In this video I'm tackling some hidden and very oily engine problems with the $1500 Volvo V70R Follow my car Instagram: / wheelemverb /////////////////// Business inquiries: Willem@fearlessotter.com
@@robinrai4973 I don't know if M539 really really makes me want an E39 BMW or if he makes me really really not want one. Nonetheless I fell in love with the car because of his videos haha!
You might not understand this but your video on how you fixed the awd and transmition for 100$ is one of the best video ever the way it was produced you actually fixing stuff and all the juicy R bits
Oh Man, I owned one of those R's years ago. My favourite story was my wife borrowed it one time for a long trip, she said she was rolling along listening to music and thought she was going about 70 but when she looked down she was going 130! Smooth car, loved driving it, hated owning it. Wish I had your mechanical skills back then. Enjoy that thing, and wait till you drop it into sport mode and hit a big wide sweeper turn! Amazing.
I drove an S60R for 5 flawless years in the best color combo (BSM/Atacama duh) -- maybe my favorite car I've ever owned and I _will_ get back into one someday.* Besides being a car guy, however, I'm also a filmmaker/photographer. I had absolutely no idea you were a successful & seriously talented shooter. On top of that, you make clear, concise, well-edited car content with zero fake drama and a laid-back vibey soundtrack. Impossible for me NOT to subscribe! *I still own a 5-cylinder AWD turbo sedan and I love it, but it's an Audi.
We got one in the overseas program in Sweden in 2004 - in 2020, gave to grandson (over 144,000 miles, he got 2 1/2 years out of it but was doing a lot of highway driving so, sold to a collector in New Mexico - so, that wonderful car, lives on.
You are a very talented mechanic and so YOUNG! Where did you learn everything? Being a Swede I like your devotion to Volvo. I have visited the Torslanda factory in Gothenburg many times. It is amazing.
Absolute top tier automotive content! Love how every video the car gets better and better. Excellent work on the car and the videos, bud. I am so stoked every time I see a new video pop up.
I actually was hoping you were intending to do a manual swap. In my opinion, the manual is always best. I personally think the stock Volvo R wheels are the best looking wheels for this car, but to each is own.
I had the same thing happen with my charge air pipe after working on my S60R. Was doing a pull onto the freeway and I suddenly hear a large whoosh. Clutch in and engine dead, I friction fitted it and limped the car home, after I fixed it, it was fine. Anyways, love to see these cars being saved, it’s a shame on how many end up scrapped. I have a RU-vid S60R thing of my own coming up,
What a car! A few things that Ive replaced, like the bonnet strut, the rear view mirror, but need to take the old central locking sensor out of the old one and fit into the replacement. The solenoid on the fuel filler cap needs replacing and the left hand front indicator has a loose connection, but nothing on the scale of your re-build!@@huntermcmurray9326
Im so invested in this series and im not even interested in cars, I came from your main channel but it’s just fun to see someone so passionate and knowledgeable about something. Also I am from Gothenburg, Sweden so Volvo has a special place in my heart.
I'm loving this channel so much dude. This is all rocket science to me, so your knowledge and work is unbelievable. Shout out to Hector as well always good seeing him pop up in this series and on my IG feed.
Really loving this series. I want one of these cars since working for Volvo in the early 2000’s but in the UK they are crazy expensive now. Great series looking forward to seeing the finished car. 🎉
Very smart kid, eager to learn and not easily bummed out. Great enthusiasm and keep it up please. Like to see how the wagon comes together. Thanks for sharing
I just picked up a running/driving '04 S60R for $800, so i'm really enjoying this series of videos. I'm a long-time Volvo fan, so I knew what i was getting myself in to. One critique: I would never run Bosch spark plugs in any vehicle. For Volvos, OEM or NGK seem to work best
Enjoying this series and following big time, l have an 04 V70R being restored engine being rebuilt new turbski, pcv, timing belt, studs, plugs, engine mount, tensioner/idlers, ceramic pads & new discs all round, service auto, refresh the head, wheel bearing, rear diff then refurb the Pegasus 18's and leather repair to drivers seat looking forward to getting it back on the road.
You have a great shooting/editing style that is really calming to watch. Positive attitude and super informative. Also it’s just nice to watch a car get taken care of
Several thousand miles away, I'm restoring my manual 2008 V70 AWD D5. Currently on the 'Swirl flaps', EGR and engine mounts. Thanks for giving me the confindence to tackle this project myself! Surprisingly easy cars to work on 😁
great cars !! i had an S80 and when i came to change the brake pads it was like brand new no rust nothing !!! these things are fantastic !!! and you can tell
My old man used to have an '03 S60 T5. I loved that thing. He did tell me a few times he wished he'd waited and got an R instead, but the T5 at the time was still very beastly.
Oh man, i felt the relief(i bet you did the same), when it startet up perfectly the third time🎉 I really enjoy watching you learning by doing - it’s a Big inspiration 💪🏻 Greetings from Denmark, and a former 2006 V70 T5 Owner 😊
Love your videos, man!!! 👍🏾👍🏾❤️ I have an 04 V70R. She’s a manual with the “space ball” shifter. Bought for $6K 4 years ago from a private seller. So far I’ve spent around $5K on it that includes regular and preventative maintenance (new tires, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter) and also a few hiccups (turbo, rear axle, rear circuit board, etc.) I’m currently at 250K miles.
This series is reminding me of my car quite a bit, my Pcv hose was also destroyed like yours, spark plugs nasty but not original, everything you’ve been doing I’ve done or need to do to mine soon. Bought my s60R in September and have loved owning it even with its hiccups
ahh yes cylinder number 2 full of oil - i found the same in my V70 when i was trying to diagnose/fix a missfire.. i still need to replace my PCV but im waiting for winter to pass before i stick myself out under the hood. Love this series!
Love the vid bro, me and my friend got a V70 XC and we struggled so much with changing the pcv but after we changed it the car felt so much smoother and responsive
Hello! I like what you do, good luck and new cool videos. I'm from Moldova and I have a 2006 S60 T5. I like how you enthusiastically disassemble and repair cars.
Loving the channel please keep doing you thing. Had a Volvo S70 T5 a few years ago. It was the last year before Volvo sold to Ford (1998) and I loved it. Kept it for a year and passed it along to a young kid that is a Volvo nut. He loved it. They are an underrated car by most people. Might get another down the road but I would like an old rear wheel Amazon or the like. Cheers!
big volvo guy here. many current white blocks- the holes you had the most oil in are the holes that get filled by the actual pcv tube when it fails. also the oil cap will fill them if it has a bad seal.
Nice job you did. 👍 when it comes to wheels everyone has it’s own taste. :) And I love you showing also your “fails”. Only ine who dont do anything are not making mistakes. This is how we learn. On OEM parts. Sometimes they are actually on the same price level or cheaper then alternatives. Like spark plugs, timing belt. Specifically plastic parts. Brakers usualy ask a lot more then original new one is worth.
Great work on bringing this beauty back to life...I'd personally have the original R wheels refurbed..I like the simpler 5 spoke style. Plus OCD has kicked in.. spotting one of your license plate lights has blown 😳
You made awesome work and your music taste is 10/10. I enjoy your videos and that you give some love to R's. They need them and will pay you with smile on your face. Cheers!
I love to watch those viedeos because my grandpa owns a manual grey/beige v70R wich is in absolutely great condition and he always used it as his winter/traveling car.
I have a t5 c30 and this exact thing happened to me. I bought it with about 185k for 4 grand and about 2 months later, i had fouled plugs in wells 2 and 4 i believe. Replaced those with Bosch Iridiums. 4 months later i had fouled plugs again. Discovered that my pcv system was bad when I would take the oil cap off and had the glove I wrapped around was expanding so I knew instantly what was going on. Awesome video very concise. I love those V70Rs. Would love one or an 850R someday.
Dude, I’ve bought a 1500 Volvo, seriously same price, was a p2 xc70 put a bunch of money and work into it. Similar issues to yours, shot Pcv leaking oil. Did water pump as well as timing. Planned a lot with that car, unfortunately got hit by a motorcycle driving in the wrong lane on a curvy road (he survived with minor injuries) but so sad that my wagon was totaled out before. 😞 love the Volvo community. Bought an e46 bmw which has treated me well. Sorrry for the long comment, but big fan of you and your videos!! I considered going into photography like you but started welding instead, dude honestly I’m drunk typing this but really relate to you. Love these videos. Thankyou for these vids, maybe I’ll get back into photography since I’m only 20! Fr big fan dude! Goat
man i just did the pcv on my xc70 and just wow it was way more difficult than i expected. but i eventually got it done and it passed the glove test! very exciting stuff
