I love roadtripping in my own country. My parents were very good at taking us on roadtrips (mostly up to northern norway where family lives) when I was a little girl and so from that I've just got so many wonderful memories and always wanting to make new ones. Even the old roads travelled never gets boring.

Hey, nice nice video and the places you chose to drive to! Gave us a short insider. May I ask questions? 1. How do get gas in Norway, is it self service? Do rural area gas stations generally accept credit cards? 2. Your kayaking, did u find the business online before your trip or typically just find one, and reservations are not needed? Thanks! ❤

1) There is gas everywhere, with and without stores and self-service. You can use credit cards everywhere. There is also a lot of electric stations. 2) There are many companies that have different activities, use google and also check out visitnorway.com :)

Thanks for the video. I plan to go to Norway mid-May and do a solo driving road trip. I have about 8 days, so I might give your route a try coz I love just taking my time and do plenty of scenic stops. I plan to car camp and sleep inside the car without paying for campgrounds. Were there areas during your drive where that was possible?
@Ottsworld
@Ottsworld 5 лет назад
I was staying in hotels the whole time, so I didn't even look for campgrounds. I would guess that it would be possible though as I believe Norway has the 'Right to Roam' - you can find out more about it here - www.visitnorway.com/plan-your-trip/travel-tips-a-z/right-of-access/

Fantastic video thanks for uploading, I am taking my family on a road trip from UK to Helsinki and Helsinki to Nordkapp via Rovaniemi and Nordkapp back to the UK via Tromso, Senja, Lofoten Islands, Trondheim, Alesund, Bergen, Stavanger, Oslo and on to the UK. Could you please share your camping, cabin experiences and where to camp or book cabins on the way from Nordkapp to Oslo, and if we do free camping how do we have a bath, because we are going up north via Sweden to Nordkapp and any other advice since we are travelling with 3 children under 8 years old, thanks

I don't think I can be of much help on camping sadly. We actually stayed in hotels all along the way - and dind't have any camping gear. I'm sorry. Here is my complete post I wrote about the trip and the hotels I stayed at as well as the exact route we took. www.ottsworld.com/blogs/norway-road-trip-fjordland/
@easterneuropeanfamiliesadv3599
Thank you for your prompt reply, your information is very helpful because we plan on a combination of hotels, camping, cabins and free camping up north to make it more adventurous for the kids and hotels or Airbnb as we get down to the south. Bergin Stavanger to Oslo. Your pictures of the scenery are wonderful and a great help on where to look and visit.

It was a great trip - despite that fact that it looked gray all the time - we had some incredible weather and views! I love driving on small little roads!

Me too! Especially if you can get lots of road time with very little traffic (as you did!) so you can ohh and ahh all you want, as slow as you want. Can't get enough of views like that!

It's funny seeing people fish and hold the rod the wrong way around, so the reel is at the top.:D It's like using a right side guitar the left side way. PS: If you're driving and people are on both sides of the road you stop, people have priority over cars.
