i just want to share something from a comp game: i'm a decent mercy player and currently stuck in dia 3 and i had this df telling me "you cant diff anyone as mercy" after we won and it left me so confused ever since.

Flats, i love these. Not only are they very entertaining but i feel like im learning a lot from these. Mostly the not what to do and to be weary of overwatch tips videos. As a new player it's hard to tell what's good advice and what's going to make you suffer.

Lmao if you're a good mercy you'll carry a lot of fights by making everyone immortal and dealing high damage but you need for that spatial awareness and quick reaction time to respond to everything happening

It annoys me how the focus it seems, for these news players is counter picks, there is so many more important things to learn before counter picking. Positioning, mechanics, movement, ultimate usage, ultimate tracking, timing, objective contesting, team synergy, off angles, utility usage, stuff like that comes before counter picking in overwatch, and that’s because, I’d you learn those things counter swapping will not affect you as much. For example, if you’re new, you’re silver 2, but you spend a lot of time learning these concepts and know you’re about a plat level on pharah, it does not matter if the enemy silver DPS go hitscan, you’ll still simply be better. Sure the counter swap might make it slightly harder but you can still carry most of your games.

Technically, Reaper counters everyone if he can get close enough.

Honestly everyone should play mercy, I've tried her out and the challenge of balancing healing and boosting damage as well as deciding when and who to pocket is actually fun

Not only does Mercy have carry potential, she might have the strongest “dual” carry potential in the game. To be fair with the last guy, flats was looking at the ana sigma talk like the guy was saying ana is a definite counter, when I think he meant she’s a “simple” counter as in she has an ability with potential to stop sigma ult, although ana herself is not a character you decide to pick to counter him, just if you’re on her you have a useful tool. Also he was giving one example so he could say that sleep dart is a “simple” counter to everything which with how he’s talking about it, makes sense, but ana could also still be a neutral pick. Obv for flats a term like that is dumb as in high level that’s just CC, CC stop thing thats the point.

I will say, I do love playing against Reins since I usually get a counterpin on them while their behind enemy lines. If they're not dead by the time we get up, you whip them and you have enough space. Don't fight the Rein, just deny his pins

One thing Ive noticed about these tiktok comments, all the trash take videos have actual people with brains commenting and all the good take videos have the absolute braindead bronzes. It is because when a good player sees a video they agree with they go "ok" like but dont comment since they have nothing to say. But when a good player sees a video they do t agree with they go comment in anger. The algorythm detects that as engagement and keeps reccomending trash videos to the good players and good videos to the bad players

i just started playing more mercy recently and did not think she was weak at all. finally figuring out how to have good movement with her and be viable is a great feeling. i will no longer tolerate any of the mercy slander from lower elo players

Small interjection to add to the Rein vs Brig bit. My perception is obviously different from Flats since I play in Bronze. I deal with Memeharts on a regular basis which just charge in by themselves without their whole team. Brig can totally bash a Rein to allow her own team to nuke him down before he gets back up, you can also clutch save allies if you're positioned in time. Also even if it was 1v1 Brig could still easily outrun the Rein by Whipshoting and Shielddashing away. Brig is very mobile compared to Rein.

I have a friend that loves to play Brig, who used to counter Rein's charge like that. Thankfully, she stopped when I pointed out that she wasn't saving me at all and half the time I was still being killed by the pin, getting squished in the middle of the two shields.

as a player who just recently picked up brig and dumped 15 hours into her, I can definitely say that anyone who plays brig against a rein is an idiot. To the point where I almost insta swap off brig if the other team has one. Im still trying to get better at not playing her like a dive hero because its so easy to want to dive in. But playing her like a dive hero makes it so that her inspire is worse cause you get further and further from your team as you dive, you get converged on and your team loses a support, and she doesnt have enough utility solo to win dive fights against multiple people unless theyre ignoring her. Of course theres team play that can work where brig gets healed and distracts while her team can fight the people focusing on her, or the other way around where brig focuses people attacking her team, and having some movement to escape, but most of the time that just isnt realistic. She needs to stay in the middle of her team and deny dives and flankers like tracer and genji while protecting her other support and keeping up inspire with whipshot whenever she can. Also please take everything I say with a grain of salt, Im a gold player so my opinions might not truly reflect the positioning and playability of brig in higher rankings

Personally when I play Brig and there’s a rein I wait to use my shield bash till he starts charging at someone, will save them most of the time if they’re close enough and if I need him to back up then I just use the flail. Speaking as a new Gold player tho so not sure if that strat is valid later on. But it’s working out so far

Honestly I’ve had the most success as Brig with Dive comps. If I see a Winton and a Reaper on my team, I’m going in the back line to target the supports with them. If anything it forces their tank to focus Me and Winton/Reaper (if they react in a fraction of a second bc realistically the supports will die quickly) and that will allow our DPS free range on their Tank since their supports will be focusing on living (again, if they somehow live with how much dmg would be done in that short amount of time) I know thats “not GM level thinking” but that’s realistically if I’m playing Brig at all, which I almost never do since Boostio is just better in a lot of different ways

Movement player here. I play Overwatch for fun and I main Lucio, Doomfist and Mercy. From that, I can assure you that the hardest player to ever master is definitely going to Mercy. The game sense, quantity of variableness on her fly is simply pro player level. I still can't say I mastered it but that guy saying Mercy is easy to kill with hitscans is straight bullshit. Even though I'm not top tier on her movement, I always get 1-3 deaths in an entire ranked match because it's so hard to die because of the randomness she can have from the fly.

As a silver (who used to be plat mercy, but dropped to not playing for a while) i can say 100% that mercy is far more complex then anyone says, been playing her for 4-5 years and i hardly ever die. Mercy is also 100% fun and has so much potential for the carry.

I will counter bash a charging Rein if he's charging 'at' me, or a DPS, then typically whipshot for distance as soon as we're back up and run the fuck away usually with an "AAAAAAARGH I'M GONNA DIE..."

Gm's are extreme minority, for majority: mercy is truly trash, even when tank or dps are actively harassing me - I manage to live, but guess what? My team still lose every fight. I ALWAYS see significant change when I sit on Ana, Lucio, or even Bap and Moira. Not so much when I swap from those characters to Mercy. It's not healing that changes everything, but my ability to really turn around fights and control enemies. You need that for majority.

The last tiktokker was showing they'd have the brainpower to eventually climb from silver to get hardstuck in gold, he just needs to understand why his _partially_ right answers aren't _completely_ right and then he'll be more likely to climb. All the others were sub 1,000 SR, no question, nobody plays that way, even in Bronze that's insanely rare to see _THAT_ level of keyboard > brain disconnect.
