In this video I’m back to fixing my MK6 VW Golf that I bought from a scammer.
This time around I have a broken clutch and flywheel, a ruined bonnet and wing, a blocked DPF and more.

Great video, and a smart trick I learned from a friend and mechanic. When you are working on the brakes hydrolics, depress the brakepedal and lock it in place before you start. That way you block the master cylinder whitch will let no fluid thru the brakelines. There"ll be next to no spilled brakefluid on the ground. Works great:)

I used to get the wife involved in the early days . I used to put a beam across the bonnet landings and get my wife to take up the slack on the rope after lifting the gearbox by hand a few inches at a time. Once I had the gear box located, it was my wifes job, to take up the slake on the rope again and then put the first top bolt or bolts in place whilst I held it it place. I worked for myself doing cars for a living for many decades. I am retired now and we are still married. Best of luck to you feller, that did not look easy on that dirt, I have done it on the road, but that has got to be much harder. In my opinion VW's and most European cars have been crap for the last 20 years.

Well done - what an effort. I had a similar situation where our main car wasnt breaking, whereas the project cars were not driveable. A few things that might be useful - When filling in the liquid, you could hang the fluid tank above the hole and let gravity do its job. In order to loosen bolts used break fluid is helpful. In addition you can get a nut breaker (literal translation) and for the round screws there are special drills with for round screws.

My S3 leaked and burned like a sieve though… But so did my Prado (given the Prado had twice the kms 200k vs 400k). Fantastic. I can relate to this so much, the tools that aren't quite correct but you make them work, sat on a damp driveway, the swearing, everything takes twice as long as expected, getting distracted with fixing other stuff while in there. Unlike most these videos where someone is working on a ramp, in a workshop, everything very clean, tons of help etc.

I can literally feel the frustration myself, watching you working on the car - The feeling that the dead stuff is really not dead but mocking you and doing anything possible to obstruct you reaching your goal :D

I replaced the clutch on my ford fiesta with my dad, we only had a few axle stands and a trolley jack... A few pieces of wood to take the weight of the gearbox and little patience led to me lay on the floor pressing the gearbox back into place with my dad guiding from above.. I completely can relate to that sigh of relief when you first feel the splines connect and you get a good push. It's such a good feeling, but like you said, one to never feel again 😂 Nice work mate, loving the videos

A really entertaining and watchable channel, Nino! 👍🏻 this episode in particular, as I have a 61 plate MK6 1.6 BlueMotion with 93K on the clock. If I knew when I bought it what I know now, I’m not sure I’d have bought it 😉 Keep up the good work, the channel deserves to grow - and good luck to you ‘n’ the missus with the new arrival…. 👍🏻

You need to post more soon! honestly I watched many guys fix up newer cars than this even super cars but nothing compares to fixing everyday affordable gems like you do. You make us all believe that every thing has a second third forth tenth chance. This is perfect for the guy who doesn't believe he's good enough to change something on his car. So inspirational. Keep it up buddy. Your so positive. Ps. If your thinking of a new project or your cars just broke get stuck in you'll smash it take his positivity and succeed. We all believe in you. ❤

I have laughed my way through this episode. I did the clutch on my son's car last year, there were two of us, the gearbox fell off the trolley jack about 5 times trying to get it past the subframe. Well done doing it on your own.

As someone who works on my own car this channel is so relatable. The first thing to check when dealing with stuck brakes is to make sure the slide pins are not frozen. As for the DPF if its blocked with sooth use on car dpf cleaner it's foamy comes in a can with tube that you stick in oxygen sensor hole or pressure sensor if blocked with ash then you have to remove it off the car and reverse flush it.

Oh man... I have a 2007 Skoda Octavia RS TDI which shares a lot of components and the layout is the same. It has well surpassed 300k km and the DPF was tired. Have just spent a whole weekend under the car taking the DPF out, emptying it, and refitting alongside all subframe bushes and rods. All I got left is a good remap (DPF off, EGR off and a Stage 1) to bring it to +200hp and make it quick and reliable. Being under the car sometimes you feel like in the 4th circle of hell, but once it's all done and the engine starts right up... Nothing beats that feeling! Great video

The worst experience I've had with a vehicle in my life was a 9N Polo, so many mechanical issues in such a short space of time, it's amazing that there are still any older VWs on the road at all, the computers seem to be programmed to die after 10 years. The engine in mine was also the problematic BMD engine which eats valve guides for fun, those failed requiring a head rebuild. I gave up on saving it after the engine started to eat itself a few months after that. You are a much more patient man than I am.

Nino you are becoming a RU-vid Legend in your own lifetime. Another cracking video my friend. Your "post graft" 'collapses' are so funny. In fact all your "shots to camera" and "viewer interaction" is becoming Your Hallmark. It's certainly what makes your content so wonderfully entertaining. Add to that the commentary along each little chapter on each car's journey and the recipe for success is developing into something very special. You're now up there amongst the very best RU-vidrs of your generation. Add the empathy your "ever patient, never complaining & lovely" wife adds and you're understandably becoming a real SuperStar ⭐️. Just keep doing what you do and good luck both with the safe arrival of the little one 😊
