Your content is helping my OCD see the difference between fixed and restored. It’s quite therapeutic. No sarcasm here. Perfectionism has caused me genuine years of mental health problems. I am trying to teach myself that in some cases, good enough really is good enough. Thank you.

I'm learning that same lesson as I'm getting older. As a young fella I regularly made mountains out of molehills - a faulty spark plug turned into rebuilding the whole engine, that kind of thing, to the endless frustration of the good lady. Nowadays I'm much more accepting that just getting it working again is mostly all that's needed.

Every time i get it back after the new guys got it for a bit well one broke the rear end one blew out the head gasket one broke the starter wire but it was also needed to run the thing so you had to hold the wire on the contact and drive at the same time was a pain in the back to get it to the shop

Sometimes I see you repair this stuff and think it should be in a museum... then at the end you always show whatever you just restored being used again for it's original purpose and it's so much better than just having them sitting around on display.

Hi Marty, like your latest video/ thank you.. Ok I was using a borrowed cement mixer of a different make to yours but the same sort of thing, and thats bearing had gone, and as I was desperate to be getting on with mixing concrete i tore it apart to find most the balls had gone, and i never had a bearing i could make fit, but in my steel shed looking for inspiration looked at an odd piece of scaffold tube/ hmmm i wondered, i tried it for fit in between the inner and outer races of the bearing and found it a reasonable fit/ so cut a piece the width of the bearing, cleaned it all up, a few spots of mig weld, lots of grease, worked a treat/ lol.. Done some heavy mixing with it, pumped grease in on occasion with a grease gun, finished my job, cleaned it gave it back to Bro In Law told him the bodge, still working well as far as I know.. When I had got it originally Bro In Law used it to build his house, gave it no attention, so the reason it was as is after standing unused for 25 years or so, but it works now/ back yard mechanics or using your brain when in need/ Thanks anyway Marty, keep then vids coming. Ian - UK.

Entertaining video as always! Just a caution: That exposed fan belt pinch to the pulley will take your fingers in a trice. A fan belt cover or an enclosure of some kind will make it so that you can operate it without worrying that it might catch your clothes (pull you in) or that one of your kids watching you work might get to close or curious. I find that if you have that moment and think: "You'd have to be an idiot to put your finger right... THERE - OUCH!" Then it needs a cover.

@@BritishEngineer you say this about a video where a grown man hits himself in the balls with a hammer and the head with an axe inside the first 2 minutes. You don't need to be dumb, just distracted or misjudging your environment for a split second and oops! only 8 fingers for the next 40 years.

I finally started on my boat, woohoo, amazing. I build a double H frame, like a rectangle but 4 end lengths hang out with 4 legs. Took me forever dragging all the tools outside, cutting 1x 3m into 2x 1.5m length & 4x 800mm legs. When together it resembles a square 1.5m x 1.5m with 2x 750mm arms at either end on 4x 800mm legs. I'll be able to build my boat on top of it & spin it on top of it to fibreglass the Corflute & plywood. I used a nail gun to fab it together quick but as I suffer from extreme arthritis I have to stop many times just doing something simple., happy xmas to you & the family.

With the motor mounted so low, it looks like it could be liable to cop the odd splash of water, and dustings of cement and aggregate into it's cooling vents. A useful upgrade could be to modify a big paint tin, or a plastic container, to make a protective motor shroud. That may be over-engineering though(?), it does seem to be working fine, the way it has done apparently for many years. Another good rescue, with a good friend! Still good entertainment for me, after 2 years.

Marty, I would bet that the original design of the inside end that bearing was NOT open to cement, sand and water. Find some kind of cap like a trailer bearing cap and save yourself the aggravation of having to fix it all over again. Here in Texas mud-daubers like to build nests inside electric motors. They seem to be attracted to the starting winding governor mechanism requiring many a motor to be dismantled and the hardened mud cleaned out before being able to mix mortar. And then there are mice and rats that for some reason like to build nests inside the blower shroud of gas engines, requiring disassembly and removal of nests before further use. Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
