Fixing Issues on our 3000gt VR4. Power Steering Leak, Dead Batteries, Ignition.

One common problem we seem to have is the batteries are always dead on our 3000gts so that finally gets fixed. We also have a bad power steering problems and found a leak and even some steering column and Ignition issues. But best of all we get to take both VR4s out for a drive for the first time together.

You can just swap out the ignition key barrel instead of having to drill out the mountings. At 23:31 in your video you can just about see the little metal barrel release button in a hole next to the brass/gold coloured screw on the ignition mounting. If I recall correctly, you have to turn the key to ACC and then you can press that metal button in and the barrel with key will come out. There's also a small screw which holds the ignition switch in place if ever the switch itself needs replacing.

I would definitely watch you to a bumper swap video, seems like most of the 3000GT batteries discharge sooner than they should I have that problem with mine , be interesting to do a parasitic battery draw test wondering if there is a component that uses more power than it should I don't know but I'm going to find out someday 😂 catch you on the next video

I'm working on the swap video currently :) I should do an amp check to look for any parasitic draws. I ended up putting battery kill switch in mine but my wife's still have the stock setup

Man, I've been having so many issues with mine lately. I can't wait to figure out WTF is wrong with it and fix it lol. I miss driving this car.

@@sigvision4189 everything lol. I had it in a shop from march until September and they couldn't fix it. eventually saying the rings were bad. Spent $2500 on basically nothing. So I rebuilt the entire engine, now it wont start at all. New rings, new bearings, new gaskets throughout and so on. Got a new Chrome ECU just in case (and for the ability to hook a laptop up to it for more ability to look into things), that didn't help. Replaced all the sensors on it (like every single one, the IAC, the TPS, crank and cam sensors, PTU and more), finally got the chrome to say the speed sensor was faulty (idk if that would cause it to no start though), that and a new MAF are on the way. I have fuel and spark, new rings and more. It just cranks over a bunch and occasionally backfires. Outside a new MAF I'm running out of ideas lol.

I'm not sure about the speed sensor causing an issue but it might. We drove one from Texas to VA with the speed sensor missing. Maybe something is off with timing or a timing sensor. Will the engine fire up?

@@illusiveinunope. I replaced the speed sensor the other day (was waiting for it to arrive) and still not starting. Cranks, sometimes backfires, but no start. Checked the timing again, looks good as far as I can tell, all 5 marks are lined up. No codes from the Chrome either. I have fuel and spark as well (double checked both again). No idea what to do.
