I’m currently running the halo, been thru some parts and the best thing I can say with halo is the warranty. Chip kicks ass and always makes it right.

The sleeve retaining Loctite works great for what it's intended to do. Fwiw I tried using it as a thread locker and was surprised at how easy it was to loosen the bolts.

Now, have to admit I'm not an engineer but I'm a pretty damn good mechanic with common sense.... That being said, The problem I believe is the rotation of the ring gear in time simply unscrews the bolts.. if this is a case, simply reversing the threads make them left hand, should fix this issue if this is the issue.... very simple very cheap from a production point of view... But hey, what do I know? Lol!

I've always wondered what was inside of a Halo 30. You beat on your rig pretty hard so they must be pretty tough. I suppose I'll break my RS1 in my Pro XP one of these days, probably after I build out a tube chassis.

Don't know how you feel about mentioning other RU-vid channels but the Can-Am Crew dude (another great channel) sells his badass X3 front diffs, super beefy they actually take the same axle as the rear diff does... something that you may want to look into or maybe you already have, just an offering a suggestion.... Great channel by the way, Sub here!

Yea I’ve seen them I like the idea of them but it still has the same size pion that will break is the only reason I haven’t switched

Mmmm... I think The ring and pinion size is sufficient, it's just the bolts always back out and cause a cascade effect IE carnage..like i stated earlier.. if it was reverse rotation on a threads and bolts I think that would fix the issue...??

I think the Can-Am crew has one for the halos that they designed

Why not just take your tig welder and put a small tack weld on the bolt. Small enough that the impact could brake it loose if need be…

I didn’t have the correct bolts in when I had it tig welded

Because of something did break it would be hella tough to repair it being welded... The best option is to achieve the correct design in the first place!

Serious question. When do you ever use non diff lock in your rig? Polaris guy here. Essentially our front diffs are supposed to be locked anytime 4x4 is engaged. “Supposed to be”. Mines been pretty good so far though. Just curious if you ever actually use non diff lock in the X3’s. I can imagine it would turn easier unlocked, but that’s about the only positive I can think of to the lock and unlock.

I use 3WD for cruising on steep trails or when ripping around and want alittle more traction but I lock it for big hill killin or rock crawling but you can unlock it to back up and keep everything from binding up

@@brokeboysoffroad8819 okay awesome makes sense. I’ve never been in an X3 before really not sure what they’re all about! Love the vids man. Keep it up! 👍

Of course three-wheel drive is preferred in racing conditions and have a selectable four-wheel lock is preferred in rock hauling or for maximum traction conditions having each is the best of both worlds. But to make them tough and efficient is another story.. it's easier to make a strong robust fully locked diff than it is to have a 3/4 option.. Even the mighty RS1 diff fails at a higher rate than we prefere....
