I ventilated an i4 by heating up the tip of a flat tip screw driver and just pushing it through all over in a patter similar to dye. Made a world of difference! And the holes were clean.

I find a large hole punch for leather works the best. Gives you a lot more control over where the holes going to go and how it's going to end up. Also less the chance of you screw up the lenses

The best way I ever saw to add ventilation was using a soldering iron to punch through the plastic. Made for even & smooth holes. Thankfully, I wore flexes exclusively starting in 2000 because they breathed great and they didn't make my enormous noggin look even bigger. Of course, you had to rock the foam side/earpieces.

i rigged up a tiny fan system with a 9v , it was awesome while it lasted. Maybe i'll make a kit and sell it

@@Hunter-dl5jb the first iteration was just a fan directly front of my mouth. That was great until the wiring got wet and corroded. The next iteration was too eliminate lens fogging and I mounted it under the lens right where your upper cheeks are. That worked great. But then that mask fell apart. It was an old gameface skul mask

I added ventilation holes to my already extremely well ventilated E-Flex. Also cut the chin strap and visor off. I prioritize comfort above all else when playing a weekend long scenario game. If I could get away just having goggles I would. I have never found the temporary sting of a paintball hit to outweigh the long term discomfort and overheating of wearing padding, armored gloves, bulky mask, beanies, etc.

Honestly, I like the i4 as far as breathability. Just ordered an i5 since my i4 was so old it was pre-chin strap and places are starting to require them :(

I like my i5, but hate the flimsyness of the ear flap. I have had to replace my ear flap 3 times, the screw hole in the flap keeps tearing.

I don't have that problem with mine fortunately, but breathability is. Breathing in is fine, but breathing out is terrible. I've definitely been thinking about doing something like this for a while bc I love everything else about it.

I live in Sweden so the weather varies quite alot.. I just want to find a good paintball mask that helps with fogging the most. What's your recommendations? I'm looking at bunkerkings cmd right now. Price doesn't matter but I'm not paying over 400$ for a mask 😅

I bought a Infamous red Push because it looked awesome to me, and I wanted a “modern” mask after using Flex’s forever. Found the nose adjuster useless and the way it fits my face it won’t seal between my nose and cheek bones. 😭 No matter how I adjust it or position it on my face. I’ve been contemplating ripping the foam out and replacing it with Flex foam to see if that helps.

If you try maybe look for Empire branded foam it’s from the Eflex. It’s a bit thicker it might work better.

Why didn't you go for the carbon if airflow was a priority? I did the same thing with my i5 a couple years ago but drilled way more holes. It helped a moderate amount, but still isn't great ventilation.

I love my Dye i5. I have it in the discontinued Lava color which was kind of a brownish-gray/coyote brown with orange accents; I added the HD lens. Beautifully colored mask, in my opinion, but I'm guessing it was discontinued because it wasn't popular enough? I think it's enough to make it not look camo'd out, but still blends well when you play in the woods. Regardless of what it looks like, it's super comfy and I find it to be sufficiently ventilated for me, but I'd say my head is on the smaller side.

I drilled holes like this in my old dye for mask because it kept fogging even though I put in new foam and a new lens lol worked great and I was even able to sell it on eBay as “dye i4 mask with custom airflow holes” and someone paid $90 for it🤦‍♂️this mask was 5 years old at the time of the resell😂😭😭😭😂

Probably not, i5 is one of the worst with glasses. heads and glasses are all shaped so different though, it’s really hard to say.
