This was the most thorough review of this vehicle that I’ve yet seen. There were features on there like the elevator that goes to the top and bottom of the ship that I was completely unaware of. Thank you for pointing them out. 😊

One of the BEST SW ships Kenner did for sure, they really got creative with this one...

What a great Set this is. Why they don't make these anymore.

Sadly these days the only way to get something on this sort of scale is via Haslab and it'll set you back about £500

This ship is very cool looking. It would be cool if they ever make this again, hopefully in vac metal chrome!

Just bought one mint in box, today I opened/build it up. Everything works but was puzzled by the astromech feature, all the panels blast off but didn't know there was a button for the droid ! ( japanese instructions), your video helped a lot.

This came out a couple years after GI JOE ‘s Sky Patrol a set of vehicles that got the Shiny metal coating, I was disappointed that this ship didn’t get it as well. Instead of the full silver we got.

I remember when the toys were going to be for sale at at the Toys R Us in Kelowna British Columbia Canada, I was at a workers compensation Board thing where they were putting me through some different things try to strengthen me and make me able to go back to work although that's not the reason they had that but over that time I'd gotten the information that there was going to be a midnight thing going on where they're going to start selling the Star Wars toys at midnight and I found out that the Toys R Us in that City I called them to find out they were going to be open at at midnight and they said no it's if we're not opening at midnight we're going to open at 7:00 in the morning then you can come and buy whatever it is you need. Now when I got there at 7:00 there was only one other guy there at the time and we went through and made sure to get one of everything and but in the case of the things like the battle droids for example you had to buy more than one. Same thing with the vehicles same thing with the Limited playsets I wish they would have had something a little better than what was originally given I wish they would have had more especially of a Playset for Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan going after Maul I mean it was good for what it was. But the problem was they didn't have shopping carts in there so we had to hold as much as we could hold to get them over to the counter to pay for them and then to leave with our our booty. I knew better than to think that the figures that we were buying was the kind of thing that would be worth a million dollars in 10 years time although the Figures were very very amazing compared to the ones that first came out for the first Star Wars movie back in '78 they were they were good for what they were but they weren't the absolute greatest. Especially when you compare the characters like Hammerhead walrus man and Greedo compared to what they were dressed in in the movies and the figure wasn't nothing like the movies. George Lucas had the ability to to next a figure if it looked too like one of the one of the ideas that they were putting out there was saying why don't we make a C3PO that's different colors not different colors in the sense of it being that there's a different po kind of new Droid it was that C3 pill would turn different colors depending if he was happy or if he was embarrassed and you know like other things like that and George Lucas was like no that's not the way see through PO is okay and for people who don't get that kind of stuff it means that it's not a good thing if that figure is doing something that is like not at all even close to something that would actually happen in those movies which obviously it didn't happen in those movies that way. But it was just it was funny how because of all the figures on the hooks the guy would yell out I'm looking for XYZ. Or he'd say are you looking for this this figure that figure and we just helped each other out and then now when I got all that stuff back to my hotel room then I was able to really enjoy them looking at the packaging the figures accessories all that kind of stuff I didn't at all felt like I overpaid for anything I felt like as if the cost of those action figures they're playability I know when I had a a stepson he absolutely loved those love them with a passion and played with him for hours with his friends it was the only thing that him and his friends could do that was better than playing video games because they had to interact with each other and they were doing the exact same things that I did when I was his age playing with the original Star Wars for use there's something about the great like you take the original 12-in GI Joes for example when kids are playing with that the way that we played with them when we were that age it's it's as much a part of the toy itself that brings kids into that thing of them doing something where they're actually getting up and doing something rather than just sitting with their head and inch away from the TV screen playing a video game I mean I play video games now he would have wished I'd played video games back then but I didn't find anything that could have interested me the way that I found them now but it's not every single video game but just a certain ones. But there's a lot of people out there who I remember I want to say it was Korea where a woman who become a mother had played video games for so long that her newborn baby died because she didn't breastfeed them or give them anything to eat cuz they couldn't she couldn't stop the game she was doing I know there's probably a lot of guys saying well I'd love to meet her, if she's that kind of a gamer then yeah I got to meet somebody like that. It's funny though because when The Phantom Menace came out that was really interesting because both Phantom Menace attack the clones and Revenge of the Sith we're all movies that I saw more than five times the theater before it came out on DVD and then on DVD I watched it more than 5 to 10 20 times I've lost count how many times but the reasons I went back to the phantom menace was because of certain scenes that I couldn't get enough of Roger Ebert even talked about how he had to go back more than once to go see The Phantom Menace cuz there was so much going on in it just like with the original Star Wars especially the the race in that is going on in Tatooine and the the thing of Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon and jar jar getting to gungan city and that first reveal of that city under the sea is the kind of thing that you have to see more than once because it's just so breathtaking. Steven Spielberg even said that he that there were times when he was watching the movie and he was trying to think there's no way I could top this that it was just like Immaculate and perfect. And you know what I don't care if people say well I hate Jar Jar Binks, really? I loved how my ex-wife and her son absolutely loved Jar Jar Binks loved his in fact my ex-wife she absolutely hated any other Star Wars movies but judge our banks she absolutely loved she loved watching The Race part as her daughter did as well who was a Nascar fan and it was interesting for example my step daughter saying to somebody on the phone when they called while she was watching The Phantom Menace for the fourth time and it had gotten paused while she was on the phone and she told them on the phone I can't talk right now I'm in the middle of watching my favorite movie The Phantom Menace so she said you know call me later in about 2 hours cuz it was right in the middle of the Race part if she wasn't sure how much longer it would be but by the end of it she was like oh my God then when she saw attack of the Clones there was a part in there where Pat and me says to Anakin you'll always be that little boy from tattooing and when she heard that she she reacted to it like it was a soap opera which is great because and that's the same thing that my wife laughed about too was that she saw the that aspect of the World building was that issue of her looking at Anakin is being younger and therefore more impulsive more not like her she's way more sophisticated than he is but that's an in a lot of marriages that's very true or you'll have a younger man with an older woman and the woman many times is a little more sophisticated than her husband is Family Guy Simpsons King of the Hill

Thanks for sharing - it's really interesting to hear about your experiences with the Phantom Menace. I remember the time very clearly too, but in a very different context as I was a child. I remember the build up and hype - the marketing machine being in full swing - and then the sudden sharp change in public reception to the film and rapid decline in goodwill towards it. An interesting time to be a Star Wars fab for sure.

Hard to say, it's a big piece and hard to find these days so I imagine eBay will be your best bet unless you're lucky enough to have a collector's toy store near where you live?
