Hi everyone! CALLING ALL FLAT HEADS! LOL
Sharing my best wig tips with you Guys!
This is my favourite way of securing my wigs I wear the most of!
My occipital bone / nape is very flat, so standard wig grips tend to rise up at the back.
If this sounds like you, I'll going to love this!
Using velvet wig grip strip and wig toupee clip
Using hair Velcro strip :

Great tutorial. You are the first to address a "flat" head. I too have this problem and will most certainly try your suggestions. God Bless.

@@Teds_Wig_Emporium this wouldn’t work for me because I hate using any kind of clip, it just pulls too much. Because I have a large head, and I’m very sensitive to pressure, even large wigs press too much at the nape and give me a headache. I wish someone would design a wig cap that relieves the pressure from the soft tissue at the back of the head and transfers it to the bone up higher. I have some ideas, but I’m not quite sure how it could be executed or how well it would work.

@@paulacoyle5685 oh I see! How about using more Velcro at the nape? It could still work I guess? You can also saw in a small comb instead of a clip perhaps. 🤔

Wonderful tutorial Teresa! Thank you so much! If I might add an idea, if you placed scar silicone tape inside the cap where the part is first, you would have a complete part without any of the velvet showing through on top. I use this on all of my wigs with parts and it makes them look very realistic.

Thank you very much for the fantastic tip. I'll try it out straight away. I find the wig holders under the wigs very annoying because they are very thick on the ears and you can't push the hair behind the ear properly. One problem for me is determining which side of the band is the right one so that the wig doesn't slip. It all feels the same to me.
@Teds_Wig_Emporium
@Teds_Wig_Emporium 19 дней назад
You’re very welcome! This makes a big difference indeed 😬👍🏻 You have to gently stretch the velvet before sliding it on your hair to feel small level of resistance. It’s quite subtle, so go slow to test it. If in doubt ask a family member for help 😂 😬 Hope this helps! Thank you for the lovely comment and for watching ❤️❤️❤️ if you ever need any advice or suggestions please feel free to message me 🥰

Good tips!! For my flat back of head, I put my shoulder length hair in a pony tail. I put on my wig grip securing it below/underneath the pony tail. I am sure to place the nape of the wig below/underneath the pony tail and then make the side then front of the wig last to my hairline. I have fine hair, so the pony tail is short (about 1-2 inches long and is not bulky (my hair is layered with just enough length for a pony tail. I feel secure with this method for me because the wig never slides above my little pony tail.

Thank you for sharing hun! Low pony is great for that, isn’t it? ❤️ Sounds like we have similar fine hair - mine is frizzy and used to drive me mad, so I cut it all off 🙈 xx

I bought wig clips with safety pins. I wasn't sure how it would work for me. I didn't want to sew them in, yet. I did buy the ones you suggested .I ended up using 4 clips front, back and sides. Works well. I bought a wig at a discount because I wasn't sure about it, I love it. This is the wig I try different things on first before I use a higher price wig. Thanks again for your suggestion .

@@Teds_Wig_Emporium well I tested it with my ‘sports wig’ and a useless JR wiggrip. The process is pretty simple, the wig seems secure enough to stay in place but will test more tomorrow at the gym. I get the impression that I’m less hot than before so that is another plus. Only downside is that the demarcation is very visible where the wiggrip starts. I need to place it further back I think.

@@wendyamsterdam8482 thank you for being my official human testing subject, Wendy! 🤓 yes, I normally try to place the grip behind where you would see the seam between the lace front and the mono top (which not all wigs come with, but you get the idea ). It’s super easy to add and remove if you need to re-do 👍🏻❤️

That’s amazing! I noticed that piece sewed in during another of your videos, and planned to ask about it. I’m having a lot of trouble lately- I usually end up sewing 5-6 clips and often just wear the full wig like a topper, if it’s the right color. Clips are not comfortable after 4-5 hours. But my head is not flat. I do have a grip now and I think I’ve figured it out. Took many tries, and I don’t like the bulk. What’s that material called, the gray, very rough oval pads? That would work well with basic caps, I think.

@Teds_Wig_Emporium 2 года назад
Hi Cheryl! Yes, I’ve tried sewing clips in like that ad well, but as you say, they get uncomfortable after a while. I highly recommend trying this method! It’s been a life changer for me. The pads are Velcro hair grips, I left a link in the notes of the video to Amazon side. There’s quite a lot of different brands you can get, it works best with basic cap as well 👍🏻❤️☺️

I just found out I have a flat occipital bone on back of my head. I have mild alopecia from psoriasis and menopause so my natural hair is buzzed short. The wig I have rides up on the back of my head. I use a headband but sometimes the wig will push it out of the way and still rise up. Not sure what i'm doing wrong.
@Teds_Wig_Emporium
@Teds_Wig_Emporium Год назад
Sometimes there’s more than one reason why that can happen hun xx The shape of the head is a big part! I can’t wear a standard wig grip at all, because it is way too wide for me and just as you said, it always comes off my head inside the wig, which is soooo irritating! Lol 😂 If you do use a wig grip, preferably the slimmer version, don’t pull the circumference adjustment too tight, as that encourages it to rise up at the back. I also find the right length of my bio hair is important - too long at the back can make it more slippery and too short doesn’t provide enough grip. I use those little wig clips at the nape as well, which I swear by! Also the right cap size makes a huge difference! Check that you pick the correct cap size - if it’s too big it will move around too much and may need sizing down. If it’s too small in circumstances, the wig will rise up at the nape. Hope that helps xx Let me know if you have any other questions xx 💋

Do you have any tips on caps that expose the wig cap on the side to the ear tabs.
@Teds_Wig_Emporium
@Teds_Wig_Emporium Год назад
Hi hun, do you mean when you can see the hair is too sparse on the ear tabs or if the cap gathers and folds to stick out on the sides? Xx Personally I would trim ear tabs if they are too obvious, especially if the cap is too big. If the cap gathers in any area I would use a stretchy thread to size the cap down a little.

Hi new to the wig world, does that little in the back attach to your hair? I don’t really have a lot of hair at the moment, so this might not be necessary for me. 😌
@Teds_Wig_Emporium
@Teds_Wig_Emporium 2 года назад
Hi my lovely! Yes, the clip clips into your hair at the back, preventing the wig cap from sliding up at the nape. If you don’t feel that it’s a problem for you, you can certainly leave it out or attach a strip of silicon, which provides a similar result. If you have any questions feel free to ask me! Xx
