What was called the 1918 & BAR was actually a m1919 like the other 30 Cal. The chauchaut is fairly interesting to actually read up on. The .30-06 conversion that was initially made for us troops, and part of what made it's infamous reputation, was relegated to training and they were issued the French version on the frontlines

The hole in the magazine was also used so the assistant gunner/loader could watch & ready magazines. And interesting enough, was used to manually load the magazine as they could pull back on the follower itself, early in the war when the magazines you had were what you had. There is even a hole in the mags that you can stick a bullet through to hold the follower and spring back

I've collected FoW for years and this box set was a great way to expand my German forces while starting a U.S. army for my next faction. Great deal and highly recommended to anyone considering getting into this game.

This box set is a great value at $50 USD. I like the ability to use some of those Shermans for the Brits. I like the hard plastic infantry too.

Fantastic minis and review. I have a question about the cover art. Shouldn't the American flag patches on the uniform right sleeves have the blue field to the right? There is some regulation about "flag forward" or some such that makes the flag appear backwards on the right sleeves? Was this a thing in WWII?

This box is mighty tempting, though i play British armored core, the unit has changed multiple times as in trying to find an interesting one, and Finnish. Getting this box would require a whole new army

If I was ever to get into Flames of War I'd have to pulpify whatever I wa doing to make it more interesting to me, I mean as much as it would maybe to be cool to represent my grandfathers work I wouldnt collect an army to do it personally. But FoW has always been tempting

How many Shermans can actually be built? From this video, it looks like 6, with 2 optional upper hulls. Yet the box specifies 8. Which is correct?

So, for someone just getting into the game, like me, is this a better buy than the specific faction boxes previously shown?

Depends. Do you have a buddy who wants to get into the game? Also, how deep is your commitment to trying out the game? If you want all in then the "specific faction" sets are a great deal. But if you're not too sure then this set is the better buy. If you pair off with a buddy and split the cost then you're both only tossing in $25, roughly, into the game. In exchange you're each getting about 50 points plus the rules and other stuff you need to play (sans tokens... that was the one ball drop in this set in my opinion). With this you get a decent start into the game with a minimal investment of cash. If you like what you see then the "faction specific" boxed sets are a great way to boost your force to full 100 point army that has all the major elements that you need for a serious game. I personally recommend this set for beginners because you do get a solid start to playing the full game. Fury is nice, but you don't have "legal" armies in it- just a few tanks. They do mix well with this set though (although the STUG III is a bit lonely by itself).

The person from battlefront recommend to built this set according as what is recommended in the back of the box.... On the German side it is mention 2 PanzerGrenadier formation, actually they are GRENADIER formation. BIG THUMP DOWN for that. It is also unfortunate that they do not provide the decals in the kits. The 3 Panzer IV is with Zimmerit and look great. Price wise it's a great addition for the price. I'm a German fan in FOW and extremely unhappy that it does not contains the two PanzerGrenadier as mention.

you is wrong , in rear box i read 2 platoons panzergrenadier, not 2 formation.

Well, actually you're technically wrong. You CAN field this force as Panzergrenadiers too. The Fortress Europe Panzergrenadier formation (and the cards that come with the game) allow panzergrenadiers to be fielded both with and without the APCs. So for 9 points you can have 7 MG 34 teams or 5 MG34 teams for 7 points. You don't have enough MG42s (that is what this set has) to cover every team, but that isn't a big problem. But you're right in that this set was originally intended as to be a Grenadier formation with MG42s/98K teams (that is the weapons mix you actually have). That is a bit of a bummer, but not a deal breaker... at least for me.

@@randallcase1009 D-DAY GERMANS: i see formations: Not exist grenadier company. I see: Beach defence infantry company Fallschirmjager company Armoured panzergenadier panzergrenadier Reconnaissance Not see grenadiers. I know , historically not is accurate, grenadiers (the new name of heer infantry german) are in Normandy, but is decission of FoW make this simplified army list. MG34 and MG42 have the same efficciency 1000 rpm aprox MG34 , and 1200 rpm aprox MG42 , but MG42 have problems of heat of gun and sypply of ammo, the automatic fire is more short in MG42 for this reason. One friend "para" say me over MG42 spanish (equivalent to the model of WW2) gun heating too quickly , orders of short bursts are mandatory in action.

@@randallcase1009 I no negate the real existence of grenadiers, but FoW use Panzergrnadiers not armoured, and is true , panzergrenadiers with trucks ? Yes! German armee never have full number of Hanomags in whole war.

is wrong , not 2 76mm sherman. Are 3 76mm, USA army list is: HQ tank company 2 SH. 75mm, platoon 3 75 mm SH and platoon 3 Sh. 76mm, supported for platoon parachute rifle.

@@SunDancerGE Per their upcoming items: Release for: September 2019, D-Day Landing Terrain Set: To help take the guesswork out of playing beach landings, we will be releasing a themed cardboard terrain pack. This gives players what they need to transform a normal grass battle mat into a well-fortified beach with cardboard fortifications and landing craft. The pack will also include a paper battle map segment to create the beach portion of the battlefield on your own battle mat at home. These cardboard terrain sets make it quick to set up games and are easy to store when the games are finished. We will also be releasing a durable 4’x2’ vinyl mat, similar to our other printed mats. Everything released in cardboard will also be available in either our Battlefield in a Box range, or as Flames Of War products on the website.

If your using the m4 with the 75 than yes you could but the 76 you probably can’t Same with the infantry. But it’s yours so if you want to and are not big on historically accurate games the. Go ahead

It basically is, but with different tanks and no card terrain. You do get US 76mm M4A1s (3 vs just two Fireflies) and later Model MK IV German tanks. That, along with getting the new rules, made it worthwhile to me.
