The tent is so cool, nice score! My bet with the leak is the distributor seal 👍 Replacing the oil cooler seals since you already have it torn down wouldn’t be a bad idea.

If you put it on Pickles roof, the 30 hp engine won't love the additional air resistance and weight for sure! But I have to admit that it definitely will look good. Your son's better on a tractor than some adults are in actual cars....that's a discussion for another time, tho :) I'll hope that it's a top-down issue,& not in the block - any fluid leak is a tough chase, even in a small engine, because as you already know, every fluid is pressurized. Couple that w/airflow as you drive, and the pulley flinging the oil around, & it becomes harder to find the actual leak. But you know your engine, so once you've got it cleaned up & running on a stand, it should be an easy fix. That top's a nice addition, too.

there are other videos...not sure how many, but was a combination of the O ring on the distributor and the sand seal on the crank pulley. Both are easy fixes! I'd start by changing those first, best of luck on hunting it down...they can be frustrating at times!

I almost stopped the video at "well the good news is it isn't the oil cooler" but figured that was just too mean! ha

I keep trying to get a good look at the bicycle hanging on the front of the red/white bus. Is that a motorized bicycle?
@marcijunebug
@marcijunebug 3 года назад
Tom Kochmann haha! Yep that is a motorized tandem huffy double daisy with a sidecar! I built it when my son was a baby right after I got home for hospital I started it! The sidecar body I constructed from turning canoe upside down and using wax paper to cover it then resin and fiber glasses over that as a shape, side car is hanging behind the bike in the carport...we take it to tweed rides or when we go camping sometimes, always a hit

@@marcijunebug Crazy creative and your son no doubt loves the ride. I have a Berini 14. Its a bicycle assist friction type motor on a bicycle. Its from the 1950s and is sometimes refered to as " The Egg". Yup always gets alot of looks but havent had it anywhere for many years. Great that you have shown us that people like you still exist in this crazy world. Thanks

U have access to UV. Light, speeds up. Process and throwing $$$$$ at leak, setup engine on test stand then do leak detect.

Coming out from the front pulley. Either flinger was left out or front oil seal mod failed.
@marcijunebug
@marcijunebug 4 года назад
don't think so, but I'm not ruling out anything at this point...this engine DID do that when first built so that has been heavily permatexed to the max and a sand seal there as well...but could be...will know in a day or two!

@@marcijunebug Started doing this straight after rebuild? Front flinger/slinger was not installed. Easy mistake to make. Also make sure u do the oil filter mod. While it's apart remove both oil pressure relief valves, make sure they slide freely and have the correct springs. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

@@ebutuoyebutouy flinger/slinger is there...and the guy who did the build with me was my uncle, one of the premier VW engine builders in the area for 50+ years (he JUST retired, this was his last full engine build lol)...not saying he can't make a mistake but it has been fine for 5+ years...something has started to fail recently...and likely a rubber seal or something like that! We will know soon enough! THanks for the tips and commments and for being here! greatly appreciated!

@@marcijunebug Sorry. I thought it was doing it straight after rebuild. First remove the front pulley and see if the deluge is from there. Thanks for sharing. Good luck.

Continental are probably like most manufacturers these days getting there products made in China. Having used conti tyres for almost 50 years without a problem it is sad to see corporate profit taking is costing them biz because of poor quality.
