The baseline was from another sample, I believe. You nailed everything else though. ESPECIALLY putting the cutoff on the piano sample. A lot of people don't realize what Havoc did there. Well done.
thanks, it's obviously easier for me since the samples are listed but it took me a few years to figure out what havoc did to the original. i tried it in 2011 but that version sucked haha
When you try and sit 6 hours straight to make something similar and there is a guy on youtube who knows where exactly to place bass line like a magician
I find it so interesting that producers would use already existing samples and make something new out of it. It just says so much about the origin of music production. Not everyone is rich and sometimes you have to use what you can get your hands on. There’s a lot of talent in re-appropriating something. I think that this way of making music is so much more creative than just writing everything
Yep. The entire premise for hiphop in general can not exist without sampling . So when people try to remove it you are literally removing an element of the backbone of the genre
The original song was a sample of those same samples he just recreated the beat how it was actually almost made so he doesn't have to be original lol it's a recreation
I kept listening to Herbie Hancock - Jessica trying to figure out how they sampled the rhythm, thanks to you it turns out they slowed it down, thanks! I feel the first rhythm segment is not 100% same but maybe I'm just overhearing
Hey gj man! Btw, "fruity filter" is not in the latest version of fruity loops. Can I use any other filter to follow these steps? Or did they change the name of fruity filter? Thanks.
Nice attempt but if you were looking to create an identical version the drum pattern isn't quite right and the bass line is wrong. Hitting the wrong notes.
