That parking building is notorious for flooding that way, and invariably is shown whenever there's heavy rain in Las Vegas. I was grateful to see a few other scenes of the rain instead of just that same locations again.

That’s The Link parking lot. It’s always the worst flooding there.
@berkshire88
@berkshire88 Год назад
@@charlesgallagher1376 True!! The reason is that the lower level of the Linq parking Lot is the Flamingo Wash. Caesars Palace built a tunnel underneath their property to follow the Flamingo Wash. This empties into the Linq Parking Lot.

There was one bad storm in 2015 as I remembered driving on spring mountain (I think) and I could literally touch the water outside of the car. Granted my friend had a scion. But the aftermath was worst when gravel/debris was on the road and huge chunks of rocks. You couldn’t even drive on the road. Vegas does not have a good drainage support system. It’s a fishbowl.

Aww memories. I worked at the Imperial Palace which is now The Linq 25 yrs ago. The story from the old school staff was that the owner of the Imperial Palace, Ralph Englested was an engineer, among other things😒. Anyway the IP is very close to a flood wash (whatever it's called), so naturally you have to be crazy to build literally on top of an area where collected flood water will tear through your property. The Harrah's and Flamingo are close, but the IP (Now Linq) is in the middle. I guess he did engineering calculation and figured it out. Worked at IP for about 7rs. The amt of flood water was different sometimes hmm not bad, but sometimes Neptune was f'king pissed. The employee parking was at the lot across from the garage parking. When it flooded we couldn't just walk to our cars. We had to go through Harrah's, upstairs, across a pathway (some how Harrah's and Linq was connected via their parking.), back down again, and finally to our cars. We didn't get write ups for being late😅. Yes a few people have died when I worked there. Likely a tourist who didn't want to do an Amazing Race to get to the other side. That was long. I ♥️ telling stories.

I'm from MN and moved to Vegas for a couple years. Worked in a restaurant in Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Being from MN I'm used to all kinds of crazy weather. Bit when it rains in Vegas, it POURS. It would look like a tornado came through anf roads would get so slick and crap would wash down from the mountains into the streets. I never experienced this level of rain while I lived there. But so crazy to see. Still think of Vegas as my second home and have many friends that still there.

Most of the video of the parking garage is of the Limq (formerly the Quad, formerly the I P, originally the Imperial Palace). It is built over the Flamingo Wash, and whenever Las Vegas gets heavy rains and the wash gets blocked with debris, the water will rush through like that. Underground parking is inherently prone to flooding. Given this knowledge, it is foreseeable that such an event would and could happen. What did the architect and contractors (and City that approved and issued 'permits') do about it? How was 'drainage' addressed? Point is: Somebody was negligent. How did the Casino deal with the 'parked cars' down there? Everybody ordered to higher ground? Hope every vehicle owner has 'Comprehensive Coverage' on their auto insurance policy. That's the applicable coverage for 'flood damage'. Without it, you're on your own.
