I was given this wig grip for a review, but I really try to be as unbiased as possible even when I was provided an item.
UPDATE: It has been 9 months since I posted this review. I still like to wear this grip to the gym with my headband wigs so I would say it is going strong.
PROS:
- Super secure, my wigs did not move an inch
- Prevents the dreaded ride up the back of the head problem that many of us have
- Isn't as bulky as a velvet wig grip
- Is a very quick way to secure your wig without adhesives (like for a quick errand)
CONS:
- For a non-wig grip wearer, it made my wigs feel tighter than usual (I only use It Stays and nothing else under my wigs)
- It really doesn't breathe and so does hold in the heat a little bit, nothing drastic as it doesn't cover your whole head but something to be aware of.
- It can pull your hair a little bit when putting it on if you are not careful (I demonstrate how I do it to avoid that)
OVERALL: I recommend and will definitely use if for certain occasions. It has not converted me to a wig grip wearer instead of It Stays, but I can FOR SURE see some really good uses for it and am glad I have it.

This wig grip is my absolute favorite!! I purchased min from Beauty Nook as well. I have been using it almost daily since September 2019 and it’s still perfect. I washed it few times because my makeup got on it. I just love mine and I think I need one extra “just in case”. I highly recommend it too. Love your review❣️

There are quite a lot of similar silicone wig grips available on Amazon now (Aug 2020) that are just as good and cost less. The original will prob go down in price to be competitive

Thank you for your review Denise :) The Wig Fix is made out of skin soft silicone that actually protects and induces natural hair growth by the gentle + effortless stimulation it provides. The silicone nodes should gently comb through hair and not pull any out, we reccomened being gentle with any removal. For any tightness, you can gently stretch out the band before wearing and wear it further back on the hairline. We're so glad you enjoy the product!

I wore mine all day long today and have to say I love it!! I am used to wearing a wig grip and have to pull down my wig in the back all day. I haven't had to do this once with the Wig Fix, which I really like. It feels very comfortable on my head. It's very hot today and I wasn't bothered at all.

I got this on Amazon and its very tight and it does leave holes in my skin and also gives me a headache after about an hour and can only wear it 1 1/2 hr. at the most. Also on hot days leaves my skin very wet under it. I do use when I need to if its really windy but only for a short time. I am new to wigs and this is the only grip I have right now.

Awesome review as usual. I love the way you tackle issues. That being said, I wouldn’t like the feeling of this-no matter how well it holds, especially with the marks left on an already sensitive area. Thank you for bringing new items for review...I watch every week.

I have a very sensitive scalp, due to fibromyalgia, migraine, and allodynia from the alopecia areata, and i can't imagine wearing that grip. Thank you for the review! In terms of the staying power, it sounds great. However, I couldn't tolerate the added discomfort.

Thanks for this review. I have wanted to try this and I think I will order one now. I have a huge problem with ride-up in the back, so... I've been practicing with the It Stays for a little while now. I wanted to get it down before really hot weather. Oh, and yes;;; this wig style looks great on you. I saw this today on The Beauty Nook and was very intrigued. Thanks girls! I’m glad to hear you say that it’s thinner than a wig grip. I like Ellen Wille wigs and don’t want to add ANY increase in my circumference. Most of them give me some wiggle room but I have a Hair Society that wouldn’t work with a normal wig grip. I’m also happy to hear that you can’t see the grip in the monofilament part.

Wonderful review Denise! It sounds like this is another great option that’s become available for us wig wearers. Alas the heat and nubs pushing into my scalp are enough for me to pass on this because like you I have super sensitive scalp and I run hot 🥵 Btw love love the hair you are wearing and that is definitely one of my favourite shades on you 💛

I’ve just subscribed to your channel. I have to go back and watch a lot of your tips on how to properly wear wigs as I feel I know very little, was never taught how, just sold a wig and out of the store with no instructions at all, and I started in 2015! I hate wig caps, too hot and tight causing headache. Would like to try It Stays, but I live in the Nevada desert. So I might use glue in the winter and grips in the summer. Anyway, I’ll be binging on your instructional videos. Thanks so much.

Denise, I usually just wear a stocking cap (mostly to keep natural hair oils from getting on the cap). I have a new-to-me hard front that I haven't yet added bangs to that I wore to a restaurant the other day. After our waiter took our oder, my husband looked and said that the wig had slid back. I was horrified since, of course, the waiter was standing over me. Lace and bangs hide a multitude of faux pas, and now I'm reluctant to wear this one until either I soften the front with bangs or try one of these silicone grips! :::just another wig tale:::

Thank you for this honest review. I too, experience, the red dots. Mine were almost black and blue looking, but went away quickly. Also, I couldn’t wait to get it off of my head. It felt like I had a headache. I had it on six hours. I was about to remove my wig in the car, but I didn’t want to ruin it by putting it on the back seat. It’s a Follea and it was only the third time wearing it. I tried a velvet band my first time, and it kept sliding back. My bio hair is too fragile to wear the front comb and side clips. I’m allergic to so many thing and my skin is sensitive that I wonder if the glue or tape would rip my skin off. I powered through the wig fix. I hope that I never again have to wear it for six hours. It started bothering me at the two or three hour mark. It was just too tight. But….. it didn’t budge. It stayed out and I felt confident; except for the headache. I will be using this product again because it made the wig stay.

Am i a wig sister? I have worn a wig every day for nearly three years. I think i need to be one. Caramel kiss is my favorite color of all i have bought.

I’m stretching mine on my 23 inch canvas head. It’s so tight it’s impossible to wear. They could start making sizes S, M & L. If it fit, the effect is perfect under unrooted wigs on a hairless head or soft beige bamboo wig cap.

I purchased a 4 pack of silicone wig grips from Amazon for about $10. I cut the darker one into two bands which were half the width. My wig is very secure, not moving at all! And the band is much more comfortable and not at all bulky. I am considering sewing small segments into the nape and ear areas where you often see clips sewn.

@@heywigsister The half wig grip works for low density lighter wigs but not so well for my Raquel Welch Upstage medium density wig. I use the full band for that. Haven’t yet tried sewing silicone on the back. I’ll post results here when I do.

Your comments about the social media is exactly how I feel right this minute. I’m in my last chapter in life’s challenges. I start chemo/radiation this week. I’ve had enough with my friends and I use that word loosely knowing my political views to continue to stab me and very argumentative. Like a wrestling match and absolutely no respect. Today I want to let let them know my feelings, however I hate confrontation and I’ve been so angry at them knowing my health issues (without transportation). Interesting that today I was trying to decide the best solution. I love your videos. My hair started getting very thin when I was 30 and been wearing wigs from that age and I’m now 75.

Just called Beauty Nook and they don't carry this silicone wig grip any longer. Too many people were complaining that it "snapped" and broke, probably when it got older and lost the stretchy-ness. They do carry the velvet kind though. :-(

You know, I think I had heard that a while back (long after I did this video) and then someone told me that there had been a bad batch and that the company had pulled that one off the market.... mine is still going strong and I've heard from many people that they haven't had problems. Sure hope it truly was fixed.

FYI- I always cut the extra lace off and you just have to keep the wig where it is supposed to be by tightening the nape adjusters. Just cutting the front lace alone should not stretch it out!! I have been doing this for literally years. If you have your wig grip too close to the front, it can be too much bulk. Great review tho . Makes me want to order one.

I was do hoping this would be a replacement for it stays, but I hate the feeling of constriction on my head so I don't think this will be a big enough improvement over regular grips for me... Also, Alden looks fantastic on you -- watching you it was hard to believe it's a wig rather than your bio hair!

The WIg Fix was designed for the wearer to actually forget its on their head! Us wig wearers deserve the utmost comfort! The skin soft silicone naturally adjusts to the head shape and should not be constricting in any way. For any tightness felt the wearer can simple wear the Wig Fix further back on the hairline and gently stretch out the Wig Fix before use :)

I own 11 wigs but hardly ever wear them. The reason is I don't feel secure when going out that the wig will stay on, despite using various wig grips. My bio hair is very fine and thin, and I guess slippery. Using glue does not appeal to me. Today I received my Wig Fix from Amazon and am trying it out on my favorite wig, Cold Brew Chic by Belle Tress, which has been notorious for slipping back on me. So far so good, not noticing any slippage. We'll see after a couple of hours.

I like the velvet wig grips. I agree about the wig caps. They don’t secure any wig for me. Even cut the top out and they still slide off my head.

Would love to know what you think. I know some people have cut some of the nubs off on one side to make it less bulky so that is always another option. I find it to be a little less bulky than my velvet wig grip.

I think there may have been a bad batch out there so I would ask about that before buying... many many women have told me they LOVE theirs and have had no issues. Mine is going strong still :)

I love how secure it makes my wig feel but the nubs on the band literally cut my skin and I had 100s of red bumps that were on the verge of bleeding. So I cannot wear this. I have a flat head in the back and I struggle with securing my wigs I have super thin fine hair like cotton candy so this sits right on my scalp for the most part.

Hi, Lori! I think my favorite thing about the grip is how well it holds the nape of the wig in place. As for my nail polish.... I have no idea! I get my nails done because they are so fragile and weak.... wish I could tell you!

I am new in my wig journey. I do own one of these. I used it with a wig on Sat and in an hour I had a terrible headache. After about 4 hrs I had to take it off 😩 My headache got better after that. I wish they made a medium size... it works so well but idk if I can push through if I'm getting such made headaches. Also! Do you recommend any sweatproof roll on glue? I appreciate your videos and you are amazing!

Whoever mentioned Beauty Nook must have better luck then me. I ordered some shampoo and conditioner almost a month ago after one of the product reviews on here and still have not received it, ( I know this is not the place to complain about a company but thought I would put it out there since I have seen Beauty Nook mentioned a few times). I have contacted them via email 3 times and a text and absolutely no one has gotten back with me. Terrible customer service. Just letting others know.

What I have found is that everyone has a different preference. Personally, for everyday wear I prefer It Stays adhesive and don't like wig grips. That said, I will wear a wig grip with my headband wig and it works fine. I will also use wig tape if I need SUPER hold and am going to be sweating a lot and in a place where I am worried about the wig coming off. Having lots of ways to adhere a wig is very good planning, lol. Good luck in finding your favorite!

@@heywigsister Tonight I have unboxed a wig that was super small and I really do wish that I had not ever unboxed it at all. It was NICE enough, as far as it;s overall design, BUT, it was so damn small, I am a white gal and NOT Used to wigs at all, I have saved THIS SAME wig as IF it has been some kind of a weird scientific experiment, BUT, I do know that this wig is NOT an actual example as a "wig grip example" and would be LOVED by every guy and gal now, and I say that because this wig is so damn small, I have looked up all of the so called "hacks " to stretch your wig" and TRUST me, THIS wig is for the "Petite" or SMALL headed of us exclusively.

So sorry if it's been asked & answered but do you think this wig fix can be cut, narrowing above ears? May not even be needed but that is where traditional wig grips add to much bulk & cause my wigs to feel bulky there. I'm less than 12" from ear to ear over top of head. That is a great question... It seems like it could be, but I'm not sure if that would compromise the strength of it at all since there is quite a bit of pressure on it every time you wear it. I seem to remember some people saying that they did that, but of course I have no way of knowing how it held up over time after that.

@@princesspai1975 It Stays- all the way. The only time I ever wear a wig grip is with a headband wig.... I feel much more comfortable in It Stays or Lace Front Tape for all day wear (Lace Front Tape ONLY if I am going to be getting mega sweaty for a long period of time which has only happened a few times).

Hi Denise! Thank you for a very informative review without a lot of “gab”, lol. I’ve been wearing the WiGrip, but the problem is, for one , I have a teeny tiny head....so the Velcro is at the farthest. It tends to be thick, and “ride up” like you were talking about. It also has a hard time sticking to my REAL HAIR! I have to hairspray the heck out of it for the WiGrip to hold onto my hair! Then it does stick to the wig, but.....Would you recommend this silicone for me, it looks great, but it looks like one size fits all? Please help. 😊

Hi, Elizabeth! It is so hard to say how this will work for you. Here are a few observations that will hopefully help. Keep in mind I do not wear wig grips with wigs because It Stays works great for me do that is what I prefer. Now when I got this I did wear it with a wig for a few days just to be able to evaluate and I found it worked really really well. It didn't seem to have the same bulk as a regular wig grip. I do wear it with my gym wig, though, and really really like it. Many many women have responded to my video here as well as my post and others posts in Facebook groups saying that they love this way more than the velvet wig grip, but then there are some that have posted that they don't like it as much. I have seen a few women post that their''s got small little tears in them and eventually ripped. I don't know if that is common or what the deal is but I thought I would share it just in case. Mine had been fine and I've worn it it about 12 times (we stopped going to the gym when school started but need to get back at it). It could be user error, never know. I know how hard it can be at the beginning of wearing wigs, there are so many things to learn and different options, it really is a learning journey. Some of this journey requires trial-and-error so if you can afford to purchase this wig grip it might be worth a try as you figure out what method of securing your wigs will work best for you. I found It Stays and wig tape (on hot days when I will be outside and sweating a lot) to work the best for me and so that is what I do. Good luck!!

Great review! I just received my wig grip, but haven’t tried it yet. Do you think it will stay on when I drive my convertible with the top down? Also, what about if it’s really windy outside when you’re running errands, etc.?This was my first time on your channel, but it won’t be my last.

The last wig cap I wore was a disaster! My bio hair had grown out some, but without me realizing it, the stretch cap was slipping back because there was nothing to hold it in place. So with the cap slipping back, the wig was also slipping back😳😳😬😬

I had the same trouble with wig caps early on.... and since I get so hot all the time I gave up on Wig Caps entirely. Now I try not to wear ANYTHING under my wig for coolness, and It Stays works great for me. This wig grip is a great option when I wear my headband or 3/4 wigs with a headband to the gym and that is the only time I wear it.

I love the silicone wig grip.... but i do have to say the dots hurt my head after a few days of wearing it. Its irritating, and actually kind of painful. Im gonna try a regular band grip under it. But i love the grip so much. But hatee the pain the dots all day hurt. Ill let ya know if it works. I love how secure it makes the wig feel

Good luck! Honestly, I can't wear a wig grip for longer than a few hours at a time.... so I really only wear one if I am going to the gym or to workout, or if I am going to wear a wig for a VERY short time..... they do serve a purpose and this one has some GREAT benefits, but my scalp is too sensitive for all day wear. I hear ya!

@DeniseSheets ~ I'm curious if you have tried The Wig Fix wig grip with the HAND TIED WIGS you've mentioned in the past that aren't a good fit for your head? I'm thinking about your review of Kimberly by Envy and mentions of JR Cameron. You and I have basically identical head size and shape so I'd love to know if the Wig Fix Grip helps with your hand tied caps. Thanks! XO ~Christy~

Great idea! I sold the Kimberly and Cameron is WAY too dark for this time of year while I experiment with blondes... but I do have JR Kristi so I will have to try it with her and see. I'll let you know what I find out.

I am going to use THIS video as a guide to just how a person can use the silicone "wig grip" or maybe NON silicone type of wig grip and still have it help, women keep their wigs to fit on their heads. I also have been so scared to mention how I have bought wigs that don';t fit me and it is because most wigs have ladies that are fine with high hairline wigs that fit "your average white lady in her 40's".

Denise, I heard you mention It Stays doesn't work so well in the summer months. Does the tape pull your bio hair? I've never used wig tape. This silicone grip sounds like a perfect solution for winter months! I have wigs ride up in the back, but so do my velvet wig grips! LoL

No- I have not had any issues with tape pulling my biohair as long as I am careful when I remove it. I really like the Lace Let Go by Jon Renau better than alcohol for removing the tape.... I actually like the tape very much, but find it isn't as quick to put on or remove which is why I prefer the It Stays overall. The Silicone grip does work great, but for me there are 2 cons. #1 it does add a little bulk, not as much as my velvet wig grip, but still, the fewer things on my head the better. #2 I do find I get sweaty underneath it... now of course I am always hot and sweat often anyway, but again I think it is just having that extra layer and the fact it isn't cotton and probably doesn't breathe is a factor. If I absolutely had to wear a wig grip, though, this one would be at the top of the list for security.

Hi! I really don't wear wig grips very often as I prefer less bulk under my wigs. I do occasionally wear it when I am working out, but since I made this video I discovered The Hair Grip and that is now my absolutely FAVORITE! I have very fragile and undernourished frizzy hair and they fall even with the slightest touch. Can you please update whether this wig fix pulls out hair while removing the wig fix or not .

I really do not experience any hair pulling out. I only wear it for a few hours at a time with my headband wigs to the gym. I will say that I get a lot of comments on this both here and on Facebook and have never had anyone say that has been a problem for them either.

Oh how frustrating that this didn't work for you. It is so interesting how we all have such different experiences with the same products. I have heard from so many that this was the solution to their problem with wig grips.... but of course no one product works for everyone. Ever notice that highly rated products on Amazon always have at least a few negative reviews? This is what makes being a consumer so tricky. I hope you find a great solution soon!

I have baby fine hair. Bought a different wig grip on Amazon. The back of the wig slides. But worst of all, my head is itchy all day, especially around the grip. And my head hurts around my hairline after wearing the wig for 8 hours. Would you say this one is better than your typical generic one? I paid $6 for the cheap one, which is right. Can’t even wear a wig net cause it really slides then. I paid $30 for this wig fix. Is it better? Can I expect pair especially around my hair line. I’m scared this generic one is gonna kill my baby fine hair.

Hi, Niki! I can hear the frustration in your words... some of this is SO HARD. It is also so hard for me to say which one would be best, especially since we all have different head shapes, different hair loss, different scalp sensitivity. Without knowing exactly which wig grip you have now it is also hard to say if this one will be better.... if your head is itchy all day and hurts around the hairline, I am afraid that this might do that as well. I have found that if I wear this one for long periods and get hot and sweaty, it does itch a little and get uncomfortable, but no more than any other wig grip on me. I have a sensitive scalp, and I am also sensitive to things being tight on my head. It is one of the reasons I really do not like to wear ANYTHING under my wigs for the most part. It is why It Stays is such a favorite...it secures my wig without any of that hassle (note, I do wear a wig grip under my headband wigs when I go to the gym or workout). That said, you also mentioned that wigs slide up on you in the back. I know some people have a lot of trouble with that because they have a pretty flat head in the back. I thought I was having trouble with that in the beginning, but now I know that I just needed to get used to the feeling of a wig on my head all day, and that in reality they were not really sliding up that much on me. Now it doesn't bother me at all. I wonder if that could be the case for you, or if you really do have a very flat head in the back? Have you tried to wear wigs with no wig grip for awhile to see if they are really sliding enough to be a problem? I'm sorry, I don't think I really answered your question. So much of this is trial and error and experience. I will say that $6 seems really cheap for a wig grip so maybe you just didn't get a very good one? Maybe you could try the Milano wig grip, which is SUPER popular and only about $15 on Amazon: amzn.to/2DOYTBo

Hi, Chrissy. It is all one piece and so no adjusting ability. I havent had it long enough to know if it will stretchnput over time. So far it hasn't and I've worn it about 6 times.

I didn't use to when I first started wearing wigs, and instead I used It Stays roll on adhesive and adhered the front part to my head. Now, though, I have found a few wig grips that I really like and now I usually just throw a wig grip on. If the wig fits me really well sometimes I won't wear anything with it.

I do when I go to the gym.... It is hard for me to say for sure how it will work if you don't have hair because obviously I do have some and so I can only guess. But I have heard from many women both with and without hair who have said it works great. I have also heard from women who don't like it for a variety of reasons, so honestly it is really personal preference. I'm sorry I wasn't more help.

I m here just looking to see just what "wig Fix" Silicone wig grip "device" is going to perhaps be "featured" here. I have some wigs and a good bit of them are NOT big enough for MY fat head. I have seen some wigs can be stretched by varioius methods BUT, I can mostly relax here because I am pretty damn sure that I am NOT being judged here right now. I am a WHITE Lady that loves wigs that can give me hair that I can' t REALLY have naturally, so, I kinda think that I meet the criteria that many black ladies may find themselves under. Again, I am saying this because I can't just say "Okay, I LOVE this wig, so, I i,ll buy it now" I say THIS because many wigs are not so cheap. I have bought some wigs in the past, BUT, they. aren't so cheap.

Hi, Julie.... it is really hard to deal with wigs that are too tight... depending on where it is too tight, there are some methods that could help. If it is just a little too tight around your circumference, you can cut off the adjusters and that may help. Even if the adjusters are all the way out, there is still a little tension there from them, and cutting them releases that tension. You are right, they aren't cheap, so finding something that can help make them work is so important.

I think this would work well for me personally, but the price is absolutely ridiculous!!! Something like 32.95 for one grip!. Then they charge shipping on top of that.... They need to lower the price!

Denise Sheets, that would be awesome! I went to order one after watching your video and it was 25. Pounds which is about 33. USD plus a sizable shipping fee. I said “nope!” I think this would work well for me. Dang. I appreciate your review though!
