40 year flooring Contractor here. For those attempting to do this type repair. Don't use a straight blade on your reciprocal tool. Use a radiused blade. In other words a semi circle. It won't jump and chatter. It will follow the line effortlessly. Suction clamps aren't necessary. Also as others have said DON'T cut cross handed like this. And by NO means put a nail through the floor. 🤦‍♂️ Otherwise pretty good video. I'm sure it's helped lots of people.

So why didn’t you share your 40 years of knowledge by showing us the correct way with your own video? Always some know it all with “don’t do this, don’t do that” crap. I personally found the suction puller worked like a charm far more than not having it. It’s by far the best way to control the new flooring if you’re a novice. Also the straight blade worked just fine without issues since it was all I had. Other than the agreement with the knife safety advice the guys video is on point.

NIce video i mostly wanted to see what glue to use the Vinyl plank. Something you might consider , when i cut out the planking I just rip with circular saw about and inch from seams making a square, then , and you might have to use the dremel to complete the corners the center pops out , then take a drill with small bit and drill holes at a 45 degree to the corner on all four , it will just snap out. no need to watch a dancing dremel damage existing piece

Your 3 laminate fix videos I've just watched are absolutely brilliant 👏 I have some water damage in the bathroom after my step son left soaking wet towel on the floor.. I'm gonna try to repair it before ripping out. But we also have a few dips and clicks elsewhere that I just thought couldn't be fixed. You have just changed that! If you have laminate, not vinyl click...do you still use the top laminate coating melt and fill? I'm gonna guess that just also probably plastic, If not.. I'm wondering what else could be melted and squished into place? In the uk we have a few types of 'caulk' silicone bath seal is also call sealant caulk..but generally known as silicone sealant. Decorators caulk would be acrylic based paintable that shrinks and drys slightly flexible. Is that the type you recommend?

Great videos keep them coming. So, when you glued the joint with the 2P-10 Thick Adhesive did you use the activator with it? or is it not necessary for that application? not sure if I missed it. Thank's.
@FixThisHouse
@FixThisHouse 2 года назад
Thank you! I personally would not use the activator on this situation unless you can it position it perfectly on the first try because the activator adhesion is instant. Just using the glue would give you some buffer time to position and tap the plank in place 👍🏽😊

Great tutorial...The thing I'm up against is a little different though...and I'm hoping you, can offer me a few suggestions. The person that did the installation for me 2 yrs ago apparently either placed a few of the planks too tight, and they began to buckle a bit, or he didn't tap down the edges with a rubber mallet well enough everywhere because in 4-6 places, (a couple at the short end, and a couple along the long length), the planks weren't completely flush, and a few of the edges seared off when I slid a wooden stool across the floor. I kept the slivers thinking I may need them to repair the floor, but when I tried to insert the slivers that broke off, it didn't help keep the larger planks that are on the floor stay down, because there were a few smaller pieces missing. After I saw your tutorial, I thought I might try what you showed on the video, but I couldn't locate any extra planks anywhere, and when I called PROSOURCE OF TAMPA, the place where I purchased them, I was told that they were discontinued. So, now what can I do? Should I glue the slivers I have down with that 2P-10 thick version where they're missing, and a little on the edges of the planks so they'll lay down flat? Then what can I do to the few areas that are missing small sliver pieces? Use a colored caulk that matches well with the floor? Not sure what to do! I can't afford to replace the entire floor, and I don't want it to get worse. The floor underneath is 8' ceramic tile. Your recommendations would really be appreciated.
