3/27/24 Best!🎉 And a still-relevant video! Even made from scratch, every "Southern cook's" way is soo different...extra ingredients i.e. milk, eggs, sugar, etc. imo is waaay much! Authentic "Hotwater Bread", as my Wilson, NC aunt called it, is just THAT..made w/a special kind of Carolina meal & flour & HOTWATER! No extras! Always perfect!❤Thanks!
Wow! I have literally watched about 20 something videos with people CLAIMING to be making hot water cornbread... They add so many different ingredients and everybody adds sugar now for some reason! which totally messes up the whole thing! But REAL Hot Water Cornbread has always been as simple as you just made it... Thumbs up to you👍 Good job!😉
This is a great video, im from the delta and never learned how to make this. my stomach was growling just watching this. I followed what you did and mine turned out great.
This hot water cornbread looks soooo good. You talking about serving them with some collards and a pot of pinto beans w/ some neck bones......my goodness that is a meal fit for a king! Happy New Year~
My Momma made hot water cornbread and served it with pinto beans, poke salad and raw onion on the side. I made hot water cornbread tonight to go with my purple hull peas. That's some good eatin' right there!
Only recently learned of this from RU-vid. Can't wait to try. God only knows how many times did I not make cornbread either because of no milk/buttermilk or eggs in the house?
They look amazing. I would've really liked you to cut into one so I can get an idea of the texture and density. A great video though. Thanks so much for sharing. Peace and blessings from Ireland 🇮🇪
That's right, have that cold water ready...the cornbread always seemed to be soo hot back in the day when I was a kid making this with my nana. I had that sink water running. Thank You for the post!!!
It's 7:20am and I'm watching this video and your hotwater corn bread looks soooo good. I want some with greens. I mean they look perfect. Grea job. 👊👌.😗🖤
We call it flapjack so a flapjack and a hot water corner is the same thing I'm not talking about pancakes but we call that the meal when we did it a flapjack
I definitely have to try hot water cornbread. I'm 45, from the south, and have never even heard of it. I must have been hiding under a rock. Can't wait to try this recipe. Thanks for the video.
