Finally Mercedes Benz extended the warranty of their prompt to fault SBC Pumps and because of that, owners of a few different chassis cars from the 2000s can fix their cars for free.

You know what Mercedes are peice of shit I owned 3 and currently have the e500 and I'm truly tired the s500 and s550 both have me the same issues airmatic suspension to low visit workshop now the e500 the sbc is affecting the abs it said left front wheel sensor changed that and the axle and still same message even after clearing the code with star its dangerous because when it failed I had my kids in the car the steering got extremely hard to turn it's just been a true nightmare I had to buy a used Honda just to get around and surprised no problems at all with the honda Mercedes should be sued for selling this junk the way I feel right now you couldn't give me one for free I'd rather put more confidence in riding a damm bike because I buy another Mercedes

Well, at least the switched the sbc pumps for free at some point. The airmatic is problematic and that's the reason I bought an e350, it has a coil strut setup. Mercedes cars are great if you know which one to get and how to maintain it. I guess bicycle works too as an exercise vehicle tho. All the best

Yes some are ok but I had no luck with mine I think they are over engineered prone to problems I think the only Mercedes I would drive is the e55 only because of durability I think if Mercedes kept out some of the complexity they would be very nice cars but something as simple as a glove compartment light fuse can throw the car into limp mode...my next car will be a Lexus or newer honda....wish you well

I'd recommend a W210 E55 as a bullet proof Mercedes-Benz option. Or the w211 E55 with a coil over conversion. All the newer stuff is fragile and not worthwhile.

I live in Jakarta, Indonesia has a problem with SBC units having to be replaced because the pressure is only up to 70. My Mercedez is W211, E240, Avantgarde. However, Mercedez Jakarta only provides a warranty for the replacement of the short timing cable. Can anyone share an email address of Mercedez Germany to ask about this?

Yup I had my sbc replaced in October. I was happy when found out about the extension in August and letters were sent out. I think they only gave it like 50% life though.

Hey how's it going my friend I am the owner of a 2006 Mercedes E350 I hope you can help me if you can of course I would appreciate it I was driving down the street all my dash lights went out the car continue to run all my lights work blinkers headliner dome light everything works but the lights on the console no RPM gauge no mile per hour I checked the fuses was my first thing to check I checked all the fuses and now my key doesn't even fit where it's supposed to because I was checking after every couple fuses if the car would still start and it did but now the key doesn't even go in to the whole can you help me please or am I just totally screwed

Ok, first recheck all the fuses. If they are all ok, you might have burned the EIS or your key lost programming. I would bet on a fuse first tho. I think that the gauges stoped working because they were faulty. Will look in possible causes, but you should first look online at what your fuse diagram looks like and check the one for the ignition.

Usually they won't warranty that unless the the RED warning light on. Mine would come on periodically and it was because the backup battery was shot and not giving enough voltage to the unit

Has to check with dealer o Germany because a recall depends where car is final ensembles and parts precedence. Dealer has to check the VIM status . And precedence.

Hi there. I hear you're mentioned the smell of fuel when you fill up to full. Do you know what was the fault that caused it, what did the dealer fix? I have the same problem with my E500 here in South Africa, I want to fix my one, and see if I can do it myself.

My Mercedes workshop says you have to have had your car serviced at a sertified workshop for the extended warranty to be applicaable. Does anyone know if this is this true?

I. Remembering that dealer I’m working there for 5 years nice to see again , working with Mercedes Benz for 22 years different dealers and is good to check all recalls all time. Time and money the best or nothing..

Mercedes sent it to me in the mail. But even if you don't have it, you may go to the dealership and ask them about the recall.

I have a 2005 E500 and that brake service light has been coming on for me. Plus my check engine light comes on. Nothing wrong with car,runs good. Anything you can reccomend? I'm based in CA Bay Area

Yes, the warranty and recall should be international. The best way to find out is to call the nearest to you dealership and make an appointment

Mine is 2006 e350 it has brake light battery light and misfire in cylinder 1. The batterys good brakes good new ignition coils and plugs but still cant fix this thing.

Make sure you plug it in to check. It may be your pads

@@CarGhost yes, could be the pads, but I believe the warning on the dash was slightly different than a normal break wear warning.

USED CARS PROJECT , I can only speak for my 2004 E500, but it has been a really good car so far. It has 104,000 miles on it and just now is needing brakes. I also had to recently replace the valve cover gaskets as their leaking got worse and worse. It has had to have both new batteries and an alternator. I replaced the 16 spark plugs and spark plug wires when I did the valve cover gaskets. Mine still runs and drives great! Knock on wood! Have a great day. Tom

I did get to talk to someone at a MB in another city and after searching she says Ok will order the part, I ask how long it would take , she has no idea never order that part she did take my contact info. will let be know, so I am on my way to getting it SBC replace, Thanks to your post, your an angel, Question did u have to ask for a loaner or they offered it or ur insurance covers it?

I did ask for a loaner when scheduling the visit. It is easier that way because here in nyc they only have so many loaners and sometimes they don't have one available. It doesn't hurt to ask in advance

The sbc is your brake booster. Most likely. Check with your local MB dealer.

@@CarGhost ok, lately that has been coming on and off.. but I thought it was a problem with my charging because my battery light comes on too.. but it never dies and also my abs light comes… I unplugged a harnesses to my shifter to stop the abs from locking my shifter up.. this may explains alot of what’s going on with my car now…. I’m definitely contacting my local Benz dealer….

The one for the battery has a battery picture on it. The one for the sbc pump has a picture of the brakes

If you have the one for the battery, check your auxiliary battery as well as your alternator

Mine was the accumulator was not holding pressure but the accumulator was on back order so the area service manager authorized the entire pump unit. Got a nice 2019 loaner from them too. My fuel tank had been done in 2008/2009. What a great company
