2023 and this still works. The download is a little different than what’s shown, but your process is still achievable and works wonderfully. You just saved me with a contracted review & now I know my phone will cause these problems when recording and can be more careful in the future. Thank you ❤
This was the answer I was searching for! Solved my out of sync audio problem immediately. I had captured my video from a DVD with handbrake but didn't understand that "contant" frame rate needed to be checked.
QUESTION: This did not solve my problem. In Handbrake, when a video is ripped using "Constant" and selected "Same as Source" for the framerate. It says there is a "delay relative to video" that shows -5ms. This is seen as a "Property" of information in MPC-BE and MPC-HC, but I don't see it in VLC. There is no "noticeable" difference in the "video" not matching up with the "audio." I'm just wondering "why" it does this? It does this when an MKV file is compressed into an MKV file; however, that information of "delay relative to audio" does not appear when the file is saved and compressed as an mp4 file.
Hi Steve, great video buddy! Got a big box of mini-VHS camcorder tapes that need digitising. Everytime they are out of sync when I encode, shall I do what you've done in the video then edit in a program and adjust the audio then resave? Thanks
It likely has to do with the codec your software/hardware used to digitize the video. Have you seen my tutorial on the Diamond VC500? It will create a digital file that won't go out of sync. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SouH9JzS2mQ.html
@@sgrisetti Thanks for quick reply! PotPlayer wasn't recognising the VHS player so am resigned to ripping everything in DVD-PAL. Comes out at 2GB=30mins. I don't think my cheap USB VHS encoder & Win 10 likes any tinkering.. :)
Thank you so much, I wasn't able to get my audio and video to sync and you showed me in one step. I love the fact that you are an outstanding instructor. You help me in he Adobe function I need at that time. Many Blessing Steve Grisetti
Steve, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. I exported an Adobe Elements video to MP4, then ran it through Handbrake and imported it back into Elements, but I still see the orange/yellow line on top in Elements. I tried twice unsuccessfully and am resorting to manually adjusting the audio and video tracks as best I can to get them in sync, possibly doing individual clips where necessary. I have Premiere Elements 2021. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly.
You should not need to involve Handbrake in this process. Video you output from Premiere Elements should feed right back into another Premiere Elements project. If you'd like to troubleshoot this issue, please post your question at my free Community Forum at Muvipix.com and we'll help you out.
Wow. Super-rare concert video arrived in flv ( Curses!) and handbrake seems to be chugging along! Thanks for this! And it worked perfectly - I now have a fave on my phone forever - and my desktop. Tried using VLC converter about 10 different ways and each time came up out of sync. This is a Great tip!
Thank you so much!! If anyone had audio out of sync for actors access this works! And to avoid audio lags in the future (if you have an iPhone) you can’t film a video at 4k 60fps or 1080p at 240fps OR HDR and you have to have your format at most compatible not high efficiency.
You saved me so much time with this video thank you!!! Other videos dragged on or were unclear so this saved the headache I already got from getting even worse😂
So Steve, I have an issue with Premiere elements where the imported MP4 file is already set to a constant 30fps (no color shown in timeline), yet the video picture constantly lags or freezes and the audio plays just fine... I have gone through countless help topics and optimized all settings per "expert" input. I don't believe it is a CPU performance issue because the other files I have that are 60fps, the program actually renders (I see a green line in the timeline) and then the video plays as it should. Any advice from your side? sorry, I know it's hard to diagnose with so many variables.
You're right. There are too many variables to give you a pat answer. But if you'll post your question to our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com we'll be glad to help you troubleshoot this issue. Please be sure to include the name of your processor, your RAM load and the name of the device you shot your video with.
I couldn't get this to work. The video in question is a recording of a video game and is about 53 minutes long. By the end, the audio drift is about 3 seconds. I've tried different FPS settings on Handbrake with no effect.
It's often difficult to fix screen recorder video due to the codecs used by the recorder software. A lot of screen recorded video (Elgato, for instance) just doesn't edit well.
I know this is an older post so you may not get it and be able to help me. Is there another fix to this issue? I downloaded Handbrake and followed these instructions to convert the file. Then, when I loaded it into Premiere Elements there was no orange bar so I was excited and hopeful that it was the fix I needed. Once I started editing though, the sync issue was actually WORSE, not better. Did I do something wrong with Handbrake? I'm working in PSE 2018 and I'm shooting with a Galaxy S9. The problem seems to be more pronounced with the selfie cam compared to the main camera lens.
It's impossible to say without having your original file to examine. If you want to explore this further, please post to my free Community Forum at Muvipix.com.
@@sgrisetti Thank you so much for responding. I think I figured out the problem. I'm completely self taught (largely from your videos). Here's what I think the problem is/was, but I'm not really sure - I just know that when I made this change the problem went away. The original video clip was a .mp4 and it was shot 1080p 29.97 fps. My project settings were 1080p 30 fps. I'm not really sure if this could make such a difference, but matching my project settings to my videos settings seems to have solved it. Probably a rookie mistake , but I'm just glad to have it solved.
Thanks for the video! I tried but it did not work. Recorded it using Streamyard - from more than 13 I have recorded so far just one has had this issue...I followed your instructions and when I checked it out on iMovie it kept having the same issue. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Didn't work for me. Is there a way of doing it manually? Like, if the audio is delayed by 300 milliseconds throughout the whole video is there a way for me to tell Handbrake to set the audio back by 300 ms?
@@sgrisetti If I play the video in VLC and set the audio delay to -300 ms the audio is synced up fine for the whole duration of the video. But it's all good. I gave up trying to fix it and just found another torrent that didn't have any issues. Thanks.
Hopefully this works, thank you for the help! I was about to smash my desk after trying every single solution online until I came across Handbrake and this video.
Not working for me.. I used a video grabber for my old VHS tapes. The audio is not synced in some parts, while other parts is. I tried a lot to get it to sync. I am about to give up !
You should not have to convert the Video Grabber video if you're using the settings I recommend in my tutorial. You should be able to edit the videos as is, depending on which video editor you're using. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lmlLR9-ejM8.html
@@sgrisetti Thanks. I use Vooni Videograbber 3.0. It was quite expensive as well. It does the job without needing a computer. Saves straight to SD card. I find it quite handy. It's just the audio sync that bugs me.
you know what, just to share what worked for me? Instead of Handbrake, I just time-stretched my originalaudio (105%) and it synced up great no pops or clips. Just play with time stretch till it fits well enough
nope still out of sync and when played on Winamp instead of windows media player it accelerates to 2x speed with high pitch sound. it's an mp4 video recorded from oculus quest 2 screen
There clearly is something going on that isn't typical, John. Sorry that I can't offer a solution here. But if both your original and the converted file are out of sync in a media player, then the issue isn't simply a codec. Have you tried playing the file in the much more versatile VLC Media Player?
i have a problem with this in a way where when i import media that has video i can t use the video it just shows audio available. I can however add them at the beginning of the project but once i add video it causes other video to become audio only, im using premier pro.
If you've converted the video per the tutorial on Handbrake and you're still having this problem, I'm not sure what to suggest. Especially without knowing the complete specs of your video and its source. If you'd like to post this question on our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com, we'll be glad to help you troubleshoot it.
@@sgrisetti well I kinda worked around the issue as if I try to add it selected with other video clips it'll drag to to the timeliness, I think I have that issue worked out
Did not work. In premiere pro my video gets rid of the first 2 seconds and the total goes from 6 seconds to 4 seconds. I did this and it still won't fix itself. :/
I don't know why this would be. It could be related to your original video, but without knowing more about the device you recorded it with or the specs of your video, it's hard to say. If you'd like to explore this further, please post your question to our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com and we'll see if we can help you troubleshoot it.
Never edit video from a mobile phone while slightly drunk. i kid you not, this issue has been driving me MENTAL and my phone nearly went through the PC monitor.
Can't say without more information about the file itself. If you'd like to post this question at our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com, we'll be glad to show you how to dissect and troubleshoot your file.
I've never heard of this -- and I don't know enough about your computer or its operating system to know what to recommend. If you've downloaded the right version for your OS, it will run. handbrake.fr/downloads.php
Well: I film music videos all the time. I do not have synchronization at all. I tried everything to get the handbrake to work. It will not run on my pc, it says Ap won't run on my pc. I have a dell laptop, Inspiron Model PP41L. I use windows 10 OS. I tried filming with different browsers to solve the problem. That did not work. Then, I tried to free up some of the cpu memory while filming. That did not work. I am ready to just see if there is a recording studio I can burrow somewhere to do my music rather than do it at home. I am willing to pay. I have tried everything.
Hello great video I did what you did and the video syncing is way better my video was like you know how you watch Chinese kung Fu movies and when they talk and the talking stops but there mouth still movess?yeah my movie was like that but in English but after a follow your steps big big improvement but when I really look at them talking it's 1% off still or least then that I've try my movies on my ps3 it goes perfect when watching them talk but on my laptop it's 99.9 percent perfect can you help me too get that 1 percent so it could be 100 perfect thank you sorry about the long message I tend too do that when txting 🤔
As I say in the video, you're welcome to post questions like this to our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com and we'll do what we can to help you, but I can't troubleshoot in RU-vid comments. Your problem is most likely related to the frame rate, format or codec of your original footage.
This probably related to the software or hardware that originally created the video and what compression systems it used. If you'd like to look into this more deeply, please post your question to our free Community Forum at Muvipix.com and we'll see if we can figure out what's up.
