The best luck I have had with skid steer buckets is bobcat dirt bucket. Never used a 4 in one. Maybe move the pivot points ahead on the endgate so when it opens the front (top) of the endgate lifts way above the height of the sides of the trailer. My end dump works good that way, built for sugar beets and silage, but for trash and brush works great, not too difficult to do verses building a barn door gate. Looking good over there Mike.
Standard equipment for every truck is windex and a roll of paper towels. Good job plugging away. Good thing we have a lot of letters in the alphabet for plans.👍🇺🇸
That end dump is one of the nicer ones because it has a full frame and keep the tires on the ground. I towed a 40 ft that didnt have the full frame and it made my butt pucker a couple times. Its not hard to make that a barn door too. That is a nice setup with a short truck and trailer
Dump Trailer frame is cracked......😁 I with you on the dump, seen plenty of them side ways on the ground especially when a load freezes or sticks in the front.

Mikey... kudos for the gentle touch on the loader. When you pulled up behind the trailer and started lifting that stump, I thought , “He’s gonna get that barn door tailgate that he’s been wanting!” Nice job shooting and editing... definitely up to Vlog Perfect standards!!!
A quick fix for that tailgate is put you about 16 inch hinges on it that'll lift it up real high where you can get all that stuff out of it used to have to do that on my dump trucks
Late once again on this vid, however, if you like old trucks and had the time to rebuild it, find yourself a 60’s model Mack’s to go with dump trailer. Get it road worthy, then start a restore on it. Just a thought, I know it takes time and money, but for an occasional use rig, might be fun. Mack diffs with the hypoid gearing are almost indestructible. They have a good truck.
Good evening DP. I have done much much research on all types of excavator and CTL attachments. I found a company in Minnesota that is second to none. They are a bit pricey but you know the saying and every extra penny is waaay woth it. I have a 92hp. Volvo skidsteer and I bought a what they call a 6-in-1 combination bucket, 80" in width from Cleveland-equipment.com. It's made by Loflin fabrication and it's very well built and besides a seeping cylinder I've had zero issues with the bucket, no racking or bow in the floor of the bucket. It was less than 3k in 2016. I highly recommend it.
A great winter/wet day video would be making a high hinge on the dump trailer. Have you ever experimented with loading the hard stuff toward the cab so the loose stuff slides out first and does not jam up with the hard stuff? I bet you could have dug up that culvert pipe with the floppy bucket kitty. Smooth moves, gentle touch.. Good job. You need a laugh sound track for your rare failures. Applause track is great. But then, maybe you already do have a failure laugh track that we never hear because you are Dirt Perfect.
He can prob make them but several companies make them now. 14 years ago when my brother and I was doing landscaping and dirt work they didn’t sell these kits or the hinges. We more or less copied the design off a landscape trailer we had and cut the rear door along the outer frame and welded in a new frame minus about an 1/8 inch for clearance and put two pieces of 1/4 plate on inside the door for the door to set against and split the door in two It world but I wish we would have made it one piece but we didn’t have access to hinges that big and we had to make the ones we used out of pipe and rods which limited how far the doors could be opened and folded back. Today I would buy the double hinges that some of these truck body sales people are selling they can be actually folded all The way back along the dump trailer out of the way. Ours did did work along better than the spreader gate about clogging up with trash but wasn’t optimal however we was able to sell that single axle truck for more than we paid for it.
Best get the Galion in the shop n go for a Barn Door Conversion !! That Shop is your strength !!!- lets you mend tackle even old tackle !! though i know its a pain in the ass when gear breaks !! - coz it only breaks when yur using it !!!!!!!!!
I’m a landscaper and we do some light grading and I started with a CA Construction Attachments 4-1 bucket built in NC. the bucket was built pretty well but it wasn’t a nice grading bucket I was always fighting it. Impossible to just cut out an 1” or 2” of dirt. I switched to a long bottom CID 4-1 and I love it. I can do both rough grading and final grades with just one bucket
love the show, great job on all of them. I've had good luck with the older trailers leaving the red knob in with the yellow nob out, at least if the truck parking brakes will hold. I have had the same frustration waiting fir the brakes to release. Keep on digging
I used a cat 4 in 1 bucket with a bolt on tooth bar for years and I served me well. It's all I used. After about a year of owning it I sold my smooth bucket...I just had no use for it after the 4 in 1.
Construction Attachments has a Ultra Duty 4 in 1 bucket and they make excellent stuff. I have their CMP duty grapple/bucket combo has been priceless for me, you can flip the grapple clamps up and work as if they aren't even there for dirt work because the bucket has both sides and isn't skeletonized.
50 K That's great. Just imagine if each one bought a hat and tee shirt. You could get a new trailer. HA HA! An idea is to make your tailgate 2 way. Lay it down from the top only when you have BS loads like that. You have the loader to raise it back up and a binder will pull the walls back together. It's a lot of work but it's a cheaper way to go. Congrats again and keep them coming.
I'd imagined that dump trailers only lasted for 15-20 years before the body got so chewed up and abraded away that it was too thin to be useful. if that's a '63 model it's in great shape.
this is actually a historic collector's trailer at this point. I know it sounds weird to someone who uses and considers this a working trailer, but truck collectors and restorers of historic trucks might pay good money for an original trailer like that to add to their historic truck.
The newer style bobcat 4 in 1 with the open/close cylinders above the bucket..keeps the dirt out of the pins and from out behind the cylinder and bucket
I'm surprised you didn't find your usual spoon in that pile of debris. Lol. As far as the 4 in 1 bucket, a friend of mine has one made by USA Attachments. It seems to be heavy built and he loves it.
I know it would be blasphemy but Takeuchi makes one hell of a bucket. We have the original bucket on our tl8 that has over 2000 hours on it. We also bought a Rezloh cutting edge for it (also original with 2000+ hrs).
G'day, a few months ago Chris from Letsdig18, had one of his mates that is bring in Norm Engineering buckets, made right here in Brisbane and he did say that he loved it. cheers
