Looks great! Nothing beats the aged bridges and tuners looks-wise. I’ve got a Mexican classic 60’s strat that I’ve had since ‘06 (similar to yours if I recall), and love the patina it’s acquired over the years.
Thank you! With the changes I’ve been making this guitar just gets better and better. At some point it needs a new nut as the one from the factory was cut pretty badly, string spacing is all wrong!
Those visible lacquer lines on the neck would drive me mad (OCD), so I’d have to blend them in somehow and / or stain the bare wood a bit. I also think a tortoise shell or white pearl pickguard would look amazing. It’s a lovely, lovely Tele you have there though.
Yeah I get that, my Music Man Mariposa is like this from the factory (at the headstock end) so I’m kinda used to it. I do have a mint pick guard that I flip between now and then but honestly I think the black works best with the lighter shade of sunburst. Thanks for watching!
Sounds awful 🤣🤣. I don’t dislike the modern stuff really, I’m just not likely to buy one over a vintage styled instrument. Saying that, the Mariposa has some fairly modern specs.
Nice t-shirt mate. I see a bit of grumbling about the severe line in the neck lacquer but it isn’t a million miles away from a Charvel Desolation I have, comes that way as standard and bothers me not at all
Thanks, me and the Mrs are big Sleep Token fans, caught them at Reading Festival and Wembley last year and off to see them at London o2 in November! My Music Man Mariposa also comes like this, at least at the headstock end, the headstock is fully lacquered then the rest of the neck is unfinished, I kinda like it like that.
I too am not a fan of the low profile Tele bridge, I swapped mine for a Gotoh with individual brass saddles, the original ones are brass but are then plated, Why Fender Why? I also swapped out my pickups for Texas Specials and fitted a Tusq nut and Tusq string trees
I’m not sure I follow which bit you mean, do you meant the side dot fret markers? I did do a bit more on it, nearing up the edges and I noticed a few spots that were still a little rough that I had missed in the first video.
Sorry, meant on the face of the body. The little chips they add for the relic look. It looked like you had blended those in in the second vid compared to your first.
