Knowing the sims team, if they gave us elevators to move between floors there would be a loading screen every time you travel between floors in your own lot 😂
3:25 This is the biggest let down of the gallery for me. You'd think the filter works like how basic filtering works but it's the opposite here. It is so hard for the limited pack players to search for post with only owned pack because the filter is messed up.
Like with almost any other app, program, game... the devs of these products don't actually use them. They can't. There is no way they could and still have them not function properly.
Oh I thought it was just mine, is your 'open gallary question' working? You know that thing they added last year to help toggle the gallery faster by going to your personal gallery first and asking you if you mind having the gallery fully open that save? That thing was actually useful in keeping my game from lagging! And I rarely use the open gallery, I usually just use my own to place lots or my friends list, so having to wait for the Internet to load random lots when Im going straight to my saves is annoying, more so now when they fixed it, but now its not working smh, so I thought maybe they took it off because I know some people complained? So bug or fix?😅 Omg, and the friends list is broken too! It hides and deletes people from my list so I have to go find them again! Is that just me?
you and lilsimsie exemplify the duality of the sims community rather well. Super excited by any piece of new content vs. bitching about EA's scummy tactics
I think some you tubers are contributing to the issues of sims 4. They are hyping up a crap game and excusing EA trashy approach toward their customers. They are saying it’s ok that a game is broken
I don’t understand why EA just doesn’t officially hire the modders to make an amazing game? They would both benefit and the expansion packs would be 10x better
Yeah, Minecraft has done stuff like that at least once. They used the code from a horse mod to add horses to the game, and I assume payed the original modders a lot. Idk if they ever hired modders though. Probably
I used to write mods for the sims 4. Not only are most of mine now no longer necessary because EA put them in the game, I did not get paid, I didn't get credit, I didn't even get a thank you. I don't think any other modder who actually improved the game ever got any of that because EA absolutely lost their touch to reality, they are vultures and they deserve to be put out of business.
@@CosimaNonymouse a bit off topic but do you have any tips on how to get started with modding ts4? I know a bit of Python, but all the tutorials I can find assume you know a lot about coding already, only work for PC and not Mac, or are years out of date.
Start with the xml files. Coding comes before proramming. Mods for consoles? I'm not sure, if it was possible there'd be a lot more by now. I got into it by an outdated mod that I really liked when it was still working and just compared the vanilla files to the modded file. There are great tutorials for both xml and phython, here on yt and over at the sims 4 studio.@@MoldyRainbowButter
The fact that they made a pack about building multi-unit rental properties and didn't put in either elevators or spiral staircases is utterly hilarious. Never mind that proper elevators should have come with City Living 😂
One of the City Living doors has swatches with a variety of numbers on it. The better question is why didn't they use those for the City Living apartments 🤔
as a southeast asian its kinda sad how EA is selling out our culture like this. It has happened with raya and the last dragon and now this lol sad how i was extremely excited to build my irl house and play it as a residence complex only to find it broken and lazy. I know they shove like multiples cultures from different countries but to me this is just a cheap way to engage us into buying.. Edit: Sorry, just to clarify, I realized my sentence was a bit ambiguous; my whole point was mostly about EA monetizing cultures and not about representations. Well, part of it is, because they know if they paywall a certain content, especially catering to a specific culture, there will be more people buying this pack for that representation. If you're gonna paywall our culture like this, at least PLEASE make it worth our money. The rent is supposed to be the main feature of this pack, yet they literally leave it broken and unplayable. The world isn't even that big for an expansion pack, and it's just plain sad. It's like EA is dangling For Rent to us and is like "aight, heres some bb objects and some clothings that looks like the real things to make you feel like home. now give us your money"
I'm from Singapore and I'm just confused as to why our shophouses are in what is supposed to be a Thai world. I mean I'm not mad about it but like its so dumb tho
As a Brazilian, I feel the same about Jungle Adventure. I was excited to be able to build with South American items/architecture, in a world based where I live. Only to get a, ngl enjoying, but extremely limited game pack. You can't even live in Selvadorada, just go there to "explore", steal some ancient artifacts and come back home. I just sounded so iffy. Plus, weirdly enough, I was more "familiar" with the objects from For Rent than Jungle Adventure, which does make me think if they did an actual research before doing all this.
Loading screens are such a game breaker for me … It is just such an immersion breaker when you load your neighbours' house and the whole neighbourhood resets!!!!
I just sent in a bug report. My property owner "lost" her property, after I went with the teenage daughter to high school. The property was no longer listed as owned, in live mode, in the familys overview over owned properties - just gone. But if I checked in manage world, the lot was still owned by that family. And they still got notifications about stuff going wrong, but I couldnt do anything about it, because I didnt own it anymore - yet I did. 🤦♀
Omg thats horrible! This is why it never really made sense why they wouldnt let the gamers test the games with their other packs, just testing the pack alone without the rest clearly doesnt test how other mechanics mess with it 🤦🏽♀️ I hope more people pick up on this since it doesnt seem that common yet but its a big one, I wonder if university, or other open career's would give the same problem? Cause really having an off campus rentable home/house share makes the most sense, but sounds like it'll be really buggy, as in the renters wont go to school 🤔
You and lilsimsie are two of my faves, you balance each other out! She's extremely enthusiastic and optimistic about the game, and you're a lot more real and skeptical. Both are needed imo.
I mean...being unrealistically optimistic about a company taking advantage of players and tapping into addictive tendencies isn't needed. It's harmful to encourage people to support a company that takes advantage of them by offering buggy, incomplete packs. Would you be optimistic about a car you bought that had no brakes or windows? It's still 75% of a car, after all, think about what you're still getting! You'll probably get brakes one day, maybe! - If that's not okay in other business practices, why should it be lauded in video games? It's still false advertising and bad business.
Lilsimsie is not unrealistically optimistic about the game. She is very even minded and is quick to point out when stuff is glitchy and broken. Simsie loves the game, for sure, but she is frequently vocal about EA's mistakes. Kayla is more heavily into building so her opinions usually lean towards that aspect of them game, but she always states that when she does her reviews. She's the reason why I would never buy the My Wedding Stories pack.
2:00 I never thought that, but at one point I started to think she was a shill for EA or something, but it was you, Satch, that made me realize she's just a Sims builder. 90% of her content is building and build challenges, so she gets her money's worth from each pack.
To be fair though, many people delete premade lots and build their own or download their own so what the game comes with isn’t as important to some. As for LilSimsie, she is bubbly and fun and you are honest, in your face, funny and realistic….you both have a place in the Sims YTsphere. We need both of you. People creating drama over your differences in Sims vlogging is dumb.
Well, builders do. Non-builders make do with what’s in game or what they download from the gallery… and since there’s a bug where you can’t place a rental from the gallery without changing the lot type first which no other lot type requires, people are double frustrated. 🤷🏼♀️
@@Manas-co8wl me too. I love both of them for what they bring to the table. We need the diversity in point of view. Can’t have all Simmer YTers the same, that would be boring.
The sad thing is that this diverges from the previous games, that came with premade families with a lot of lore and stories for us to explore, not only an empty world to create. I honestly don't care much, because as you said we can easily download something and replace in-game.
I gave a lot of thought to all of this and I came up with thinking that Tomarang should have been a pack to explore and learn about the beautiful culture they brushed on with proper places you can go and things you can do and then renting stuff not in the same pack. We are missing so many things to make proper apartment buildings ( like door with peep holes and lifts) and we only got boring rabbit holes for an absolutely beautiful World and culture. Honestly, disappointed. 🤷🏻♀️
I feel like the SEA theme just gave them an excuse to not give us elevators and any « big buildings » stuff, so they could say it’s not really fitting for the theme… wish they’d done a SEA pack with something other than renting as the main feature. Then we could have had the best of both worlds. Or at least they’d have had less of an excuse to not give us lifts and stuff…
you and simsie are my comfy sim youtubers lol that’s quite funny because you are absolutely different from each other, also i love your posting time, it’s always perfect for me
Those elevators work exactly like Realm of Magic portals/Jungle Adventures gates. It appears LittleMsSam just reskinned the teleporters to look like elevators from City Living (hence why the mod requires both packs).
@@mikasaackerman6224 I don't have jungle adventures, but if they're like the portals in realm of magic, there are exit and entrance gates that are specific to each other. Apparently there are more gate pairs in jungle adventure then there are portal pairs in realm of magic. I personally use a different elevator mod (that has realm of magic as a requirement) and even the modder states that the mod is a reskin of realm of magic's portals.
Update: the JA portals do work, but not if I shrink them down in size… which is unfortunate because they are way too big to use in regular builds. However I found a elevator mod that only requires base game. It’s called Uplifting Elevators by Ravasheen.
RVSN has the Lift/Elevators mod thats been available for years, with I think the animation, theres also a smaller lift, and invisible lift options. Highly recommend! I recommend LittleMsSams mods too, RVSN and LMS do combined mods or compatible mods with eachother or others, all maxis match and better the game and gameplay 😢
RVSN"s animated lift is just a door you can build around to make whatever lift you want :) you can put any wallpaper there, mirrors etc. I even thought about putting a wardrobe from Get Together just behind the door to test if sims can who inside. I like both mods.
For the elevator mod - these elevators are all connected, even if you use both different types. However, LittleMsSam also provides an addon which adds a second version of these elevtors, so you can have two seperate elevators!
I watch only your and Lilsimsie's Sims videos on RU-vid. The contrast make them so enjoyable. I don't prefer one channel over the other, but your videos serve as 🇫🇮 my daily dose of the 🇬🇧 British humour. 😅
I find Plumbella is like a middle ground between them - excitable about new stuff, but realistic about what's wrong/could be better. (Plus that A+ British humor!)
Lilsimsie calls out all the same things that are broken and hate that you call out too! She complains but i think she is more accepting with the problems which isnt a bad thing just different standards/baseline of happiness
You and lilsimsie are my two personalities and I love both yours and her reviews of packs. I tend to love things rather easily but I also hate unfair/poorly done things and will never miss out on a chance to complain. I feel like after I watch the two of you I am finally able to understand if I want to buy a pack.
I did the 40x30 lot, but it has a couple more than For Rent (werewolves, Jungle Adventure, and Snowy Escape) because the aesthetics worked. It was based on a DEBUG asset from the For Rent pack. 6 units (60-140 tiles) with quite a bit common area stuff (including an above ground pool).
for the big lot i downloaded a pool that was made with "for rent" only and also, lots of people already renovated the national park like someone actually turned it into a temple!
If you use the hashtags in the search on the gallery then put the pack name (for example #forrent) you are more likely to get builds with only that pack. It isn't perfect and it doesn't work for more than one pack. But unless the gallery filtering works then this is the best option I have found. This is how I used it once. I wanted a restaurant on a roof top in city living (the lot usually with a lounge) so I put is the search #cityliving and used the filter of restaurant lots and the lot size that I wanted and it worked some what well. Hope this helps someone and isn't too confusing to read.
i love your content satch, you make my day. i love sims and may appear to be harsh or hating sims 4 but i really just get so sad to see what my childhood has turned into
The big thing I am disapointed about, is the fact that we cant buy normal residential houses to own for ourself different homes, like a vacation home etc... I would have loved they added it on this real estate pack, it was the only opportunity? perhaps, unless they patch it in at some point...
yeah, if they wanted city living & for rent to be separate packs that badly, maybe city living could be apartment city life and for rent could specifically focus on real estate in all forms (vacation homes, hotels, etc). but ea couldn't even bother with that lol
actually I am having fun building my modern blocks for 6 units - with elevators, with utility rooms. with some shared spaces like spa-salon, gym and in the yard there is some area for BBQ, picnics, sports. it's like living in apartments but now we can have even more neighbours to live back-to-back. I have cute balconies to dry laundry, eat at fresh air or use skilled stuff, I have put small grills
I just love how smart the modders are. WWE uses the functionality of the portals/doors in jungle adventure with the elevator's skin (from city living). It's nothing new, we already have it in the game. And those EA bastards won't even bother to replicate it on the game, it's so absurd! Sim Realist mods are on another level, it looks like another game. The modder community is amazing, is such a shame we have to relay on them so much!
Same! My sims fiance kept coming over and just using the shower over and over again. And now, even though I didn't change anything in the bathroom, they won't use the shower unless I move it somewhere else, so it's currently in the backyard
i have that elevator mod. it's pretty useful as well in multiple story homes because of the kids that haven't learned to walk yet can use them, instead of being stuck in a floor until someone picks them up. same for kittens and puppies i think. the real estate mod has been updated btw
Guys if you had installed the Sim Realist Mods like Banking and the Realestate mode you need to delete it because the update broke it! It corrupted my saves so delete it before launching the game!
7:58 HONESTLY I LOVE USING SIM REALIST MODS! All of their mods are sooooo wonderful for realistic gameplay, and the best part is that all the mods can be used together!! The real estate mod pairs well with their banking mod
@PaigeHarris-ye8lz I love lilsimsie, but I gotta be honest, quite sure the comment was meant to be sarcastic 😅 Satch and lilsimsie are total opposites and that's what makes watching them both so fun!
Kinda ironic to see a small world for a something that represents SEA, like there's a lot of people there??? I find it funny how they just try to fill in the gaps that aren't in the game already since we already got some Filipino and Vietnamese foods in City Living (coincidentally an apartment pack). Heck, I noticed the lack of a Filipino household in the pack probably because they already did it in Growing Together (the Robles Family).
Numbers on apartment doors might be a regional thing, I have never lived in an apartment with the number on the door. In both of the US states I have lived in, they had the numbers on the wall next to the stairs or on the front of the building, the actual doors were all identical. Also, most apartments in the two states I have lived in, rarely have elevators because most buildings are not large or tall enough to justify them.
I did download EA’s apartments for other worlds from the Gallery, I’ve only played oasis springs apartment and majorly updated it. I still wish they pre loaded them in the world..and actually tried to make decent builds! But I will for sure check out lil Simsie
They should've done working elevators, and this could have been a good pack to introduce spiral staircases (that would've been one of the free update features).
good video i took 4 hrs lastnight uk time making a block of 4 apartments in a you shape , i even added a shared room with washing machins fuse box etc , and im 58 and autistc im not using sims 4 rent as we cant use our own cas which is a shame , con sidering the harm ea did to dragon age games and mass effect and then went for a live service game which crashed consoles not surprised they are run by shareholders who want money not people who play games
Yh I think EA personally doesnt fund them because they know modders will fix it, like their own working force they dont have to pay, especially since people buy the games anyway, they're saving millions on salaries alone 😒
It's not a theory, it's fact. It's a big industry problem - no unions for developers, so they're forced to work in 'crunch' conditions (look it up on Google), and we know for a fact that they don't pay QA people enough, so the QA is terrible, and we get packs full of bugs that should have been caught.
The occupied apartments never bother me because I typically evict any current residents of a new world anyway and make my own lol. Been living that landlord simulator for awhile.
I remember saying “I hope we get elevators in the for rent pack.” And completely forgot to check if we got any, and frankly I’m really sad in EA for that, but this mod even though there is no animation it’s still WORKS (unlike most of EA’s packs for the sims 😒) EA NEEDS to improve their work ethic and product quality before they kill the Sims for good. 🙁
I've said it somewhere else...but the testers went to Sims 5 and now we're getting so awful pieces because they *can't* test them anymore. (A bit sour on my end, apology!)
no one hates lilsimsie, its true that she oversells just like EA. She always acts like she enjoys every content they drop. Her and James damn near. But its expected. They don't want to end up like LGR and kicked off the creator team for not kissing EA's ass.
always used that mod by LilMsSam. But I have to say I do miss The Sims 2 elevators where you actually see your sim go into it and ride it to go in between floors. Not the modder's fault of course, It's because the gurus were just too lazy to put in the effort.
we have "my wedding disaster" case again. I watched an episode at James Turner channel. The fridge on shared space was broken, his sim called landlord, get him "inspect fridge" and he don't gave a shit about that, he went mopping puddles and make situps etc, evereything but make your landlord tasks. It is broken to the bone, landlords don't act like landlords, tenants don't pay rent, pure chaos again. I am so tired of that shit again
I saved up (as I don't just have $40 lying around at any given time) for HSY pack and wish I wouldn't of gotten it. I just send them on their own now, such a bollocks pack. Same goes for (and I really hate to say it cuz I love witches) Realm of Magic which was/is the first non base game I bought.
Omg you and lilsimise are my go to simers to watch you to get Info and Her to watch her twitter and builds I'm a very big builder in...ECT.2000 OG #Sims1
