We're lucky in Australia as cars made after the 1980s don't typically rust. It does snow here in the mountains but they don't salt the roads, they grate them instead. Lots of clean E46 shells here.

Hey Evan, which shop did you do this at? I’m in the literal exact same situation as you in the beginning of this video. I live in mass and just bought a 04 ZHP rusting in the same areas as yours and would like the quarter panels done as well as the fenders

It's a bargain! I just spent north of 5K to get my 2005 ZHP up to spec, and it was no where near that rusty. One cannot appreciate how much work it is until you see it done on your car. Save the e46.

How much does it cost to fix the rust and respray the car? I am much interested how much does it cost the rust fix.

Did you have to remove the fuel tank for this job, or is protecting it up with some fireproof blankets or similar enough?

I dont know the pruce of cars where you are but for that you can buy a rust free example here and epoxy the problem areas to prevent any rust.

I have the same issue with my rear right quarter, I just can't understand how the other side and front wings are still immaculate, must just be one of those things

How did he weld the inside sheet metal for the quarter?

What’s the coating for the inside to stop I happening again or does he just primer inside?

How expensive was the body work?

Have you had problems with the rear subframe? Mine is completely rusted and don't know what to do! Can't find them online.

Why didnt you get the rear bumper sprayed when he had the paint mixed up ? Wouldnt have costed much more.

I have a 330d Sport saloon with the exact same issues (but decent factory paint). I am torn weather to get it fixed up properly like this or just drive it until it holes through then scrap it for something else. Non - M E46s aren't worth too much right now so financially it doesn't really make sense to invest £3k in a car worth barely £2k but looking at M3 prices, I think they might start to head up soon so maybe in 4 or 5 years it WILL be financially viable..I'm just not sure my rear arches will survive another 5 wet salty British winters :-/ BTW its not water that causes them to rust - its the dirt and salt crud that builds up behind the arch lip/liner. They should be jet washed regularly and I would advise remove the arch liner and clean out all the crap at least once a year in spring to de-salt the car if you want it to stay in good condition. BMW did a really crappy design job with the arches.

I have the same rust on my e46 but the whole car only cost me 2400€ so idk if I should have it done. But I want the car for at least 2 more years and then I want to buy another e46 but with a 6 cylinder engine. However I won't get much money for a rusted out 318i..... Idk what I should do

A lot of work for an SE🤔 bumper isn't a perfect fit and if being hyper critical, the right side quarter trim where they cut in, the bottom area hasn't been smoothed in perfectly as the trim shows it up Here in the UK that would get ragged out, save the sport models (330ci 330cd M Sport) 👍🏻

My car has no rust at all not even under the car , it has 204,000 miles suspension is fully refurbished i am working on the interior now but I noticed there was a small dent on the quarter panel where it sits next to the rear bumper on the left side , and the scratch is showing a small amount of rust

That is why it's so important posting caverty wax in all does rubber openings And you shoul never drive an e46 in the salt e46 ist the worst bmw in point of rust they can also rust at the front frame where the brakline is. And if you can see the rust on the e46 it's nearly every time Mutch worse
