Overall we have been delighted with our luxury vinyl plank flooring. It has been extremely durable, hides the dirt when it's a little dirty, and is super easy to clean and maintain. It installed relatively easily and really has a premium look and feel. After two years of use and abuse, it still looks new. The only real issue we have come across is that it has slightly separated in a few spots, likely due to the bouncing around in a moving vehicle.

I love the amazement on your face. "That totally worked." 😃

Another way to do this that I have used - pick up a cheap white rubber mallet (black will leave marks) and cut one end to have a 45 degree angle, then just hit the board you want to move. Been doing this for years at our sticks and bricks and now in our RV - also works well during installing flooring.

That 3M VHB tape is great stuff.

On problem pieces I like fill the joint with some clear silicone to make them stay in place. It is much easier to clean up with a scrubbing pad and allows the floor to still flex.

Juan for the fix yet again!! Be interesting to see if the super glue does the trick.

Thank you Sun - yes I am hoping the super glue does the trick! It took a little over a year and half for the other ones to come apart so hopefully I can report back later that the ones I glued have stayed together ... we'll see.

I have used super glue...gel not the runny kind. It works, but don't put so much in because the squeeze out will damage the finish

Any idea why it separates? This is happening to our floor, and it's so frustrating. Our floor hasn't even been in for 3 years.

Nice fix, I am assuming that you just installed as a loose lay, in other words no glue was used originally? I have a click lock floor at home and a number of joints have separated, why did they ever think that these types of floors don't require gluing, at the the bear minimum at least glue all the the end joints.

Thank you - yes I installed it as a floating floor with no glue. I have installed floor like this many times but never in a moving vehicle :).

That’s the same tape we were experimenting with for holding down solar panels… Nope! But it does stick a LOT better to clean metal. You won’t pull it straight off, but you can rock it off.

Yes! I remember seeing it in your video. It is a great product but I just wouldn't trust it on solar panels. Maybe I am paranoid but the thought of a 54lb solar panel or two flying off at 60mph is terrifying to me.

Is that lifeproof floor from Home Depot? That’s what we used and I hope it doesn’t do that.

No we got it at a local flooring store - overall we are very pleased with it other than these gaps. Hopefully the glue works to keep the gaps together ... I will report back if it comes apart again.

Would you be willing to share the Brand name of your flooring? I have also experienced loose joints. I just put my rubber sole shoe on and slam your foot to close em up. This closure method can also case the loose joints to daisy chain back to the wall. I'm looking to toss this floor, if I can find a better maker. Thaanks for reading this

Hi William - We ordered from a local flooring company, but the name of the product is called Prime Premium Waterproof Maple Beautiful Beige Flooring. We have not been able to find a direct link other than through independent flooring companies.

Does this happen because of the bus flexing?
@BeginningfromthisMorning
@BeginningfromthisMorning Год назад
I am not 100% sure but I think it has more to do with the heat/cold/heat/cold cycles than flexing. I don't think the bus floor actually flexes very much (if at all) but we have been in freezing temperatures and we are not in 115 degree weather.
