Archie sonic was popular enough to run 290 main comic issues and run for 24 years straight. it sold thousands of copies. So don't just assume that your experience of media is the same as everyone else's. Also what exactly makes a version of a character the "regular version"? is it the length of time they existed? like the longest running version is the "regular" version? Is the first version of the character the regular version? is it based on the current time period? is the regular version of the character the current version of the character? That such a vague and subjective term. Someone could literally consider any version the "regular version"
