tire outward while inflating so the wall creates a seal against the wheel.
Amazing!!! I didn’t even know what to do when my tire looked flat, I was looking to buy a brand new one 😭 you def saved my day, lawn and wallet. 40 year old woman here thankful for your videos, had it back up and running in less than 5 min. 🙌🏼
Michelle, your video was the first that I came across today and it assisted me, thank you, moreover I found something to add that helped tremendously! So now I'll post what I've posted on some other videos that gave me ideas with my solution that I found that worked today: Thanks for sharing the video. This prompted me to try something to get my lawnmower tire back on the bead. I tied the tire with rope, all the way around the tread, and used a wrench to twist for extra tension. Now, here is where things got interesting...I thought that the rope with the tension from the twisted wrench would do the trick...it didn't, so I got a spray bottle and put some really soapy water in it, then sprayed "both sides" of the tire where it meets the bead and slightly pushed the tire toward the inside of the tire while pumping the air into the tire. IT WORKED! After trying for an hour doing everything else, the soapy water with the tire tie worked! I was happy to say the least. Saved money and did it myself. So try this technique as well guys. Oh, btw, I only have a foot pedal air pump and cranked that sucker with my hand while slightly pushing that tire until it got a seal. If it works, it works. Worth a try. I'll be sharing this on a few other videos I pulled up. Hope this helps.
I LOVE this tip and video! I am a 63 year old lady and had this problem this morning. I thought I was YouTubing a video on how to remove the wheel so I could take it to a tire shop. After watching this, I thought I would try it first. It took me longer to find a rope than to follow the process. I was amazed and so thankful I didn’t have to waste my morning trying to find a tire shop. I mowed my 3 + acres with no problem. Thank you for saving the day!
Thanx lil mama. I used flat rachet bands and twisted a knot using a long spaded screwdriver. Worked perfect. Best vid after serching All day. Took 3-5 min 👍🏾
This was awesome. I took a shot instead of going through all the work of taking it off and replacing it. Worked exactly like you said it would. Thank you!
Just wanted to give you a huge thank-you for this great tip. I tried it with a thin rope, which broke when I tightened it using the wrench. Luckily I found a heavier rope and tried it. At first it didn't work because my mower tire was so out of shape from sitting all winter being flat. I really has to turn the wrench quite a few times so the middle of the tread was really squished inward in order to force the tire to push out to form a seal around the rim so it would take air. Once it started holding a lot of air, I slowly allowed the wrench to loosen the rope. Saved me a bunch of money, and being the independent cuss I like to be, made me feel good that I didn't have to run to some man and bat my eyelashes and feign helplessness. Thanks! We girls gotta stick together. ( :
+Valli Logan That is great! I know what you mean about not wanting to run to a man to fix every problem. I was so happy when I made this work even if I did call my man to see what I had to do. If he had not been busy that day he would have said just wait and I will come fix it. And I got to make this video which is my top video and has helped so many people. Thanks for sharing your story. :)
I was getting frustrated because the tire on my mower was flat as a pancake and wouls not take air. I went RU-vid and your video was the first one to come up. I followed your instructions (except I used a small floor jack) and it worked great. Thanks for making your video.. :)
I have been working on my mower tire for two days and thought up this very idea and got my tire back seated and filled this morning. But it has a side crack leak, so I was youtubing for that and found your vid. Dang, I didn't invent the rim fix after all!!! Great vid, thank you.
Had to move the lawn mower to get it to the air compressor, and the wheel popped off, as you said yours did. I don't have time to do it now, but in the morning I will definitely be trying this!
New widow here and learning how to do my own yard work.. I did a full tune up on my rider but then my tire did this. I was sulking for a day, trying to figure how to come up with cash to fix... you saved me!!!!!
Great and easy to understand video!! The day before yeaterday when I have first heavy snow in here I faced exactly same situatio as like this video and have No idea whether I change my tires or not. Since I purchase snow blower 5 years ago and never inflated. Wrapped around tire with tie is key solutions!! Thanks and I will try this evening.
Thank you Thank you!! Your video is awesome and following your way of doing it (wrench, rope, blocks, lever) worked perfectly for me! Again my sincere thanks for producing this video. Woman power lol I was able to finish the yard!!
Thanks, I hate being the helpless person. I did make 1 phone call to the man because I knew he would know what to do. He was busy on his own project yesterday.
Worked like a charm! Tire was flat, pushed it out of my shed, decided to turn it on and run it to my truck to air it up and in the process popped the bead. Jacked it up, used a strap vs the rope and wrench and it worked! (Air it up, ran for about 2min, loosened the strap and it popped out onto the bead!)
Helpful, thank you. Also a little rubber cement around the rim can help the seal stick if you have a persistent leaker and don't have the tire bead sealer (I have kids not a tire shop).
This worked....Thank you. I used some rope and tire iron from my jack. Also had to use my air compressor. The smaller compressors weren’t putting out enough air. Thanks!
I am trying to remember to make videos like this when things like this happen. Most of the time after it is over I am like I could have made a video. :)
