House gives Mark a dangerous drug cocktail to confirm that he really has AIP.
Stream full seasons on Peacock: pck.tv/39BlAG0
Season 1 Episode 22 "honeymoon"
House diagnoses Mark (Currie Graham), Stacy Warner's husband. Although the tests do not indicate a condition and Mark claims to be fine outside of stomach pain, it appears his brain is dying. House finds abdominal epilepsy, but cannot detect any memory loss. After Mark begins developing paralysis, House decides to treat him for Guillain-Barré syndrome. After confiding in Stacy that he still has feelings for her, House realizes that Mark had experienced delusions, and actually suffered from acute intermittent porphyria (AIP). With support from Stacy, but not from his team, House gives Mark a dangerous drug cocktail to confirm that he really has AIP. Cuddy decides to hire Stacy as the hospital's lawyer.

Earlier in the episode, Chase discovers that Mark switched from mountain biking to yoga and when he tries bringing that up as being indicative of a symptom, both Foreman and House immediately dismiss it as just a sign of getting older. House resented Stacy ever since then, and still stubbornly believes that he was right, at least ostensibly. Whether he actually believes he was right (regardless of the result), we don't know. But we do know he wants Stacy to know he was right. Stacy knew House was still holding onto that which is why she accuses him of trying to get back at her, which is more or less true, depending on his true belief. We do get a glimpse of his true belief as he stares at them hugging each other, which is a stark contrast to what happened with House and Stacy. @@cdwarrior6582 well, you're correct. When it is not detrimental to us, we will help people (sometimes it might even be good for us cuz we get a hero status). But that's not the case with what's happening to House here. The husband is the living example of House's "insufficiency". House can't stand the him because the husband is the walking proof and reason why Stacy doesn't want to be with him. That's why in the episode he says that he wants to let him die, that he feels happy that the guy will die. It *_is_* detrimental for him to save the husband's life cuz it's hurting him. It's hurting his feelings, ego, pride, everything. So it is, as the OP commenter has pointed out, unusual that he can put all that aside and decide to treat the guy. I told an anethetist that I am allergic to barbiturates. He laughed - my heart stopped three times during surgery. Intestinal problems could be a good indication. Obstruction and perforation. Stay away from preservatives, too much sun and or in some instances even bright lights. My brother's kidneys packed up and for many years he hallucinated and suffered from severe sleep apnea. @KS-xk2so
@KS-xk2so 2 года назад
Honestly I think the mistake was fucking House up so much before they let him get a shot at being with Cuddy. House of Seasons 1-4 and Cuddy would've made a good couple. By Season 7 they'd destroyed House as a character to the point where it was obvious he'd never be happy with anyone, plus they'd saddled Cuddy with a kid by then. Talk about doomed from the start. Had they tried it earlier, he probably could've stayed the jerk he was, but had some happiness.

I don't think it's ego trying to keep House from forcing a cocktail of API trigger chemicals into a unconsenting patient's IV. While House is always right, the characters don't know that and they know what the law is for doctors. They can't force something on a patient. They have to consent to treatment. They can let the patient die if the patient doesn't consent. If House was wrong, and he'd ended off worse than he already was, it wouldn't just be a "normal" malpractice lawsuit.
