This topic is one that I got a lot of questions about. The goal with this video was to keep it as simple as possible. In reality, that should be the goal whenever you are riding your bike. Tight, flat, switchbacks, or something that nearly every Rider has to deal with. They shouldn’t be something that causes fear and trepidation, you should be able to tackle them with the confidence and capability to get the job done.
Drop a comment below and let me know your thoughts on this one. Do you agree, disagree? Do you have a topic that you would like to see us create a GBI on?
Of course, be sure to like and subscribe!

Not sure about the body shape being coached. Ok for cornering at 5mph but not at race speed, drop ur outside foot entering corner and the bike wont lean. Also coach body position is very upright raising centre of mass making you less stable

I’m a bit confounded at your response quite honestly. Did you actually read the title of the video? This deals with tight switchbacks, which, by nature are slower speeds. Furthermore, the information given was under the context of the scenario in the video. Never once did I talk about racing. Also, for context, my body position is drastically better than the majority of the people that I am speaking to. if you notice, I navigated the turns incredibly well. That being the case, why should I waste effort getting my body lower when it’s not needed?

"Ok for cornering at 5mph..." Just like the title of the vid implies. So, yeah.

Actually easier to hop 180 or endo, and more fun to drift. But that is not what the video is about.

Trust the process because it works. The ride series clinic is hands down the best clinic available 🤙

Definitely. Anyone who has taken a clinic will confirm. Private coaching even better!

I try to think about staying wide and getting the front wheel around the turn w the inside bar and hip tilt, and then when the front wheel is lined up, point the inside knee at the trail and hammer that inside pedal to pull the rear wheel in-line. The key is to keep the weight neutral or even a little more so on the bars. Great breakdown as usual.

It’s the downhill tight switchbacks that kill me. They scare me because I have a hard time controlling my speed, and am afraid of going over a berm that has a big drop (cliff) on the other side. The Down Under trail in Bella Vista is a prime example of what I am talking about. I had a very hard time with these. The berm is high on the outside…. So dropping the outside foot doesn’t feel right… makes me feel out of control…. I think level pedals are probably better in that situation? Can you please do a video on this Rich Drew? Downhill tight switchbacks and berms like Down Under. Thanks! 🙏

Hey Jenn! This is a great example of certain scenarios where fear creeps in and that instinct takes over. I’d love to make a video on this and, furthermore, I’d love to coach you through it in the video if you’re up to it? If so, reach out to Sarah info@therideseriesmtb.com and we can schedule it 👊🏻

Hey Rich, yeah fear definitely took over and the results were awful! 😢 I’m currently out of state. Please please do a video anyway and at some point I’d love to do some coaching when my schedule calms down.
