Yup, I broke the second to the last segment on my Sato rod over the weekend. How did it break? My fly/leader got stuck between a rock. As I approached the rock, my leader came off and fell on to a rock below. I decided to collapse the rod before I walked to the rocks below. I started collapsing each segment into the handle. When I got to the second to the last segment, I squeezed to push it in and it folded over. I couldn't believe it. My assumption was the force between my fingers may have been too much pressure. I just started fishing and had my sight on some fish too. Needless to say I was really upset. Next time I will bring some super glue to weld the remaining segments to be able to continue fishing. I ordered a replacement tip last night ($17.00) but what a disappointment not having a spare tip while I was out there. My only wonder if the segment was a defective batch or if they are just naturally designed really weak. Lesson learned- be careful with yours out there.
