This 2011 Nissan Frontier has a checkered past. The frame is bent and it has multiple sensor and electrical issues. We try to get the 4x4 working and diagnose some O2 sensor issues.

That rear axle vent is a known issue on the Nissans rear axles, the fix is a hose barb, and running the vent up to a high and dry location..

This is how it was in the auto restoration business too, until we started getting older clients. Usually the winter was our slowest time, but the older fellas wanted their classics worked on over winter so they'd be beautiful and ready to ride all summer long. They helped us out immensely, giving us plenty to do around holiday season.

I learn a LOT from watching Rain Man and Wes when it comes to diagnosis with the ECM. It's so fascinating to me to see the how this all works. I am thinking about purchasing a much better tool with the bi-directional capability and real time charts. I'm retired and don't really need it, but it would be a fun toy to play with.

I love your content. The last cars I worked on were carburetor induction, but one did have a pointless ignition system. I did work on electronic process control equipment (lots of microprocessors, funny wiring diagrams) but the wires were not sitting in the middle of a hot engine valley, toasting the insulation and connectors while providing habitat for small rodents. The amount of patience, and the "I'm gonna fix this thing if it's the last thing I do" determination you display is amazing. I only hope they pay you what you are worth!

I wish you would find us a good pair of ratcheting crimpers for those non-insulated connectors. I started using them for everything after I learned about them from you. But the crimping leaves much to be desired. I found a Klein crimper VDV200-010 with the VDV205-044 anvil that works ok, but not great. Thanks for the educational content!

We have a 2011 Nissan Pathfinder SV 4 x 4 and the Service Engine light has been on for about 100,000 miles. We had 3 Shops deal with it they get it out for a few days and it comes back on. I cleaned the Positive post and checked the 2 fuses which were good and it went out for 2 or 3 days and back that light comes. We have 152,000 plus on it and it still runs as well as it did the day we bought it. 2 of the Shops just said there is a short somewhere.

Replaced the o2 sensors on my 04 ram 1500 5.7. Got the code again, saw too high of baseline voltage. Figured it too be electrical, cleaned all grounds, even checked the pin on the ECU but kept getting the fault code. Read alot about using generic replacements giving trouble, forked out the euro’s for OEM replacements and boom, flawless ever since.

It's good to see you are back Wes & Mrs Wes. Did you end up getting anew computer or was it repairable? Most items that required rectifying on the Nissan are within the bounds of a DIY'er, however the frame issue is the big problem for a DIY'er. That one issue would prevent me from buying it. I am certain I have never seen that many vehicles in your yard before Wes. Is it summer air conditioner repair time, general vehicle servicing or do they have drivability issues that need diagnosing & repairing?

I have a Chevy Venture that has a "Traction Active" Message that only comes on when I'm backing out of my driveway and turning left onto the street. I found the problem: it was a broken wire inside the wheel bearing. I can tug on the wire and the Message comes on and off when I push and pull on it. A temporary fix was to push in the wire as far as it will go into the bearing, and I zip-tied the wire in place. I bought a set of wheel bearings for the van, but It's been 3 years and the light had not come back on. I still have the new wheel bearings on the shelf. I just never had the time to fix it properly. I only have the one vehicle, and if something happens where I need to drive to the parts store, I'm stuck with an in-operable vehicle. I'm too cheap to take it to a mechanic to get ripped off with them telling me I need other things, when I know exactly what's wrong with it and how to fix it.
