So much enjoy watching your journey with the Chateau. You have an amazing personality and everyone else is also a pleasure to watch. We watch all of your episodes and brings joy in humanity. Thank you and many wishes for your success
What constantly amazes me regarding Amaury’s carpenterial professionalism is the way he purpose builds structures for the job at hand. The doors he constructed so that the dust wouldn’t invade the rest of the house. The structures we saw today holding up the … labelled …
I missed being born in Australia by just a few shillings. Apparently, if a man owed ? money he was put into debtors prison, and my gr grandfather missed it by 'this much' lol Oh well He eventually came to Canada to homestead on free land and made a great success of the little he had. Very proud of his skills and the family he raised. Here's to you Percy !! and to all of you, love this channel - knowing it is a real living breathing family business
How lovely to hear music in La Lande again, it reminds of the early days with dress-up days, dancing, musicals, music workshops. Buying things is nice but not the same
Hope you get your French Document ! Thought it was amusing how you said, "Basically my family made a sport of marrying foreigners." 😂And your continuing by being with Philip! So, basically, you have a lineage like an American! Those of us who have been here several generations really don't know what nationality we are. When Philip said that the Chateau you were visiting looked like "the backside of Lalande" I lost it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I totally see what he means, but still can't stop laughing! Thank you Philip I needed the laugh! The downstairs bathroom looks great! Hadn't realize how much it needed the touch up.
This was a year ago and just yesterday Stephanie and Phillip had their wedding announcement party at Stephanie's mom's beach bungalow in South Africa... in this vlog she was so kind and gracious and lovingly toasted & welcomed Phillip into the family as her new 'son'... it was very sweet and emotional. ❣💗💞💖
My favorite preserves are Bonne Maman! I treat myself as the brand is frighteningly expensive. The pancakes look delightful. Glad to see Dan and the boys again.
Love Percy's humour... and don't worry, I'm Aussie descended from many convicts - English, Irish and the Grahams of Scotland... Family history is so interesting, I'm surprised to hear Stephanie didn't know much about her French great grandparents, learn as much as you can because a day will come when you want to know everything! ❤🦘
Thank you so much, for all the joy! 💛💝💛 For how many years now, I love being able to join in on the parts of your life that you are prepared to share with the world. ❤️
I recently got my 'carte de sejour' and am now preparing citizenship finally. The British Consulate told me that it didn't make any difference if I took on French nationality I would still be 'British' !
@@ladyangelaIII No I don't have to be of French blood to get citizenship. If needed, there is an old alliance between the French and the Scots ( I am Scottish ) so I could try that but normally it should be straightforward especially as I have been in France for 44 years now.
@@ladyangelaIII Not necessarily,! Between the "loi du sang" and "loi du sol", there are in French law several conditions and modalities for the acquisition of French citzenship. But if you are applying on the basis of your French ancestry (loi du sang), oddly enough this can make the process a bit more difficult until you get the requested written proof, depending on whether the ancestor is distant or not. There are sufficient websites from the French government in several languages that explain it all. I married a foreigner and when my children were born, to avoid such difficulties, with the French administration, I immediately had them registered at the French Embassy/Consulate. They have dual citizenship, so do my grandchildren. I am an history freak, never very fond of Bonaparte, but now saying that Bonapartes are not welcome in France is an absurd cliché.
@@bethm3624 Hi Beth! No we’re in France too, it’s just that after Brexit it was very important to me to remain European to make it easier to be in France. My Austrian passport now allows me to do that in a way that my British passport no longer does.
I laughed at Percy’s family history because my Mother was always afraid to research her mother’s lineage because of what she might find!! Brought me a wonderful memory!
I'm so glad your mom is back in the chateau. She reminds me so much of my mother 😅💜 From the moment she glared at you on that new mower and drove it as close to that ditch as she possibly could, I've loved her. Thank you all for bringing so much joy to our lives! Percy has got a wicked sense of humor too, love him too!!
Dearest Stephanie, your vlogs make me so happy, God bless you and all of your dear ones there…..good luck with all of your endeavors. You are so brave and positive and resilient. Mmm I adore French bread, when I was stationed there I practically existed on French bread and wine.❤❤❤😅
The whole scene of having Lunch at the Hanger was sooooo hilarious & adorable & loving & happy ...... & had me in stitches even after I re-watched about 5 times ❣🤣😝😛🤣😝😛🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fabulous work all. Can't wait to see the grand salon completed. Dan's boys are adorable and I am so glad they got to see Wmuary on TV. LOL. You do have many peacocks now. Congratulations on becoming French Stephanie. Have a great week all and see you in the next vlog.
Stephanie, I bet Henri hates the heating because in his time there wasn’t anything but the fireplaces. He doesn’t think the other systems are worthy of a chateau! ❤️🙏🏼🇺🇸
@@rayn8740 The renovation of the heating system starts this fall with the wood burners in the fireplaces. In the Spring the Geothermal system and radiators will be renovated. Yeah.
In the US there are wonderful electric heaters that look like wood burning stoves..I own an cream colored one...it is beautiful....they are made by Duraflame they are top heating using infrared (tubes) instead of coils...no heat on the surface or sides...They cost between $270.00 and $290.00 each...and you would love them..You need them everywhere. They are called "Duraflame 3D infrared cream electric fireplace stove with remote control" I keep warm all winter with mine and it looks very attractive with its 3D flame effect...I'm telling you about it because I want you warm and cozy without problems this winter and you can plug them in wherever you have an outlet.
Your idea is great. They have some electrical heaters at Lalande also. One by Natti's desk and one by Stephanie's as they sit quietly there for hours. Everyone else loves the kitchen and laundry as they are warm rooms.
A great vlog. Percy sharing his family criminal history had me in stitches. It's so nice that guests feel 'part of the family ' after a few days. I too would buy the Château, it looked stunning
I love your blue, woodland themed bathroom. It is the most beautiful bathroom I have ever seen. The room Amoury is working on will be a dream. I am so thrilled waiting for it to be finished.
Hope you managed to get the plumbing fixed. You need to get Henri on your side. Go to the room you feel him most or associate with him, light a candle and gently ask for his help to look after the chateau. Tell him he is important and is a part of your family now. Try giving him a job to do, like making sure the roof does not leak, or the chapel is protected. Recognise his love for the chateau and that everyone is working to keep the chateau a home and haven that many people love. Hope it works. Congratulations on getting your citizenship and for all the lovely work being done at Lalande.
What happened to my post re Isabelle’s comment “if you keep buying plates for the rest of your life it would be like living in a mausoleum”! Had a good laugh. She gets to the heart of every situation and brings order and balance. Lucky to have her in your life.
As always, a pleasure to spend time with you and all the LaLanders. I will definitely take a look at your tour of the chateau that is for sale. Thanks Stephanie🙏🏻❤️
I just love your vlogs, so filled with variety and funny! The realness is the best! Never knew Percy was so funny! Philippe and his plates, your mommy’s response was so good! A museum!!!
Such a fun and joyful vlog. So excited Amaury is starting on the grande salon. Cracked up at Philip’s comment regarding the backside of LaLande. Dan is looking really happy and his boys are so adorable. Amaury does look like Thor. All he needs is that big hammer🤣🤣🤣Thanks for sharing 😍😘
What a joyous and entertaining video this was with plenty of Lalande fun and frivolity. I really needed that today! Thank you Stephanie and a big congrats for FINALLY achieving your French certificate. You must have already and single handedly, put France and it’s Chateaux on the world stage. 👏💐💖
Just watching DIY what a wonderful thing you have done keeping your dear fathers memories alive by turning one of his paintings into wallpaper so great well done to Gerald and yourself, god bless you x
Cannot wait to see it! Sad to see your cold coming... Australian spring is being very shy. Where I am, sometimes we have autumn almost all year. I have a new garden and am anxious to plant out but it keeps raining.
@@juliad368 I couldn't agree more. I moved to QLD 7 years ago from Sydney and the humidity is killing me, but at 59 and given money couldn't afford to move, mind you Sydney gets humid too but there's more of a reprieve. Anyway, it's better cooler than intense heat in my opinion.
I am so sorry about the leaks. It is awful. We are getting our documentation together for the application of the crate de séjour. 😳😩🤪. What an enchanted vlog. Thank you
Geez! What an exercise getting your French certificate I would have been so stressed, but you do it all with a smile. Love your positivity Stephanie. The brunch looked yummy too.
What could be better than to enjoy early morning on a cool day. The rose is beautiful, and my favorite color. It's so nice to have free time for family and friends. Life is so short. Opening up your home to others is so heart felt. Glad you received your french document..looking forward to seeing film, on the chateau for sale.
Did you actually introduce the new arrival? I didn’t hear her name? Lovely video as usual.🥰🙋🏼♀️ I keep wondering , do you use the kitchen stove daily once the cold has arrived? It would make the kitchen so warm and cozy for everyone to gather and work, it throws off lots of heat I’ve heard.
And now your dating foriegn:) love all of you La Landers. Love watching the beautiful woodwork and redecor with the beautiful past. Don't see that anymore, just white boxes to live in now. Great job so beautiful
Another awesome vlog! ❤ Can't wait to see the the transformation of the grand salon!! 🥰🥰🥰 also I hope those guys come back and fit those log burners before winter hits ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@TheChateauDiaries Cant understand why they didnt check her height before attempting it......grrr grrr grrr...🤣🤣🤣 Sending lady luck your way 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
