You need to find whoever made that (hopefully they'll comment on this video) and pay them to make four more while they still have the dimensions and process in their memory. You need backups for such an important tool and such an unobtainable part. Glad to see the roller's back to full working condition!

the last plate lasted for 75 years. Hopefully this one lasts just as long.

@@simcoespringmetal nowadays isn't as good as it was back then. So maybe 35 years?

Great video. I once had a potential customer asking for replacement spring shackle bolts for a trailer that they said were 11/16" dia. I wonder if perhaps they needed one of those bushings you used, 9/16"ID x 11/16"OD. I could not find any useable bolts in the 11/16" dia. and never thought about a bushing like that to step the bolt size down.

yup, we sell either the NB1 or 31-ECB bushings on our website www.simcoespring.com 32-b916 is the 9/16 bolt to go with it 32-n916 is the nut shackles are 32-SP20

@@simcoespring Good to know. Don't do much work with trailer springs so that requested bolt size threw us for a loop.

We all really miss the old days when you actually made videos of working on Springs and such. You know, like the words in your title. I'm gonna give it a bit more time before i unsubscribe. Hope to see more videos

@@simcoespring good choice. Suggestion: if the serrations chip off or wear faster consider a higher temperature draw. The higher temperature draw will reduce hardness, but the toughness increases. Hardness defeats wear, but you have brittleness. Toughness defeats brittleness, but you have wear. The trick is to find what gives desireable and predictable results. Good luck and I enjoy your videos.
