I was watching the way the video cut around, thinking... "there's no way he's welding." That final cut when they show it, I dam near threw my fucking phone...
So... I had some welding I needed done on a trailer. $800 to repair a side rail, weld the porch back to the axle, weld the neck back to the frame, weld on a new fender and attach the channel I removed to add new decking. Seemed fair but I only paid $800 for the trailer. So I bought a titanium 125 FCAW from harbor freight and learned to weld. Looks as good as this guy's work. Saved me money, got myself a new tool and am still learning a new useful skill. I'll never be a pipe fitter... But I never wanted to be.
@@Dutch.WThat's why they call us a "Jack of all trades, master of none". I can figure out nearly anything well enough to make it work again. Sure, I may not be a good welder but most people don't know how to weld at all so at least I can get the job done and get back to work without having to pay some dude to come fix it "next Friday". You're damn right it'll be ugly but it'll work 😂
Fixed so many of these when I was running my fab shop. The roofing company next door would bring by nearly one a week. All my contractor buddies with dump trailers did theirs at least once or twice, usually their workers or someone they lent it to. Common theme was I basically never saw anyone break their own trailer, but everyone's trailer got broken at some point. Lesson learned - never lend dump trailers out.
Yeah, thats just a HDepot special nail picker-upper magnet on wheels. They have a small round one too that looks like a golf club (w\out wheels). The bigger contractor grade models with bigger wheels are especially good for roofing tear-offs to get all of the nails picked up, in the grass especially!
Guess you’ve never seen anyone actually repair one competently. I’ve worked on oilfield and mining heavy haul trucks/trailers/equipment my entire career and no welder worth his salt would call that a welding repair. guys welds look like bubble gum stuck on old dog turds. no prepwork….
I operate and own a mobile welding service, this is good money, we specialize in trailer repair. I have done many of these types of repairs. Even though I work for my own company, I still love seeing people attempt to repair there own stuff. Been in the business over 7 years, and still learn stuff from people who don't do it for a living. Keep it up!

Oh shit thank u sir!!! I was just thinking to myself today i wish there was a magnet type of tool like the one u used at the end. I drove a truck/trailer and some of these warehouses have tons of metal on the ground im the parking lot... so much so that ill get out and walk the parking lot and chuck all the nails, screws and finishing nails out of the lot... i need that magnet broom!!❤ Literally today😅
I found a homemade one in our shop a few years ago. I was so perplexed at first, but when I realized they were magnets on the bottom it hit me. They're mighty useful, and if you don't want to spend a few bucks on a real one, some old trolly wheels and speaker magnets strapped to a 2x4 will do a great job. It's main job nowadays is finding my RC parts when I inevitably cartwheel the thing at 60km/h.
I always thought I was a terrible stick welder but then I see videos like this of “professional” welders and I think holy shit I’m pretty decent at stick welding

Have you put the wedge in right at the edge of the trailer at the back so the hinges are protected from debris or rock put into these trailers I thought it was actually a pretty nifty mod that my local rental place did
I see you went with the classic gorilla weld. Interesting choice, but at least you know it will hold, and that is what is really important in a job like that.

when we slap the gates on those at the factory we just use a pry bar to bend the doors back into position, you would be surprised what you can fix with anger and ironsmoke.
You should see my dads trailer door he didnt bother doing half of these repairs It's held together with bent metal rebars and a few wacks with the sledgehammer opens and closes the tailgate.
One door was locked back and the other swung loose, the dump trailer went up and bent the one door up out of line by at least 8", we took a sledge hammer and pounded the door back into place, took like 15 minutes, looked new.
I had one of these dump trailers they are terrible. The sad thing is the first time they go to dump dirt again the doors might swing down and then the Hydraulic's bend the shit out of the door again. OR they get tweaked while loading it. I eventually just took mine off and just loaded the dirt further up the trailer and tarped it until time to unload.
