I've had this printer for about a month and had only one fail and that was my fault. Hairspray has been the secret to a sticky build surface and super easy to keep clean. This is definitely an underrated 3d printer. Great video.

+jonathan norman Thats awesome! Nice job! Yeah hairspray is really good way of sticking it well. Are you using only the glass plate or the Flashorge buildtak surface on it?

The price and ease of use seems like a big plus to me. Always wanted to get a 3D printer but couldn't justify spending so much on it.

Flashforge looks very well built and big for the price. Seems like a good clone of MakerBot maybe. Could you print a life-sized helmet in this or the creator pro?
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 8 лет назад
I enjoy it a lot! You would have to split up the model in pieces and print them in either this one or Creator Pro. I'd go for the dreamer over a Creator Pro and for larger models, go to the flashforge guider(PLA only).

Hi, I know that I am "late to the party", but are you able to use carbon fibre and wood filament with this printer? It will be the 1st 3D printer, and I will use mostly PLA, especially during the first few runs. Also, does it accept normal spools?
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 6 лет назад
Well, you could use CF-infused PLA for example (and wood), but it will be a little more tricky and will wear down your nozzle pretty fast. Stock up on nozzles if you're going to do that (and become confident changing them often). Wood is less abresive than the CF though. It will need an adjustment to take "normal" spools. See the pinned comment =) If you wanna get a Finder, please use one of the affiliate links to keep a youtuber afloat =)

Honestly the flashforger looks amazing but way too small for me since I want to print bigger stuff but don't want to pay 800$ for the bigger flashforger ones so do you think the CR-10 3D Desktop DIY Pinter would be good? Would I would have it in my basement since it would be too large to keep on my desk. I watched a lot of reviews but not sure if they are false so just want a unbias opinion.. (Please Reply)

how is it for making 1/6 scale action figure head sculpt for example hot toys?
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 6 лет назад
It does perform very well for small features. But it's still a 0.4mm nozzle which means it's really hard to do things smaller than that in X/Y. To be honest, smaller than around 0.6mm in X/Y is hard to do. Also the nozzle is round which means you're getting "rounded" details at small scale too. I'm not entirely sure how 1/6 compares to for example Warhammer models etc, but those are way to small to create good models for painting etc. Scenery and some larger models could be made quite well though!

@3DPrintTechDesign

I tried the Micromake L2(see here; amzn.to/2yGjliM ) , but I'm not sure it's the best printer yet. I'm still in review phase, but it's cheap resin printer. Not the easiest though. I wouldn't trust anyone marketing as "easy cheap DLP/SLA" just yet.. Maybe during 2018 there will be some new releases

full color is expensive. Yo should probably order prints from someone if you need that. For example Projet CJP 3D Printers or . for 3-4 colors (not gradients/mix) you can read up on Mosaic Palette 2 or look at P Original Prusa i3 with MMU.

Do you have any issues with bed levelling? I use the level system that comes with the printer, but i get issues with elephant foot when printing without a raft. I also see faint marks on the build plate from where the extruder has scraped over it.
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 8 лет назад
Well, the leveling i think is optimized for a first layer of around 0.23mm (standard settings in Flashprint i believe). It could be that you need to adjust the first layer height instead of the actual leveling. Did you change first layer height? Could be something with that :)

Hello, can Flashforge Finder use bronze filament?
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 8 лет назад
Hi, haven't tried it. I suppose it would work, but voiding warranty. The cooler is a bit tricky to adjust (at current firmware/software) So i'd say it's a "its possible, but not sure you should"-scenario. I have two copper filaments here that I could try out.
@juhopete7322
@juhopete7322 8 лет назад
So because of the cooler it is not recommended to do? Sorry I'm new to 3D printing and I just bought one of these :) If you are going to try it please let me know the results!
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 8 лет назад
It's more due to the fact that you can't control the cooling of the filament, and therefor not optimize for bronzefill or similar filaments within Flashprint (included software). With that said, It should extrude quite well. Running simplify3D, you can now control your Finder and therefor it should be very possible :). Remember that Bronzefill has a potential to wear/clog your nozzle more often. Maybe get a backup nozzle while you're at it.

Thank you for making this video! Fantastic review to watch, as they all are from you. :) I'm trying to decide between the finder and dreamer and was hoping you might be able to help me decide please. I'm after print quality above all else (i.e. most clean print surface with least visibility of layer liners). I don't mind the smaller build volume of the finder and i also don't mind that the dreamer would cost me twice as much as the finder (in the uk). Oh yes and i will only require print jobs in PLA. I understand that you reviewed these printers a while ago now so I'd understand if memory does not serve so well in recalling how they print comparatively to one another. Lastly, again if memory serves well enough, how would you rate the print quality of these Flashforge printers to the ultimaker 2 in your experience? Regardless of whether you can shed any light on my questions, i thank you for your enjoyable to watch and helpful reviews! :D

Haha, it's a model we developed at Creative Tools 5 years ago to get users feedback, understanding how their printers were set up and what their issues might have been. It was a really nice way to give support to customers, and the goal was to have a benchmarking model that you would still want to keep when done with it. It's become lika a standard benchmark of printing quality with the preset settings for example =)

Hi Ginger, You can create anything you want (in plastic) with this machine. It's up to your imagination, the build-volume and your skills in a 3D-softare. I recommend you try out Fusion 360 from Autodesk, it's free for students and hobbyists. There's alot of good videos on youtube about it :)

@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 5 лет назад
No sorry =) Depending on what you want to scan (and details) the cheapest "easy" thing is the Sense 2 here; geni.us/3DpTDSense or by using photogrammetry, but that takes more effort. Next up for scanning parts, in good detail is the EinScan-SE ( geni.us/3DpTD-einSE ) or the Thunk3D Cooper M20 (geni.us/3DpTDcooperM20)

guys how noisy is this printer? I had the da vinci jnr and the fans were louder than a jet plane.
@3DPrintTechDesign
@3DPrintTechDesign 8 лет назад
+Bruce Suttie This is seriously the most quiet printer i've ever heard. It's just a bit louder than a desktop computer. Approximately the same as a desktop computer when its running a game. If you run faster print speeds, it gts more noisy, but that is not fan-noise, mostly just "shaking" sounds of the accelerations and so on.
