Well i can confidently say i will be building my own 6 Dof. I quite like your design and the 3d printed parts. I took a look at your thread and its some great pointers, it would be nice to see a updated list of parts specs ect since there has been some changes since the last video. Parts are a little harder to source in the UK, if the preices arent already skyhigh. Well done dude, real nice setup!
I really need to get my motion rig going again! I have had sooo many issues with motion compensation and the Varjo Aero I gave up on motion until some of the issues are resolved. Thanks for the new video though because this was on my list of upgrades for sure.
Have you tried openxr motion compensation? They got it up and running real quick! The varjo seems to work better with the openxr over steamvr.. from what I've heard. So tracking should be better. Openxr (open composite) gets way better performance too. Check it out.
I have the aero and a 6 dof rig and I have no issue with motion compensation I think it might have to do with me having three base stations so maybe you can try that unless you have some other issue
Cheers mate! Yeah now I trust them to not pulverise me I might throw the headset on! Lol! My driving always sucks when I'm testing shit on camera! I can drive better.. not much.. but a bit better 🤣. Basically time to lay the tools down for a bit and get some more seat time!
Thanks man!! It certainly adds an extra level of immersion thats for sure. I think next I may have to join the CNC club.. I know that will definitely make sure I have no time left for the wife 🤣🤣
Really cool setup! I couldnt help but notice the qr codes at the wall, is it for use in VR? I hade the idea of creating sort of "Anchor points" for the tracking on the quest headsets for it to be able to remember its position better so i dont need to fiddle with recentering every time i play. Is this what you use them for?
Hey mate. Cheers. Yeah they help because the one downside of inside our tracking is it picks up the monitors alot and thinks your stationary. Mainly for use with motion compensation. I find just using 3 axis on the HMD has good results too as it just uses the gyro and not cameras
It looks very good, but you should add a grip between the back of the chair and the chassis, in the video you can see how it moves everything backwards...
Yeah its actually this chair. It's really cheap and nasty. I wanted a reclinable chair for those long sessions. But it has a stupid amount of play in the back rest. Even without the tensioner the chair still flexes alot. I would like a better chair one of these days for sure. But maybe I could do like you said for now and have something to wedge in there and stop the flex. Thanks for the idea :)
Exactly what I’m looking for! Just wondering how much a belt tensioner setup like this would cost me to add to my system? Motor, rollers, belt and controllers. I’m in Melbourne 👏👏👏👏
Hi, i just built 6dof and im thinking about ordering 6 of 110v 1000w servo motors with 30amp white controllers. Do you think 30amp white controller is ok in united state?
Sorry a bit late. Should be totally fine. most people use the 750w 20A setups there.. dont see why it wouldnt work.. these rigs dont even use 25% of the rated power anyway
@Simlife101 that's correct. 15khz, I believe is the white ones, from memory. But I have a million numbers running through my brain I never remember them when I'm recording on the spot haha.
The belt tensioner plans are paid plans to Chris Green. Aka flag ghost on the discord forums linked. If you're after my 6dof plans then my xsimulator.net page has them. The links can be found in most of my 6dof build related videos
