Your Mama is awesome!!! It brings back memories of my Mama making cracklin' cornbread (the food of the Gods!!). She passed away this year and I miss her so very much and I often think of our times together in the kitchen laughing and and having fun while cooking up some good southern food. Thanks for the great video and give your Mama an extra hug and kiss the next time you see her and make sure you tell her how much you love her, often.

What a real joy it was to watch your mamma cooking. My grandpa used to bring us kids cracklins when we were young (I am now 64), and I had NO IDEA they were made from the skin of a pig. Good thing I didn't know! I so enjoyed watching this video- seeing your dear mother cooking and hearing you converse with her. Warmed the cockles of my heart!

I come from Texas and while living in Kentucky I had a chance to try it( my neighbor called it fatty bread). I asked why not just call it crackling bread, well she said it will make you fat just like my cousin here. I like cornbread any way you can get it, I must say it goes very well with pinto beans. Our house only eats the crackling kind every six months being this old we would be so big! These old vids of your moms are very precious, Thank you so much for them! Gail and Les

My Mother and Daddy (Grandmother too) fixed this stuff and you know there are no calories "0" in this don't you?? It's soooo good with lots of butter on it. Moderation is the key. Love this vid and you must have Momma do some more cooking shows.

Lol, bless her heart. I don't know if it's a Alabama thing but my mom never measured anything, she eyeballed it and I'm a stickler for measuring. Now that she's gone, I can't remember how she made hers cause she never measured when making cracklin cornbread.

The only thing I do different now is I line a baking sheet with tin foil and put the cracklins on the baking sheet and bake them in the oven until crispy. I then let them cool and put into a baggie and beat them until they are in bits. This way, you get a bite of cracklin in every bite. Using this method in this video you randomly get a cracklin and I love cracklins. Plus, it adds cracklin flavor throughout the cornbread! Grandma taught me to cook! Raised in Alabama!

GREAT video! Your mom seems like a very nice woman - and a good cook. My family loves cornbread - I'll have to look in the stores here in Idaho and see if they can conjure up some cracklins. Can't just used pork rinds, eh? It looks like cracklins have more substance to them. Ever hear of Country Cornbread? Layered with bacon, corn bread batter, onions, jalapenos, cheese, and cooked in a iron skillet (that's about all I cook with). It's a meal in itself. Thanks for the video!

Born 'n bred in Alabama, raised on family farm I have carried pocketfuls of leftover cracklin'bread to the field. It would sustain you all day, the greasy paper bag kept it best. At night if you had some left over, put buttermilk in a big glass with warm cracklin' bread. ...Its the best friend you could ever have.

Lot of people laugh at me for not measuring everything, but you got to realize that not too many years ago, people didn't have all these cups and spoons and scales as we have today. I remember my mama used a coffee cup when a receipt called for a cup or a real teaspoon if she used anything at all. She looked a lot like your mom and I miss her a lot. Thanks for the video.
